Looking for the mother of all dressing gowns

This Christmas the only thing I want is a huge, cosy dressing gown. I need it to be thick and super warm, knee-length or longer, snuggly and have two large pockets. I plan to live in it while I'm on maternity leave, as well as wear it with a massive bump, so the bigger the better. It also needs to be machine washable too, so I think wool is out. Has anyone seen this marvel and could tell me where to buy it from please?

Inspired by this and another thread on suggestions of gifts for a dying relative, I've gone for the velvet dusky pink one from Etsy. My rationale is I'm going to enjoy luxurious dressing gowns whilst i can. Life's for living & my living is mostly done at home nowadays :-). I'm 46 btw.

I'm a bit concerned that it will be impractical\cold, but at least it's cheaper than the Toast one ! I shall update.

What you’ve described sounds like the one I bought DH from John Lewis last year. He rarely gets to wear it because I’ve adopted it for myself instead. Super snuggly, long, has a hood, and I can fit my kindle in the pockets.

JMAngel1 · 17/11/2021 20:49

You cannot beat the Rosie M&S one - sooooo snuggly, warm and gorgeous. I have it in black from 3 years ago but I really want the dusky pink one this year too because I'm greedyGrin

PerkingFaintly · 17/11/2021 21:02

I own this exact dressing gown. Everything you ask for.

It's a men's sheared fleece robe from John Lewis. The cosiest, most enveloping piece of clothing ever. Two pockets. 100% polyester, comes out of the machine almost dry.

I got mine a few years ago, but I've just looked up my old order and this current JL one appears to be a dead-ringer:

Ah yes mine is the M&S Rosie.its fabulous

LemonDrizzles · 24/11/2021 07:03

Before I had DC1, so easily 6/7 years ago, my niece surprised me at Christmas with a large thick cosy one from M&S. I feel like I live in it now! Esp as DC2 still gets up in the night (teething). Highly recommend it.

[quote Gensola]I have the M&S Rosie fluffy one in grey and it’s super cosy and warm and has pockets. It’s two years old and looks brand new.

Yy I recommend this one too and you can throw it in the machine.

BringMeTea · 24/11/2021 08:19

Another one who has the JL men's one linked! It is super warm and yes, does come out almost dry from washing. One thing to note, sleeves are very long so much rolling needed.
I would really like one like Poirot's but anything even close is £000s. Grin

Twatforaneighbour · 24/11/2021 09:09

That Rosie M&S one looks amazing, definitely going on my christmas list!
I can only see it in grey or red, does it also come in pink but is just sold out at the mo?
Dusky pink and that length would be my perfect dressing gown!

SerendipitySunshine · 24/11/2021 10:37

The Rosie in Red is sold out in most sizes too. Do you think they'll get more in or when it's gone it's gone. I don't love the grey.

I've had a Ted Baker one for a few years now. Sounds like what you are describing. It's gorgeous and so soft. I got it for half price in the Xmas sales.

Just looked and they they have a few different ones in the Black Friday offers.

Ahah it’s this one! www.thewhitecompany.com/uk/Hooded-Velour-Robe-/p/HVCRO?swatch=Storm+Grey

And

Housewife2010

I definitely agree with The White Company velour robes. I'm on my second. My first lasted 5 years. They are so cosy and comfortable.

OP get this one.

I vote white company, I have the waffle robe (I just prefer waffle and hoodless, but more snuggly options are available!). Quality great, washes well, has lasted years n years.

If I was buying a new one today I'd go for one of the Biba ones on House of Fraser which are on sale at £35 and look gorgeous

@flapjackfairy

The M and S Rosie dressing gown is super soft and snuggly. I had it 2 yrs ago and still lovely . I noticed they are in again.
These look great but the red seems to have sold out in all but extra small. I'm looking for as big as possible for my massive bump! Thanks so much though.

We all have John Lewis ones - they're excellent.

I have this dressing down...

Have had it for around 5 years & I absolutely love it. It's quite heavy which makes it so so warm and cosy.
