Old grey dress from Baukjen today (from when she made great jersey dresses - her pieces are not generally for me these days). Excuse the socks, lol - still deciding on the boots!

Frosty start today. I'm WFH today so am also wearing my furry slipper boots - I hate cold feet!

Top - Oasis
Dress - Dorothy Perkins

Will wear DM Aimilitias (sp?) later when I go out for a walk.

Nothing worth photographing for me yesterday - DS was up all night the night before and I managed about 2 hrs sleep in total, so it was dungarees and comfy clothes as the order of the day.

I find I'm wearing my dungarees less these days. Not sure why, I still like them and do wear them, but think I do have a tendency to get really into a certain look before getting bored and changing again and I think I'm probably going through that process now.

I could do with some help from you lovely, stylish people, though, please. I'm off to London today, first time in 2 and a half years. It's for work for a late afternoon/evening networking event and I'm a bit stuck what to wear. Last job anything like that was quite formal business wear, but the sector I work in now isn't like that, it's more smart/work casual, and I'm a bit stuck! I don't want to look too "country bumpkin goes to the big smoke".

Options are:

Toast jumpsuit
Reiss shirt
Fairfax & Favor boots

Cos dress
Reiss shirt
Fairfax & Favor boots

ASOS jumper
Karen Millen skirt
Fairfax & Favor boots

I've got a camel wrap coat I'll wear over the top of all of them. Other shoes are available, but I'm keen to give my boots an outing as I've not had much opportunity to wear them since DH bought them for me.

The Cos dress I love from the front, but to the side if I slouch at all it catches on my Mum tum and I'm worried people will think I'm pregnant. I'm not, just like cake... 😂 I'm leaning towards the skirt and jumper as the safest option, plus I know it'll be warm enough when waiting for the train, but it is a bit boring.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Also, please excuse my wet hair!

Dress - Boden
Tights - Snag (my fur lined M&S ones are getting holes 😭)
Shirt - ancient Primark

This is what I mean with the side profile of the Cos dress.

I do have terrible posture...

I really like the mustard dress/jumpsuit (?) and the black cos dress. Don't wear the skirt and jumper you will melt!

Sooverthemill · 25/11/2021 13:26

@toastfiend I'm really late but I like outfit 3 best and then outfit 1.

EllaPaella · 25/11/2021 13:54

@toastfiend sorry for late response, I love outfit 3! But after that outfit 2

Just dashing, busy day. I would never have considered checked pants until I saw these styled with this jumper and really liked it. Note to self ‘try new things you think you won’t like, because they may just work’! Excuse the hanger loops. I tucked them in, but they escaped. They are now cut off!
Jumper and pants - M&S
Boots - Clarks
Blouse - Baukjen

I like all 3 outfits @toastfiend. (You really look like you have no legs in the side profile - I did a double-take to understand the camera angle). I think #2 is my favourite.

I’m back in my culottes again - they’ve definitely been a good buy! (And yes, I do need to clean my mirror).

Jacket: Next
Jumper: Warehouse
Culottes; M&S
Boots: Doc Martens

Hi, hope it’s ok to pop on here and post. I have been a long term lurker and love following this post and seeing everyone’s fab outfits.
I am 44 and recently lost a lot of weight so had to start my wardrobe from scratch as none of my old stuff fits! I am still trying to work out what styles suit me and what I like to wear as before I just wore whatever fitted and felt awful whatever I wore. Currently putting together a capsule wardrobe but have very few items so far, so I won’t post every day as it will get really boring as I have a lot of repeats. I also work from home so a lot of my clothes are baggy loungewear atm.
I am in the midst of perimenopause so cannot shift my tummy: looks of from front but large from sides.
Anyway, this is the outfit I wore to lunch today. Got some lovely compliments which felt nice for a change.
Top: Wallis
Trousers: Açai (they are burgundy although look more brown here)
Scarf: Fatface
Wore these with brown ankle boots from Wills Shoes (not pictured)

EssexLioness · 25/11/2021 17:13

Also, curious as to what you wear for lounging at home/ wfh? I would like to smarten up with this but find jeans in comfy for relaxing in, can’t wear black/ navy leggings etc as I have a dog that malts badly and they end up covered in dog hair. Tried maxi dresses/ skirts for a while but find them a bit chilly: prefer trousers.

EllaPaella · 25/11/2021 17:54

Welcome @EssexLioness - lovely outfit. I am very slovenly at home and not at all stylish Grin
I wear PJ bottoms or joggers/hush harems with a long sleeve M&S thermal top (in winter) with a chunky knit cardigan and thick woolly socks and slippers. Once I get home from work providing I'm not going back out or for a run/swim I like to get out of my 'day' clothes asap.
I wfh on a Monday and usually just wear whatever I put on to take kids to school, jeans and a jumper or whatever.

@CaterpillaNavilla I love those tights
@Chrispackhamspoodle glad you love the Sainsbury's skirt as much as I do. I'm gonna wear mine out on Saturday afternoon when I go out for some cocktails 🍹 the stars give it the Christmas touch.

EssexLioness · 25/11/2021 18:06

Thanks @EllaPaella, good to know I’m not the only one! As I work from home and am introvert I don’t go that many places to wear ‘proper’ clothes. So will only pop up on here from time to time with photos as there’s only so many baggy loungewear pics any one person wants to see 😆
You all seem to have lots of lovely varied outfits. Is there anyone else here that has a modest size capsule wardrobe or do you all have a much larger range? I like the idea of having a smaller amount of clothes that can be mixed and matched essily

EssexLioness · 25/11/2021 18:06

EllaPaella · 25/11/2021 18:15

Tried and failed the capsule wardrobe many times I'm afraid. Love the idea of it but clothes are my weakness and I just love the whole process of finding items I love, getting them and mixing them up with other items of clothing. I just couldn't be minimalist when it comes fo clothes. Once I have an itch for a certain item I just have to scratch it!
I am trying to be more thoughtful about what I need though and really want to shop more ethically.

OP posts:
EssexLioness · 25/11/2021 18:30

I can understand that @EllaPaella? I had a pared down wardrobe when I was larger as I felt awful in whatever I wore anyway so didn’t see much point in buying much. However, the last couple of weeks I have got a bit obsessed with planning my wardrobe, hunting for the pieces I want, trying things on etc. Hopefully I will calm down a bit but it’s just nice to be able to look in the mirror and mostly like what I see.

Greyhairwarmheart · 25/11/2021 18:47

Love the mustard outfit @toastfiend. Welcome @EssexLioness. I enjoy clothes and buy far too many (mainly from charity shops). Nature abhors a vacuum so if I throw any out I'll just buy more to replace them! Cardigan Gap, skirt boden.

EssexLioness · 25/11/2021 18:59

Thank you @Greyhairwarmheart. That skirt is lovely and really suits you

Sooverthemill · 25/11/2021 19:26

@EssexLioness welcome and lovely outfit! I don't go out ever pretty much and wear what I feel like ( which is almost always jeans) but if you want to have clothes to relax in why not try some Hush harems or joggers via eBay to see if you like them? Or buy from hush and return if you don't like. I've been getting into hush joggers from eBay most days about 5 the last couple of weeks and I have wondered about getting another pair! They size large imo. I am not minimalist although I used to be. Clothes are my therapy really, anyway we are a friendly nbunch so post away!

EssexLioness · 25/11/2021 19:45

@Sooverthemill thank you! I used to have some Hush harems years ago when I used to work nights and found them really comfy. I forgot all about them so will def have a look on EBay.

Sooverthemill · 25/11/2021 20:05

@EssexLioness I also have 2 dogs and 3 cats so hear you on the animal hair!

Sickoffamilydrama · 25/11/2021 20:13

Same dress different day!

Although my jumpsuit has come it's Mint Velvet and it's definitely a keeper, I'll be up to dress it up or down.
