Just asking has anyone tried stitch fix?

I've signed up for a first box . I've seen mixed reviews.

Thanks

AreYouRightThereSkippy · 12/11/2021 16:45

Yes, I've tried it. I found it absolutely crap. But some people love it.

stillvicarinatutu · 12/11/2021 18:38

Oh that's disappointing! What was crap about it please? Quality, price ? Or just got styles wrong ?

OP posts:
stillvicarinatutu · 12/11/2021 18:39

It got better reviews than lookeiro....

I did two boxes n kept two things but I stopped just because lockdown happened and I was never leaving the house or going anywhere to justify the cost!

AreYouRightThereSkippy · 12/11/2021 18:43

It was overpriced for low quality clothing, I felt. I got a lot of their own brand stuff; brands like "mauvette", "market and spruce", "editors cut".

I got one nice dress that I kept and it literally fell apart after a few washes. It went straight into the textiles recycling at the dump. Couldn't donate it.

The styles were often dated and the colours were so, so drab. I ordered a box in the middle of summer and got loads of dark navy. I also felt as if they were offloading old stock. So many ugly dresses and they never sent me things I specifically requested.

krazipan · 12/11/2021 18:45

Stitch fix was ok. Lookiero was absolutely awful! Drab, boring and frumpy.

AreYouRightThereSkippy · 12/11/2021 18:47

There was a thread on here a few months ago where the op had got a really awful haul from Lookiero. Awful. I don't personally think my Stitch Fix boxes were much better.

I think I just need to buy my own clothes. I did it to save time and it ended up being irritating.

SkippettyDoDah · 12/11/2021 18:53

I liked the fact you could specify what fabrics you (don't) want and got a couple of things that I still wear but the last two boxes were terrible and so I quit. I think they just saw 40-something and sent what they thought middle-aged women ought to wear. It was outstandingly drab. I thought the whole point was to try new styles.

WakeUpLockie · 12/11/2021 18:53

I had a few boxes and stopped when I got pregnant. Their mauvetye jeans are PERFECT for me so next time I might just request a whole box of those. It’s pretty standard clothing but I got a few nice Mango things. A lot of the suggestions were quite frumpy/officey but you can reject them before they send them out.

Happyelfjokeday · 12/11/2021 19:02

It’s ok. I had a few boxes and gradually sent more & more stuff back. Was good for sending me a few things I wouldn’t have ordinarily picked

stillvicarinatutu · 12/11/2021 21:23

Just previewed my items - confused.

A couple were awful and I said no
There were 3 pairs of jeans so said no to one

Now it says they're choosing 5 new items ? Some of the stuff was ok I'd said yeah fine

My first was fab! Totally my style… and then it’s gone rapidly downhill to some kind of frumpy mumsy pit of doom.

Lookiero was worse though. Cheap crap and incredibly dull.

dropitlikeitsloth · 12/11/2021 22:30

It’s really hit and miss. I’ve had some items I couldn’t be without now, some perfect jeans, a jacket and a jumper but I find a lot of it overpriced for what it is and I had to move my age down by 10 years because I was getting some really frumpy stuff my 60 year old Mum wouldn’t have even worn. Be aware as well that a lot of the items on the style shuffle are no longer available too.

HostessTrolley · 13/11/2021 00:50

I just got a lovely soft grey wrap top in my last box, cosy and flattering. And a pair of soft grey loungey joggers - if I put them on together it looks like a onesie so maybe not! In the same box I got a dress that I didn’t like - too polyester-y and too high necked, a light green jumper that was nice but the sort of thing that would go fuzzy when washed, and a ribbed jumper that was nice but too tight.

I’ve been getting a stitch fix box alternate months for quite a while, only once have I sent the whole lot back, I usually buy a couple of items

stillvicarinatutu · 20/11/2021 19:13

Well. I'm not sure who the stylist was dressing me or an 80 year old . I'd filled in the style quiz , gave my stats , told them nothing frumpy and that my best feature was my legs . So I got 2 pairs of horrendous baggy jeans, a jumper that my Nan might have worn with a shawl collar , a weird dress with elastic round the middle that didn't actually sit on the waistline.
I kept one overpriced blouse just to get my tenner back . Don't think I'll be getting the next box ! It would have come to over £200 and to say they got it wrong was an understatement!

I found a service called thread, they show you styles and if you purchase through their site they get commission. You can indicate the price you are willing to pay too.

Tig33 · 20/11/2021 19:40

I was disappointed by stitch fix too. Similar to you I said I liked dresses and they kept sending me jeans each time so I gave up. Think I kept three things - one dress (yay) a top and a skirt, out of six or seven boxes

LivingDeadGirlUK · 21/11/2021 12:54

I've had 5-6 boxes in the past, its either all great or all crap. I think its expensive, and I've had stuff full price that is on sale in other places. My last box had some lovely Joules trousers and a really nice green plether skirt that I would never have tried but looked fab, then I had to loose weight for medical reasons and these are too big! I've decided to cancel as its just a bit to spendy tbh.

Ha I was constantly asking for non skinny jeans last year and never ever got any, maybe its worth another try!
SilverOtter · 22/11/2021 12:16

I really like Stitch Fix. I can't afford it very often but it's a nice treat when I do get a box.

I've probably had 3 or 4 boxes now, and have kept items from each box. My last box I kept everything (I was going to send one item back, but when I factored in the 20% discount for buying everything, the extra item only cost me about an extra £3).

I don't like their own brand jeans, the material went all thin, saggy and holey after a few washes☹️

I've had a lovely stripy jersey dress that I've worn loads over the summer, plus a couple of nice cardigans that go with everything😂

If anyone fancies trying it with £15 off, here is my link www.stitchfix.co.uk/invite/x277dzhwyh?sod=i&som=c

Katkincake · 29/11/2021 21:02

Just had my second box today. Sent back all of the first and have kept one top that I like from this one. Think I’ll duck out now as I’d prefer to order things from ASOS or John Lewis and send it back if no good as I’m not getting anything really different or inspiring. A colleague swears by them though, I’m glad I gave them a try.

Pootle40 · 30/11/2021 21:07

Out of interest....is it just me but my daily quiz/shuffle is full of shit. Tie die t shirts, long baggy cardigans......stuff I haven't seen in shops for years. Plus even though winter the suggested outfits are all shorts and sandals 🤷🏻‍♀️

Snally82 · 01/12/2021 18:54

Yep loads of shorts and waterfall cardigans that I wouldn’t even buy for my mother

Darkpheonix · 01/12/2021 19:04

I have just had my 2nd box. I kept a jumper and pair of nice loungewear trousers type things and a jumper from the second.

They keep insisting on sending me either frilly sheer, flowery tops or animal print. Even though I have said I like neither.

Not sure if I will get another tbh.
