Just that really. Had it done yesterday, I have pics and happy to talk about it if anyone is considering it.

I have watched a few YouTube videos on thread lifts, it looks brutal! Do they really allow beauticians, as well as qualified surgeons, to do it? It's essentially a minor surgery isn't it?

wizzywig · 14/11/2021 11:48

Hi, was this the first procedure you've had? So any peels/ laser/ fillers etc?

Delatron · 14/11/2021 11:52

I think it looks great OP. Of course you want it to be subtle. Why would we want our faces to look dramatically different?
We’re talking about mms making a difference when it comes to the sagging of the face. A tiny bit of lift does wonders but looks very subtle.

Even a slight jowling can be more ageing than fine lines and wrinkles. When you stand a few feet away from someone what do you see? You can’t see fine lines from a distance so apparently we look at the contours of the face to determine age.

Completely agree with your strategy about working on the scaffolding of the face and not stressing about lines having loads of Botox. I think that’s the mistake women can make 40+ relying on Botox then you have a smooth forehead and slightly saggy face. It looks all wrong.

PeachMelba78 · 14/11/2021 11:56

@Thefartingsofaofdenmarkstreet I went to a qualified and experienced dr who does a range of procedures. I wouldn’t let just anyone touch my face.

@wizzywig first one. Microneedling this year as a first measure.

@Delatron I am the same age as Katie Price and I think that’s a good example of overdosing on fillers!

@PeachMelba78 it really is!

Fillers are so hard to get right. I’m very tempted to just go straight for the thread lift. I hate the puffy, overfilled look. And if you do nothing to tighten the skin you’re just filling slightly saggy skin which doesn’t look good.

FlyingLoo · 14/11/2021 12:36

Thanks for the explanations Smile

EllaPaella · 14/11/2021 12:50

I can see a subtle difference in before and after pics and it looks good. I think I would be far too worried about the risks of the sutures becoming infected to ever do this. Sutures being left in situ for up to 3 years? Or do they dissolve fairly quickly? What risk of infection did they quite you when you signed the consent form OP?

PeachMelba78 · 14/11/2021 12:58

@EllaPaella I can’t remember as my initial consultation was some time ago, but I am more than happy with the healing. And I have had dissolvable stitches several times and it is similar to this, but appreciate it’s not for everyone.

@inmyslippers

I can't see any difference. Would you be tempted to go for a surgical face lift? I've heard people having threads and the affects disappear in a fortnight
Sadly the 'disappear in a fortnight' was me too. Once the swelling was gone, so was any benefit. And I went to an experienced and highly qualified doctor. It all depends on how you personally react.

I can't do botox either, my body eats it almost as soon as it's injected. The first time I tried it, I had six full treatments all two weeks apart, and then I gave up. There was literally no difference. I tried once more but after four lots of injections and no difference I gave up on that one and decided it wasn't for me. Yet fillers work incredibly well, and the effect lasts far longer than the claims for them.

justwantkindnessinmylife · 14/11/2021 23:21

Hi I'm looking into Glasgow clinics can you recommend one?

PeachMelba78 · 15/11/2021 06:29

@justwantkindnessinmylife I will PM you.

I'd imagine the initial effect is from swelling, which is why for some the effects only last a fortnight. I cannot see how a thread can "hold up" a muscle.

PeachMelba78 · 15/11/2021 09:14

I have no swelling now, skin feels normal. I have attached another picture, I will of course be looking to see how it holds up as time goes on.

DameMaureen · 15/11/2021 10:10

Looks even better now!

notapizzaeater · 20/11/2021 16:17

Wow, my mums looking at this - thank you

Lucia1234 · 06/05/2022 11:05

Hi I think you look great I'm considering this treatment but I really am a novice when it comes to all this, I've never had any cosmetic procedure before. When I tried to get information on google it says something about smooth or barbed threads??? Did you have a choice at your clinic? I thought barbed as it would pull everything up more but my clinic just offer PDO threads and didn't distinguish so it's given me major doubts as to what I am having as I have saved hard for this procedure and really can't afford to get it wrong. Any advice would be gratefully received TIA

PeachMelba78 · 06/05/2022 13:15

@Lucia1234 I know the clinic I went to did both types of thread - mine are spiral which is what was recommended for me.
I am still happy with my lift but I did end up having a tiny bit of filler in my nasal folds as I still wasn’t happy. I’ll attach a pic

PeachMelba78 · 06/05/2022 13:18

Here’s both sides, filler was about 2 months ago so fading now

Lucia1234 · 06/05/2022 14:17

Thanks for replying I will make an appointment with them and will take their advice.

octopusdweller · 06/05/2022 15:00

I don't understand people saying they cannot see the difference. I can see it really clearly!

PeachMelba78 · 06/05/2022 15:09

@Lucia1234 I don’t think anyone I know has noticed - fine with me!
