Just that really. Had it done yesterday, I have pics and happy to talk about it if anyone is considering it.

Could you say the place in Glasgow or DM me? Glasgow is nearer to me. I think I may be needing corrective work soon!

PeachMelba78 · 12/11/2021 20:16

@Missatkins I agree I am lucky with my lips, except lipstick looks weird on me 90% of the time. Luckily my natural lip colour is quite rosy.

@ButYouGottaHaveASkillJeff I have PMed you

@SmileyClare many many people get stuff done for themselves . At the end of the day it is about you and the mirror .

Soontobe60 · 12/11/2021 20:37

I looked at the before photo and honestly couldn’t see why you would need anything done. You look about 30! TBH I can’t see any difference either, but it’s hard to tell with photos that haven't been done professionally.

PeachMelba78 · 12/11/2021 20:45

@Soontobe60 that’s very kind. For me I was self conscious about my lines and folds and wanted a small lift, which hopefully I have. If no one else notices (and they haven’t yet) then that’s fine with me.

Wow, you can definitely see a positive change already. I also am really pleasantly surprised by the cost, unless you accidentally missed a zero! 😁
I haven't read all your updates yet but if you haven't already said, may I ask the following:
Had you been considering this procedure for a while and how did you choose where/who to do it? Personal recommendation or been there before etc?
How long will it take to settle down and for the full effects to be visible?
Am I correct in thinking that the threads will eventually be absorbed or do they have to be removed?

Hope that's ok to ask. Love learning about things like this, so thanks for posting and your candid response.
Your face looks beautiful before and afterwards but it's how You feel that is the only thing that matters! x

FlyingLoo · 12/11/2021 21:11

Hi op,

It looks good SmileI can definitely see the difference it does look subtle but definitely an improvement so just what you’d want really.
I’m a similar age to u and have always been told I look younger than my age but now it’s catching up on me and my face is showing it’s age in exactly the same places as u were so maybe that’s why I easily see the difference. I do sometimes think about getting something done but then I think where will it end Confused
Can I just ask why u say u want to avoid fillers please? I thought the ones available nowadays were meant to be pretty good with minimal invasive work . Do I have it wrong??

IAmTheLovechildOfYvesAndIsabel · 12/11/2021 21:16

Right, just read all of the thread so far and you pretty much answered all my questions Blush already, sorry about that!

5128gap · 12/11/2021 21:17

Fillers and threads do very different things. Fillers are to replace lost volume, threads are to lift. Fillers used to be used for folds but its not really natural as they're not caused by lost volume in the area but by sagging from above. Replacing lost volume in your cheeks can give a slight lift but nowhere near what can be achieved with threads, which actually pull the sagging skin back to its original position, and stimulate collagen so it holds up better going forward.

PeachMelba78 · 12/11/2021 21:22

@IAmTheLovechildOfYvesAndIsabel it was £200/250 deposit and £550 on the day. Should last 18 months to 2 years, they will be absorbed eventually, like dissolvable stitches.
I feel much happier already so that’s good!

PeachMelba78 · 12/11/2021 21:27

@FlyingLoo I want to avoid fillers as I want my face to not be too plump, so a little bit to soften a line or fill an area like tear trough I am ok with but I don’t want too much on my face, I am ok with some lines, for me it is about the scaffolding of the face, preserving that, like Helen Mirren - age lines but great bone structure and little sagging around the jaw and mouth.

@5128gap exactly!

There is a difference and I'm very tempted to have this done also. It looks great.

SD1978 · 12/11/2021 21:39

@PeachMelba78 - can you PM me the place? Would be interested in comparing them to places in Edinburgh as planning on doing this on my next trip home!

PeachMelba78 · 12/11/2021 21:43

@SD1978 just PMed you

It looks great. Very subtle and just a fresher look overall. Thank you for posting about it!

Wedowonder · 13/11/2021 07:25

£700 is very cheap for threads.

This is a generalisation:
To the pp who is concerned about the puckering. The images I see of puckered threads always seem to have been done by beauty therapists, rather than medics.
They seem to go for a more extreme result and so the puckering is probably because they have pulled more tightly for this extreme result.
I hope your puckering improves.

Pippi1970 · 13/11/2021 07:28

Wow. You look great in all pics. I honestly don't think you needed it done though.

AlwaysLatte · 13/11/2021 07:31

You wuz robbed
Intelligent contribution.
Looks great, op. I've never even heard of this but really would consider it. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for starting this thread!

I have just had my 3 month check for this procedure. I had the same 4 threads and paid a discretionary £600 ( have known the Doctor for years )

To be honest, though I can definitely feel a difference around the jawline (when I lower my head I see and feel less sagging than before )
For me, the difference was not worth the time or discomfort involved ( sleeping propped up for a week for one 🥴 )

I have a petite face with full cheeks and quite heavy jowling.

I had strong post-procecure puckering on my right side particularly ( covered it with sunglasses and a covid mask, as it was sunny at the time ) This lasted a week or so.

Just had abit of botox as an addition and in a month, I will be having a check up and probably some fillers then.

I'm 52 and think threads was definitely a one-off for me and I will think about a lower face lift eventually, I miss my jawline!
( anyone fancy starting a thread? 😁 )

You look great OP btw x

Westerman · 13/11/2021 08:22

I think you look great, OP. As you say, a subtle difference but that's what keeps you looking like you.

I don't want to go off topic too much, but I'm quite interested in microneedling. Do you find it effective? In what way? Price? I'm near to Glasgow so would love to know where you go. Thanks and hope your pain subsides quickly!

I'm the same age as you and have had threads twice to the jaw line and mid face in a three year period. I find it lasts about a year before it starts to slacken, but in fairness i have put them through their paces as lost 2 stone in that time, which caused volume loss in my face,. I have seen real benefits to my skin condition which I wasn't expecting, and personally found the cost snd discomfort worth it to hold the line fir a while. Like you, I will eventually go for a lower face lift but the time is never right for the recovery.
Pippi1970 · 13/11/2021 08:48

I've lost a stone and a half and it's wreaked havoc with my face Sad

Universeandeverything · 13/11/2021 08:54

I don’t know if I can see any difference tbh. I had eye trough and cheek fillers and it was so subtle it was barely noticeable after a couple of days. It wasn’t worth the discomfort and expense. You are obviously happy with it which is the important thing.
