I'm in love with these teal boots

On a middle aged woman who generally dresses middle aged they're going to look like clown shoes, aren't they?

I'm imagining them with dresses and thick tights or wide leg jeans.

Separately what boots do go with wide leg jeans? I'm still sticking with trainers but need something for winter.

Sadly I don’t think wide leg jeans and boots ever really work, unless you’re going for an edgy fashion angle, it’s very hard to make them look good.

I think slightly cropped, straight legged jeans would work best with these boots, as well as a denim/pelmet style skirt with thick tights.

SavoyCabbage · 09/11/2021 19:59

I like them. They aren't a bright in your face teal. And Ecco! Imagine the comfort!

Morgantowers · 09/11/2021 19:59

I really like them. I think they’d look great with longer length dresses and of course any trousers even slim ones.

BlueFlavour · 09/11/2021 20:01

Of course you can wear them Smile
They are really nice
Get them

Flingingmelon · 09/11/2021 20:03

When you say 'dress middle age' do you mean Boden? Cos? Something else?

GemmaRuby · 09/11/2021 20:03

Much nicer than I was imagining from the description, l really like them.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 09/11/2021 20:04

They look so good and they will be so comfortable! I'd wear them with a skater dress and some opaque tights.

LawnFever · 09/11/2021 20:05

I love them, you’ll look great! Buy them Grin

My current favourites are Mint Velvet and Monsoon but Boden has been known to feature in my wardrobe for work. I like colour and pattern!

They look amazing. Lots of ways to wear them. Buy them and try a few looks with them! They def don’t look like clown shoes

Wear em and be proud

AltitudeCheck · 09/11/2021 20:08

Love! Buy them! 🤩

Spiceup · 09/11/2021 20:08

I'm actually tempted to get them and try and build a capsule wardrobe around them. What do I need?!

I bought the red version this time last year. They’re great - I’ve worn them loads.

PittaMyBread · 09/11/2021 20:11

Ooh they are awesome! Although not with wide leg jeans!

Spiceup · 09/11/2021 20:13

I love my wideleg jeans that MN persuaded me were the future but have no idea how to wear them.

With the boots I would go fairly muted - eg black long sleeved dress and thick tights. Let the boots star!

I like wide legged jeans in the summer with sandals, converse etc but can't get on with them in the winter - they get damp and can't find footwear to go either.

LizzieMacQueen · 09/11/2021 20:59

I have a pair of ecco boots (not like these mind you) and they are very comfortable. But. Wait until there's a promo on or, like me, try and blag one instore. Usually if you say you'll order at home, you know, look for a discount or new customer discount, they'll match that in store,

Pheasantlysurprised · 09/11/2021 21:22

I one tout today wearing something like the model on the OP's picture.
It was pouring down.
At first I was disheartened and wondered whether I ought to have worn my technical crap with leggings.

Strangely,, the skirt and tights dried faster than jeans or leggings :nothing cold sticking to my legs. And the wool jacket dried off in ten mins at home later. I was sad not to have a hood as my hair is porous and frizzy, but the hat and scarf kept it in check.

It's odd how we always feel we have to wear jeans to keep warm and dry. From now on, unless I am hiking, I will be sticking to boots with a skirt!

Pheasantlysurprised · 09/11/2021 21:24

And op if you think normal lace up boots are clownish on anyone over 40 you need to get out more. That is a terribly repressed way to live, and most people look just fine, however old they are.

I think it's the fact that they are a colour that made her think they might be clown like. Not the fact they have laces.

Even if she does 'need to get out more' I think it's highly unlikely she's never seen lace up boots before. Confused

3luckystars · 09/11/2021 21:41

They are too expensive for me but they really are lovely!

WaltzingBetty · 09/11/2021 22:50

I have these ones

www.moshulu.co.uk/product/bardsey-1377#mz-expanded-view-10086445688

Significantly cheaper and v comfy
Love the colour too

Holothane · 09/11/2021 22:52

Love them I’d wear with skinny jeans or black leggings can’t manage the laces now though.

dontgobaconmyheart · 10/11/2021 09:28

They aren't as bad as I thought they might be, for ecco (which just isn't my bag at all, sorry). They're a nice colour though and I'm sure will be very comfortable. I'd absolutely get them if you love them OP, it's early on in the season so you should get a lot of wear from them to offset the price.

If they dont go with much in your wardrobe however, buying clothing to go with them realistically means the whole endeavour would be very pricey. I'd add up what I'd spend on clothes, add that to the boot cost and then decide if I'm happy with that outgoing that just because I like the boots- but it goes without saying I'm frugal and boring. I do have a capsule wardrobe so am strict.

MrsCardone · 10/11/2021 09:32

Oh, they’re fab!
