If you're 5ft5 and 13st12lbs(ish) what size clothes do you wear?

VsgKitt · 06/11/2021 14:47

I had a gastric sleeve 3 months ago and have lost nearly 50lbs.

I haven't bought any new clothes yet as I will continue losing weight for a while but my clothes are very baggy now.

I have no idea what size I am, most shops still don't allow you to use changing rooms so I am going to order some bits online.

I understand everyone's shape is different but just looking for a ball park size to order to try

Thanks

I’m about there and a size 16.

M&S have changing rooms open now.

HermioneWeasley · 06/11/2021 14:52

I’m a little bit less than that and I take a size 16 bottom 14 top.

schmalex · 06/11/2021 14:55

Surely people will be different sizes depending on body composition. Plus different brands have different sizes. I always take my measurements and then look at the size chart on each brand's website.

I'm just looking to get basics like leggings and Tshirts.

I won't spend ' good jeans' money until I'm settled in a long term weight.

When I was around that weight, I was around a 14/16 top and 18 bottoms

whatswithtodaytoday · 06/11/2021 15:00

I was about a 16, maybe small 18 at that weight.

Next, M&S and FatFace all have changing rooms open. In fact the only one I've seen closed was Sainsbury's, and that was often closed pre-Covid.

VsgKitt · 06/11/2021 15:14

Thanks. I'll order a few things in a 16

16 I am 5ft 6 but about that weight as postnatal and my weight is mostly still on my stomach

Kitfish · 06/11/2021 15:29

Hi I'm 5ft 6 and 14 stone and am a size 20. I think size 16 will be too small for you.

The stuff that is hanging off me is a size 20/22 x

I would really really refer to the size chart unless you enjoy sending clothes back. Also read reviews!

NameChange74567 · 06/11/2021 16:12

I'd say 16. I'm 5ft4 and 13st, I wear a 14 top and bottom.

CoastalWave · 06/11/2021 16:13

Crazy how people's heights and weights and dress sizes vary so much!

I'm 5'3, 12 stone and i"m a size 16.

Youdoyoutoday · 06/11/2021 16:20

I'm 5.6 and 14 stones and wear size 18 though I'm losing weight too so clothes are getting baggy.

Youdoyoutoday · 06/11/2021 16:20

Oh and good luck with the weight loss

ApolloandDaphne · 06/11/2021 16:25

I am 14st and a 5'6". I wear a size 16.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/11/2021 16:38

Toddlerteaplease · 06/11/2021 16:38

Depends on whether you've got much in the way of loose skin with such a quick weightloss and whether you are longlegged or, like me, of a stumpy persuasion.

I'd say a 16 is most likely, but if you have a smoother tummy area and longer legs, a 14 is possible in terms of leggings and anything with a high elastane content, as they're stretchy enough to give you some leeway - higher waisted items are more comfortable.

Source - I'm a stone heavier, same height and have lost about the same amount of weight this year but more slowly - my tailored 18s are too loose and billowing out around my legs when not actively trying to fall down and my gym gear is all comfortable 16s (14 tops are on the shopping list, though, as they're also very baggy now)

No lose skin yet but still very overweight in tummy area, that's where I hold my weight, so am 100% sure I will have a large apron of skin once I reach my goal. Which is of course, preferable to 7 stones of fat!

When I was that size I was size 18. I seem to hit size 16 about the 13½ stone mark.

BabCNesbitt · 06/11/2021 19:12

These threads always boggle my mind. At my heaviest I’ve been 10st 8lb and at that point I was almost a size 16.

EssexLioness · 06/11/2021 19:13

I used to be 5ft 4 and weigh 13st13, was a size 18

That's nice, dear.
