Olaplex is it worth it??

Just wondering if it is worth it, I have heard great things about it and also others saying they don't see much difference after using it.

I have had balayage recently with bleach so my hair gets knotty and I hate that feeling.

Also what products are best to use?

Yes. No 3 has the biggest effect in my experience but only if I leave it in 6 hours plus or overnight.

SRK16 · 03/11/2021 19:54

For me, no. I have the hair mask one and the leave in conditioner. I wouldn’t buy again.

scooterbear · 03/11/2021 20:08

I love the number 3-it was great. I've read good things about the Superdrug dupe however which is half the price.

Hazel444 · 03/11/2021 20:10

It’s transformed my fine frizzy flyaway heat damaged hair. I had the 1&2 at the hairdresser and use 3 each time I wash my hair which is twice a week. I
leave it on for about 20 mins and my hair is softer, shinier and no longer frizzy. I guess it works better on some hair than others and it works brilliantly on mine :)

SierraJulietGolf · 03/11/2021 20:15

For me absolutely. I have thin, brittle, fine, dull hair (thanks menopause ). I started using 0 and 3 last year, then added in 6 and 8. my hair has never looked better. It’s less brittle, thicker, has a shine and looks much healthier. This week I got the shampoo and conditioner and I had no knots when I combed it through and after I washed and dried it it looked sleek and (for me) lovely. I’m really impressed. I have used Davines, Aveda, Kerastase and they were ok but didn’t make my hair look noticeably better. My friend said my hair is the best she’s ever seen it and I’ve known her for over 30 years.

curiouscat123 · 03/11/2021 20:31

YES. I agree that 3 has the biggest effect.

I have 1&2 in the salon, and I use 3,4,5 plus the 4in1 mask at home.

The 4in1 mask is new and it does the job, but 3 is SO GOOD.

I've had bleached hair for years and it's really sorted it out. As well as using a decent heat/UV spray protector - I use Living Proof Perfecting Spray, which is also a detangler.

Also I've found that clipping it back rather than tying it with a hair tie makes a difference if you get knots/breakage.

I have no 3 and it makes a huge difference to my hair. Worth every penny.

Curious as to what those who use multiple olaplex products do - do you alternate? Am worried about the time commitment of adding more products.

GrrrlPwr · 03/11/2021 22:46

I bought the 8second wonder stuff from L'Oréal. It is really good. But I haven't compared it to olaplex. Has anyone else?

Am growing my hair, so would like to maintain it!

SummerStressing · 03/11/2021 23:05

John Lewis currently have a travel set of 0 and 3 for £15. It’s a great chance to try it. I did and was impressed.

sarah13xx · 03/11/2021 23:13

Yes! A lot of money but even the tiny ones make a big difference. My hair has suddenly become long and thick for the first time ever. I’ve spent years dying it blonde and have just recently been pregnant so it’s either the olaplex or being pregnant but it looks and feels so much better

SierraJulietGolf · 03/11/2021 23:19

I use 0 once a month which I use with 3.

I use 3 before I wash once a week. Just wet my hair and leave it on for around 30 mins.

I only wash my hair twice a week but once a week in addition to 3 I add in the no.8 mask afterwards which I just rinse out after 30 mins or so. You don’t wash it out just rinse thoroughly with warm water. My hair was in a real state but if it wasn’t I think I’d use the 0 and 8 less often . I think soon I’ll start going longer between using these two. The 6 I just apply before I blow dry. I don’t use a mousse or any other styling product.

Lightswitch123 · 03/11/2021 23:21

No. Made a Difference but not worth it for the price. There are better products

saffronesque · 03/11/2021 23:43

@Lightswitch123
What is better?

To OP & PP: I started with #0 & #3 & left them in overnight, then #6 #7 on towel dry hair.

After 3 months I stopped using #0 every time, & more recently switched to L'Oréal 8 second treatment & wonder hair mask. Bit too oily after about 4 goes, so switched back to Olaplex & feeling happier.

I think that I will alternate between the two going forward, as I do like the 3 days of smooth hair I get from 8 second wonder, but Olaplex overall has improved has made the biggest difference to my post menopausal greying hair.

MoltonSilver · 04/11/2021 00:00

3 did nothing much at all for my hair. Philip Kingsley Elasticizer however works magic.

Was about to say the same.
Anordinarymum · 04/11/2021 00:28

Have tried all these expensive things in the past. Co-washing was the answer for me. I tub of ASIAM lasts for ages and is kind to hair. I never have frizz or dry hair ever

SometimesRavenSometimesParrot · 04/11/2021 01:04

Get a bottle of three and use it once a month, then in between use the garnier banana mask. Olaplex adds protein to your hair so you must make sure it gets moisture too!

melonhead · 04/11/2021 02:24

It did nothing for my very thick frizzy wavy hair! But hyauralonic acid for hair from inkey list is helping and is tonnes cheaper.

NadiaVulvokov · 04/11/2021 03:15

Yes. I use 0 and 3 at home. 1’ve had it n the salon whilst having my hair coloured too. Brilliant stuff.

user1471464702 · 04/11/2021 03:23

Hi there can you give me a name of the Superdrug dupe no 3 thanks ps it does work generally and my hairdresser says it is the only product that chemically restructures hair

noideabutstilltrying · 04/11/2021 03:43

I've used olaplex 3,4,5 & 6. My hair dresser uses some of the others when bleaching my hair. The breakage when I use them has been minimal. The feel of it is lovely.

Stopped using for a few weeks and could tell the difference. Im having to watch the pennies at the moment.

Currently using Plex from revolution beauty and could by the set I use for £28. It's just as good and seems a bargain 🙂

merrymelody · 04/11/2021 03:52

Number 3 is brilliant

partario · 04/11/2021 05:04

@user1471464702 it's this one

VickyPollardsTracksuit · 04/11/2021 05:19

That one has really bad reviews on Superdrug

farnworth · 04/11/2021 06:08

Yes, can see difference - does make hair thicker / softer/ healthier.
I use number 8. Was recommended by excellent hairdresser.
Expensive but you use a tiny amount once a week. Meant to leave in for 10 mins. I wash hair and rub in at start of long shower (sometimes clean shower whilst in there 😀) then rinse off at end of shower!
