What coat are you wearing right now?

The weather has certainly turned and this morning felt icy. I was in my (several years old) Karen Millen trench, and although it's lined, it felt a bit too thin for the early morning. I have a thick winter wool coat, but I'd be boiling in the tube & it would probably too warm for later in the day. All my coats are at least 2-3 years old so I'm surreptitiously eyeing up new ones.

What is everyone else wearing this week?

I'm in a sensible waterproof walking type coat.

Send help Grin

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 03/11/2021 14:32

I’m getting a cheap as chips waxed jacket soon, it’s needed here! Nothing wrong with sensible outerwear.

EdenFlower · 03/11/2021 14:40

If it's raining I'm wearing my Seasalt janelle, and if not a grey wool coat from Boden or my camel long wool coat from Other Stories.

justswaying · 03/11/2021 14:45

I'm wearing my double faced cashmere oversized jacket. It's light grey so really shouldn't be very practical but I get it out year after year. It cost a small fortune but I think I'm on year 5 or 6 now so cost per wear is nearly reasonable Grin

I can wear it smart or over leggings and a hoody and it still looks good! (IMO)

I keep grabbing the inner padded coat part of my Cragshopper waterproof coat.

And when it rains I just wear the waterproof outer part.

I have other coats but they're my go to for the mommy

DialsMavis · 03/11/2021 17:08

A knee length Zara puffa thing that I was worried was mumsy and boring, but apparently I look like a drug dealer in it HmmSad.

jerometheturnipking · 03/11/2021 17:13

A Rab Cirrus Alpine. If it's wet I wear my Patagonia Torrentshell. If it's freezing and wet I wear both.

GoingForAWalk · 03/11/2021 17:17

*for the moment

ceeveebee · 03/11/2021 17:38

Padded black long(ish) coat from lululemon which is warm and also pretty waterproof

On warmer and dry days, my Rick Owens suede jacket (while I still can!)
My hooded Reiss coat on rainy days.
And a fitted Chanel ski jacket on freezing mornings like this morning. (It’s like wearing a duvet!)

A mid thigh down jacket from M&S about 2 years ago. Just right for this time of year.

https://www.passenger-clothing.com/collections/womens-jackets/products/flora-long-insulated-jacket-chinchilla-brown This one - alternating with my Jack Wolfskin Crystal Palace coat for even colder days. This is pretty warm though.

LalalalalalaLand123 · 04/11/2021 17:44

Next mid-thigh padded coat. Very old, lining is all torn lol

FoggySpecs · 04/11/2021 18:36

An old Max Mara black swing coat. It is wonderfully soft.

Puppylucky · 04/11/2021 18:51

I'm layering like a mad thing! I've come to the sad conclusion I'm too short and fat for a padded coat and wool coats feel too formal for my mostly WFH days, so I'm combining a fleecy shirt from Weekend with either a lumberjack check wool shacket from La Redoute or a faux leather oversize blazer from River Island, topped with a fleece gillet from Warehouse - hopefully more put together than it sounds Grin

Pliudev · 04/11/2021 18:53

A black quilted lightweight coat from Uniqlo. I love it. And when it gets cold I can layer it up with another coat. For dog walking, a Cotton Traders hooded waterproof in truffle. A fraction of the price of Seasalt waterproofs and really surprisingly, just as nice.

Peraltiago · 04/11/2021 18:59

I’m wearing my best ever charity shop find - a mint condition cashmere/wool mix long black Max Mara coat. I get a warm glow of joy when I put it on as it cost me £25! I’ve coveted a Max Mara coat for years but never could justify the cost.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/11/2021 19:09

Berghaus goretex coat (not thick) with either a thin fleece or just a tshirt under. Today no coat, just a slightly thicker fleece in the gorgeous sunshine.

...walking generates heat.Grin

Diva66 · 04/11/2021 19:23

A fabulous red coat I bought from Seasalt a few years ago 🙂

PyongyangKipperbang · 04/11/2021 19:26

This one (but in black and it looks a lot more flattering than those "Sack of spuds tied in the middle" photos!)

www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56506859

All I took from the article was a) shop around and b) Oohh lovely coat....so I bought it :o

RubyTuesday70 · 04/11/2021 19:32

I've got a puffa type jacket from Joules that's perfect for this weather, it's lightweight but toasty warm. For colder dog walking, I've got a Seasalt planthunter coat that's amazingly warm and completely waterproof. I've had it 2 winters and adore it.

For work, I've got a very smart M & S wool dress coat.

IvorCutler · 04/11/2021 19:42

I’m alternating between these and my rains jacket, depending on the weather!

This is what you need. It pops down to a v neck. I have it in black and it means I can wear coats/ jackets for longer.

Onlinedilema · 04/11/2021 19:49

Today I wore my short, lightweight regatta jacket and I was freezing walking back to the car. Might be my grey duffel tomorrow with a scarf.

londonmummy1966 · 04/11/2021 19:56

I'm wearing a Dior men's grey tweed overcoat that I bought in a charity shop 30 years ago. Not dissimilar to this one

www.stories.com/en_gbp/clothing/jackets-coats/woolcoats/product.herringbone-wool-coat-black.1001427001.html?utm_source=Lyst%20UK/EU&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=12344&utm_content=15&utm_term=1012782&ranMID=41994&ranEAID=gcdL/ATRVoE&ranSiteID=gcdL_ATRVoE-Rcg5Ogtlff_kcI0Ex5BrqQ

It is still going strong although the sleeves need relining. A friend gave me a length of bright green Thai silk from Jim Thompson a couple of years ago so I'm thinking of relining in that as it would cheer me up!
