Nitgel · 24/10/2021 09:26

I bought one and tried to but let didn't do anything for me. I have broad shoulders and it just made them look bigger.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/10/2021 09:26

importantly would they suit a plus size?

thedevilinablackdress · 24/10/2021 09:26

Yep, I like them. They are having a bit of a moment.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/10/2021 09:28

they are,
when i googled them 6 months ago, nothing, now lots

Floisme · 24/10/2021 09:31

Yes - I'm looking for one.

Floisme · 24/10/2021 09:32

Last time they were a thing they were quite fitted though whereas the current ones are oversized. I'm looking for a man's.

NotImpossible · 24/10/2021 09:37

I have one but I'm not quite sure how to wear it! It is quite fitted on me though - maybe I need a loose one.

BlueCowWonders · 24/10/2021 09:42

I like them on other people for the layered look but don't think they suit me. Like @Nitgel my shoulders are very broad and I end up looking matronly not current.

Whohashiddenthebiscuits · 24/10/2021 09:55

Also no as I don’t think they’d do anything for me. As we’re heading towards cold weather, I’d rather invest in knits that kept my arms warm too.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/10/2021 09:57

i am picturing them on a slim person tbf,

OP posts:
Impossiblecauses · 24/10/2021 10:02

I love it as a look, but on others, not me, sadly.

It's the layering that throws me. What goes under?

Bring back the Joules gillet and a Breton stripe long sleeve tee! just me then

SmallProvincial · 24/10/2021 10:04

They kinda work for me, I'm on the edge of plus size, primarily in the chest department.

I've got a cable knit grey one which I wear over summer dresses (eg THAT black and white spot Zara dress from 2019) with black wool tights and Chelsea boots as a relaxed Autumn weekend look.

Brightmagic2021 · 24/10/2021 10:05

I think they’re practical but not flattering on me. I’ll probably get one anyway!

KittenKong · 24/10/2021 10:08

Is the 70s back? My granny used to knit these for us (and we hated them - she always made the head holes tiny).

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/10/2021 10:23

dm knitted one for dd in the spring at her request

OP posts:
MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/10/2021 10:24

underneath i am thinking a long sleeved shirt, possibly checked, but who knows

OP posts:
dudsville · 24/10/2021 10:40

I would love one and have seen some beautiful ones, but I don't need focused warmth on my torso and worry I'd just overheat!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/10/2021 10:41

over heating might be an issue, i normally wear cardigans because i cant stand the restriction of jumpers

OP posts:
Clarabellawilliamson · 24/10/2021 11:00

I was just talking to someone the other day about how much I used to like tank tops! I had lots for work, shirt or long sleeved T-shirt underneath. This was 2007-2012 ish. I am much fatter now than then but I think I'm going to try one again. I saw a couple in next.

dudsville · 24/10/2021 11:00

Same here, for me jumpers are only for the absolute coldest of weather. Until then I happily exist in layers of loose cotton.

TheCategoryIs · 24/10/2021 11:08

No, I’m very top heavy, worst thing I could wear. Like the look on others though, quite preppy.

lazylinguist · 24/10/2021 11:19

I like them. They look great on skinny people (which I'm not), but can also look great on non-skinny people if you get the right fit/style. The only one I have is one I knitted myself. It's fairly fitted, with a fairisle yoke. I love it, but I'd also quite like a plainer, slightly slouchier and less thick one.

User7853367 · 24/10/2021 11:33

No I think they look stupid, especially the long baggy ones over dresses.

CambsAlways · 24/10/2021 11:37

No I hate them, would never wear one

thedevilinablackdress · 24/10/2021 11:38

I've got one navy, traditional v-neck, slim fitting that I've been wearing with long sleeve t-shirts and jeans. Another boxy open knit mohair one in a lovely pale peach has just arrived from eBay.
