Hush...the good, the bad, the ugly.

What do hush do well and not in your opinion? I've always found the jewellery to bd cheap and tacky despite the lovely images on the website. What do you live in hush and what don't you?

I like their bags. I did but some canvas shoes high tops (like Converse) more recently and was really disappointed in how cheap they looked. Ended up giving them away Blush

Been a bit meh about ordering any clothes since although I do like the look of their joggers.

Justbetweenus · 21/10/2021 13:32

Knitwear doesn’t stay nice for long - not worth it. Girlfriend chinos were better but I don’t think Hush is good quality for the price.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/10/2021 13:33

I have had knitwear from Hush that looked like an absolute rag after a couple of washes, and ended up being relegated to lounge wear. I wouldn’t buy anything from them ever again, although I do think it looks nice when I see other people wearing it.

roses2 · 21/10/2021 13:42

Got a dress - lined on the bottom but totally see through on top! Not great quality and I wouldn't buy again.

Pheasantlysurprised · 21/10/2021 13:43

Ah, I have long ignored them due to seeing so many thin, shiny fabrics when I used to pass the Hush section in JL years ago. I once tried a couple of items on and the stuff was always oversized and shapeless on me.

However, last summer I purchased 2 dresses, for a reason.
They were the only dresses I could find on the entire market that were lines, with pockets AND had a more defined waist. Everywhere else was oversized with tiers, flounces and had a skirt so voluminous I could hide ten children in it. Nothing anywhere had any semblance of fit or flow over my shape.

So well done Hush for those. I hope they keep up a variety of dress styles, unlike other shops. There are far worse designs for dresses at Brora and Jaeger for over £350.

That said I woudnt trust the knits, they often look spongey and shapeless and look difficult to get under a coat.

I wish there was at least one outlet that created a choice of fitted and loose clothing.
It seems when one single trend enters the market (balloon sleeves) every single damn store only stock those items, even the old stalwarts you used to trust, and finding a decent, more fitted sleeve jumper anywhere is next to impossible.

Geamhradh · 21/10/2021 13:45

Nothing.
It's dreadful quality, and when there are patterns they make Per Una look classy.
I was taken in by the love for Hush threads on here so went to investigate the clothes.
I seriously don't get it.

Jumpingintochristmas · 21/10/2021 13:59

I love their dresses, cost per wear I have Kensington’s that must be down to pennies.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/10/2021 14:07

I have joggers, jeans and sweatshirts that I wear a lot. I've found t-shirts a bit hit and miss. It's not somewhere I'd shop for knitwear.

Mercurial123 · 21/10/2021 15:30

Quality is dire. They probably make a lot of sales through "influencers".

SoLongFurlough · 21/10/2021 15:34

I love their jumpsuits. Probably look a bit meh on the hanger but always admired when I have one on.
For reference I’m a size 12/14 big tummy Blush
Haven’t been overly keen on anything else I’ve bought

LouisaMayAlcott · 21/10/2021 15:52

The only thing I like are the V neck tee shirts. I wear tee shirts every day and I buy a couple every season. But they're the only thing I've got.

neveradullmoment99 · 21/10/2021 15:55

Their leather is beautiful. I have leather leggings, boots, bag, trainers. All fab!
Cashmere used to be utterly amazing. Sadly not as good now but still nice.
Some jewellery can be good. I have a few earrings that are very good quality. Coats and Jackets are excellent.
Dresses, shirts are a bit meh.
As are skirts. Ive had some pretty shit stuff.
Jumpers are usually lovely.

neveradullmoment99 · 21/10/2021 15:56

The t-shirts [ v neck ] get super thing and develop holes but they do generally hold their shape forever.
Long line vests and leggings are fab.

Nitgel · 21/10/2021 15:58

I like them atm esp like the cord joggers and tilda sweatshirts. The dresses suit me too. Been buying them on and off since they launched. It's a good brand.

PalacePaper · 21/10/2021 17:34

I really like the style but as others have said the quality is at best hit or miss so I won't buy from them anymore. I have a pair of their harem pants from a couple of years ago which have lasted really well, but more recently joggers and knitwear have been really disappointing quality-wise Sad

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/10/2021 17:41

I've got 2 cotton jackets which are brilliant quality. A pair of joggers that are okay but ridiculously oversized. A dress that only needs to be looked at to crease. It's not somewhere I'd ever trust online, and rarely in store.

Offredismysister · 21/10/2021 20:00

I’ve got the Lucan Chelsea boots & a denim jumpsuit that I live in. I quite fancy 2 of the roll neck jumpers in the new collection (the fair isle & the colour block), but having had their knits before I know the quality is rubbish. So I won’t bother.

ByThePool2021 · 23/10/2021 22:15

Shorts! They are they only place I now buy my shorts as they just fit me perfectly and look good which isn’t easy when you are on the slightly chunky side. The denim and the chino ones. I’ve bought the odd dress which when they get it right- it’s amazing. And the Tara skirt I think it is - I’ve had for 6years now and still looks good so there are gems.

DramaAlpaca · 23/10/2021 22:23

I've got three things from Hush I adore: a fabulous leather biker jacket, a relaxed blazer, and a gorgeous blouse. All are good quality and fit beautifully. Everything else I've ever bought online from them has been returned. So to me they are hit and miss.

BaggingAria · 23/10/2021 22:28

Dropped sleeve shirts, lovely and drapey in a soft viscose, great with jeans, in subtle prints (stars, cherries, etc).

Seem to have been discontinued but M&S is now rammed full of star print blouses in crispy feeling fabrics.

MsDastardley · 24/10/2021 06:55

Amie joggers and Hattie dress are good. I’ve also got some pure linen joggers which are great. That’s about it

BreakfastOfWaffles · 24/10/2021 07:08

I have so many things from Hush that I love. It's one of my go-to shops as the styles sit well on me. I love their slub t-shirts, most skirts and their chiffon - type dresses. I also a couple of jumpsuits and the hareem pants. I have never bought any knitwear though, as I find Uniqlo much better for that.

SkankingMopoke · 24/10/2021 07:50

I've found them very hit and miss, even amongst similar items. I bought some cropped yoga trousers in black; they continue to be very comfortable and have washed well, looking as good as new 2 years on (and I wear them a lot!). On the back of their success, I bought a navy full length pair but they very quickly wash-faded and had to be relegated to 'house wear' only. It's been a similar story with tops. Some have been awful and lose shape/get holes etc within a couple of months, some still look great years later. The quality is all over the place.

Clickncollect · 24/10/2021 07:57

I’ve lived in their harems since working from home, so comfortable and acceptable when leaving the house. I wore the ruched skirt a lot a few years ago and still have so you’ve reminded me to maybe wheel them out occasionally!
The longline tops are also good and I have a midi shirt dress (black with blue spots) that I like. Oh and their black dungarees.
More than I realised actually!

Karmatime · 24/10/2021 08:06

I like their jeans, I think their sizing has become less generous since a few years ago, I have size 8s that are bigger than recent 10s in the same style. The plain slub v t shirts are a great shape too. I’m not keen on all the viscose and the star motif is too ubiquitous now.
