Hush...the good, the bad, the ugly.

What do hush do well and not in your opinion? I've always found the jewellery to bd cheap and tacky despite the lovely images on the website. What do you live in hush and what don't you?

They excel at pyjamas and their shorts, while over priced, really suit my shape.

I've had bad experiences with pretty much everything else from there. My expensive purchases looked like pile of old rags after a few washes.

I love the denim shorts. I haven’t bought anything else as I suspect it would just look scruffy on me rather than effortlessly relaxed.

I have a star pattern dress I wear to the office. A star sweatshirt and a star t shirt. I see a theme here….

Pjs!

I love the plain slub t-shirts and the longline vests - really good quality and worn for years without looking worn at all. I also have a long viscose dress that I love, a black jumpsuit and some Amie joggers that are great for homeworking.

BUT my experiences with knitwear have been terrible - worst bobbling I've ever seen, so bad I couldn't even de-bobble. And I'm not happy that so many things look interesting and then I see they are polyester :(

Also much as with Boden, there's a "Hush look" that I find very samey and obvious and I avoid all the things that seem to be designed to give you "Hush look".

Got some cord dungarees a few years ago and they're brilliant. They wash well, but unlike most dungarees they rarely even need washing because they hold their shape perfectly. No baggy arse!

I have bought a lot from Hush so far (just became a customer this year), but everything I have bought, I like and is good quality. I have 3 dresses, 3 tee shirts and a lightweight knitted hoody. They are all lovely. Maybe I have been lucky, but I’m a happy customer.

Ooh yes and a lovely Sweatshirt

Their v-neck tshirts sit beautifully on me. I have one jumper that I absolutely love the design of - a sort of rainbow fairisle thing from 2019 or so? - shape seems ok but now I'm wondering. And I'm about to celebrate being out of maternity wear with a couple of their trousers. Hope quality bears out.

I have their cotton utility jacket which I’ve worn non stop in spring/autumn for 4 years and which is fantastic.

I also have a pale pink blazer that I bought with a wedding in mind that I have worn ONCE before relegating it to the back of the wardrobe. Sleeves are absurdly tight and the colour is wishy washy (tbf not hush’s fault it’s not a good colour on me)

I always hear that knitwear is bad but my one black v neck sweater has been great and washes really well. That said I’ve never bought knitwear again as I’ve not seen anything that looks good enough for the price.

Bias cut Grace dress that I ought to love (coveted it for ages as I so rarely see bias cut dresses and then I found it in the sale!) but somehow it’s only ok… the (slight) pattern may make it a bit frumpier than I thought, I can’t really tell. Fits well though and washes well.

All their harems make me look like I’m wearing a nappy so invariably get sent back if I try them.

Leggings very hit and miss, I have two pairs I’ve lived in for years and will be genuinely sad if and when they are ever finally unwearable; I have another pair in the exact same range but a couple of years later that are baggy and look awful. Haven’t bought leggings from them since.

So overall… hit and miss as others have said. They have a few gems, a few ‘oks’ and a few duds. I always look there but I’m very very choosy now and don’t order as much as I did (or wanted to, if I had the budget) a few years ago. I do in fairness try to shop more sustainably now.

I have a few pairs of their denim shorts and like them, they get a lot of wear. I also have some dresses I like - one black mini dress that is a go to when I don’t know what to wear.
I’ve had less luck with their knitwear and won’t buy it now.

Snugglemuffin · 25/10/2021 08:34

I've bought from Hush in the past.

The nicest thing I bought was a t-shirt. It was my absolute favourite, but it developed holes pretty quickly.

Harems fell apart quickly.

A pair of joggers went out of shape at the knees very quickly.

Another t-shirt was utterly ghastly. So ugly. Think I returned immediately.

A couple of dresses were mediocre, but all polyester, so I also returned those.

All in all, I don't love Hush, but I do love that they cater for comfort! That's my priority too. Shame it all falls apart.
