Posh London lunch

Help! I'm going to lunch at a nice London restaurant next month and I really need help finding a pretty dress and (ankle?) boots

I'm currently a size 13 but today is day 1 of my diet and I will try to stick to it. 5.4" so I get drowned if dresses are too long.

I really want to look elegant and together, budget about £150. Can anyone help, I'm open to anything. Never had my colours done but look okay in most except bright red.

Thank you.

Will anyone in the restaurant notice how hard you've dieted and how much you've spent on clothes and how much you've agonized over a lunch date in London? You're sitting down 98% of the time and your host will or should only be interested in the conversation and food not your skirt top or footwear. If those things matter so much that you get into a tizz about what to wear, then you must have a very fragile sense of self worth and no amount of clothing or make- up can hide that.

Your legs will be under the table most of the time.

@LoisLane66 Did that seem like an appropriate message to someone you've already (arbitrarily) diagnosed as having a fragile sense of self-worth? Congrats on your moral superiority 🙄

Go back to bed, you're tired and grouchy Smile

I know @LoisLane66, it is pretty shocking that on the Style and Beauty section of mumsnet you get people interested in their appearance and way in which they present themselves. Thank god for your contribution and lack of judgment.

Enjoy your lunch and outfit OP.

I hope I am never so stuck for something to do that I have to resort to posting multiple times on a board in which I have no interest.

I'm so glad the hush skirt looks good Isla. I would wear with one of the annie sparkle knits from Whistles.

Have a lovely, lovely time, Isla.

Feel beautiful, feel cherished. I've loved sharing your outfit choice - it was fun. I hope you enjoyed it too. It's nice to chat about an outfit and an occasion with friends. Thank you for sharing.

And we may never meet in person but during this friend I felt a warm bond of amity with you. Thank you for that, too.
