“Grown up” perfume for teen

DD14 would like some perfume for Christmas but not one of the brands aimed at teens. She doesn’t know which one and would like a surprise.

Any suggestions? I had thought of Coco Mademoiselle but it might be a bit too girly as her style is quite androgynous.

The Chanel Chance range is aimed at young women and DD had most of those plus some of the Burberry ones at about that age. She also likes Twilly. The Eau Fraiche Chance (green) isn't "girly".

What about Gucci Memoire d’une Odeur? Was recommended to me on here (full disclosure: I am not a teenage girl). Advertised by Harry Styles so might have some street cred there. Herbal smelling so not at all sweet and girly. Not too strong. I like it.

Hugo Boss Hugo or D&G Light Blue.

Both not overly girly and would suit a teen.

JumperandJacket · 10/10/2021 16:06

That’s really helpful- thanks. I will go and give them a sniff.

Perfume is such a personal thing... why not take her shopping to buy one? So she can try it and see if if she likes it

Poppets14 · 10/10/2021 16:34

I’m thinking light and floral?

Daisy by Marc Jacobs
Clinique Happy
Nina by Nina Ricci
Light Blue D&G

These are all quite old but I wore these when I was younger and still love all of them 💕

EvelynBeatrice · 10/10/2021 16:48

Eau de Mademoiselle de Givenchy - currently on offer at TK Maxx! 😃

Geamhradh · 10/10/2021 17:27

Zara also do some great ones, Twilight Mauve (I think it is) is dd's fave but I love it too.

Toastytoads · 10/10/2021 17:31

The original Stells McCartney

Disfordarkchocolate · 10/10/2021 17:34

Have you thought about getting a box from The Perfume Society? Each one has a range samples of various sizes. I've had 3 and they have been great.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 10/10/2021 17:36

When one of my dds wanted perfume, I just waited until a non-Britney Spears/Rihanna perfume was on offer at Savers - I ended up with CK One, which smells quite pleasant.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 10/10/2021 17:37

And, more to the point, DD was happy with it.

EvelynBeatrice · 10/10/2021 17:37

The problem about the perfume society boxes is that often the samples are of niche or very expensive perfumes that she’s unlikely to be able to afford a full size bottle of …,

Eeiliethya · 10/10/2021 17:38

Olympia or Lady Million by Paco Rabanne. Heaven in a bottle.

MisgenderedSwan · 10/10/2021 17:40

Daisy by Marc jacobs is lovely and fresh - grown up and not too floral, might suit her? I love it and not particularly girly and definitely a grown up Grin

Lifeinthescratcher · 10/10/2021 17:40

Cloud Ariane Grande,my teens love it

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 10/10/2021 17:41

Lolita lempicka
Hugo boss can't remywhat it's called but it's deep red colour. Might be called deep red actually.

Calvin Klein - Euphoria.

GoodnightGrandma · 10/10/2021 17:41

My teen and 20’s like the Ariana Grande ones.

goose1964 · 10/10/2021 18:17

LK Bennett signature, it's a bit musky but not hastily so.

Journeynotdestination · 10/10/2021 18:37

Glossier. Youthful brand and the scent is gorgeous.

NalPolishRemover · 10/10/2021 18:46

My 16 year old teen loves Marc Jacobs Daisy

KingdomScrolls · 10/10/2021 18:52

I came on to say Glossier You, it's really nice but subtle. I wear it day to day and get lots of compliments, including from my friend's fifteen year old who pinches it when she comes round (she asks). I've bought her a bottle for her birthday and my friend thinks she'll be thrilled.

MissBattleaxe · 10/10/2021 20:17

@EvelynBeatrice Some Perfume Society Discovery Boxes are a bit niche but the Launches we Love box is fabulous and has loads of High Street favourites.

@jumperandjacket For a teen who doesn't want ten perfume as such, I would suggest Carolina Herrera Good Girl, Davidoff Cool Water for Her, Vera Wang (for the pretty bottles), or Jimmy Choo.

MissBattleaxe · 10/10/2021 20:18

teen not ten

cherrypiepie · 10/10/2021 21:29

I loved getting perfume chosen for me when I was a teen and early 20s! Seemed to be quite quick turnover of fashion trends.

Daisy is lovely it's been around a few years - wonder what the 'new daisy is'. I find it doesn't last very long but is still always have a bottle in the go.

As per a pp Also would look at the saver deals n Superdrug and boots they can be really good value way of finding your favourite scents. Boss femme I've had before and like but didn't rebuy - Lacoste touch of pink worth a try.

Coco Mademoiselle is ok but I've gone of recently it and have worn it for 15 years plus.

Chanel Gabrielle is nice and chance but I don't have them

Allure is my favourite but a bit old fashioned.
