Is this Boden dress appropriate for a 23 year old?

I'm conscious that their main target audience are more around the 30s mark, but I had my eye on this dress for a while and recently got it in the sale. I'm waiting for it to be delivered, but was just thinking that they have a reputation for looking a bit "mumsy"(I'm sans children for now lol!) What do you think?

I like it in theory - unbuttoned with a tan. But as above, Boden is often cut in such a way that never works on me ... waists too high, hips proportionately large to chest.... cut for a short pear shape maybe.

Sooooo I love boden. Seriously if you shop around the site you can find some cool stuff. I am nearly 50. This isn’t cool honestly OP…

The target market for boden is definitely late 30s/40s. People with school aged children I'd say, hence the whole mini boden. Your supposed to be a full boden family on the beach in your second home in Cornwall

You look lovely op!

Boden has some fantastic stuff if you're prepared to trawl through the site. I find their wide leg jeans, trousers, plain tanks, linen dresses etc are well-cut and good quality. 90% of it I wouldn't wear but they're still my go-to for basics.

That dress really suits you op, it'd be too young for me but it's perfect on you. Ignore the naysayers on here!

I think the dress looks lovely on you though suspect any dress would. I would say its more for people in 20s than older with kids, it does remind me of a peppermint candy stick though. Looks like a summer holidays or summer events dress to me.

It looks lovely on you but I just want to draw your attention for your future purchases as to how unethical Boden is as a company in case this is something you generally follow in your shopping habits. I had wrongly assumed they would be better than ASOS etc! They brand themselves as a sustainable retailer.

i really like it to be fair , for all the people on here going on about how mumsy and old it looks the models seem to only looking like they are early twenties and they are looking great in it

It looks good on you. I think that particular dress probably is better suited to younger women but I guess depends on the person.

I wouldn't wear Boden and I'm in my 20s. But then again I probably won't wear it in my 30s or 40s either because it's not my style and don't see that changing too much. However the dress is nice and if you like it and feel it would suit you, then really you don't need to be putting an age range on it.... I'm sure you'll look great!

Looks amazing on you. Do you work for Boden flogging stuff they can't sell it trying to make their target market a lower age group?! If I were 23 (and your size, which I was when I was 23), I'd be wearing All Saints, but I love their stuff.

The negativity earlier in the thread was grim though. We should big other women up and encourage them to wear whatever takes their fancy. Life is too short to worry about whether something is age appropriate or who else likes it.

You look lovely in it, OP, and I like it. I'm 29 and have found stuff in Boden that I liked several times in the past. As with many brands, there's lots I wouldn't wear, but plenty I would. The ethical side has put me off a bit, but I didn't know about that until recently.

I do dislike the tendency on here for accusing people of working for the brand because they post one image of themselves wearing something. I'm aware that it does happen, but, as someone who wears a lot of a certain brand, I've been accused of it in the past and it felt pretty crap and made me feel uncomfortable about contributing to a particular thread for a while in case people felt I was just there as some kind of sneaky marketing tactic.
