Really struggling to find wedding guest dresses I like at the moment (that are in my size and not too expensive).

There are some wrap and shirt style dresses I like, but not sure if they're too casual. Is the one in the link ok?

I think it is lovely...

bekindbekindbekind · 06/10/2021 19:22

It's lovely Smile

TolkiensFallow · 06/10/2021 19:24

Perfect. I’m looking for a winter wedding guest dress myself and have concluded that a wrap dress with sleeves is the right approach

See now this goes to show how differently we perceive things from another and how tastes vary. I clicked on the link and went ‘eurgghh’ at the virulent colour and boring print. Not to be rude. If you like it it’s absolutely fine for a wedding, yes.

pictish · 06/10/2021 19:30

The shape and length is lovely btw.

BiscuitLover09876 · 06/10/2021 19:31

Coast have a sale atm

It is nice though

AnyFucker · 06/10/2021 19:32

It is strangely low cut…

Dressed up though, it is fine for a wedding

Frostine · 06/10/2021 19:33

Silk Feed clothes look lovely but the models are quite tall and the dresses long , I'd buy that in a flash , but think it would be too long for me . How tall are you ?

Frostine · 06/10/2021 19:33

Fred !

flowery · 06/10/2021 19:34

Love the colour and print but it’s far too low cut for me for a wedding.

pictish · 06/10/2021 19:36

Tis actually quite ‘booby’ now you mention it.

MoltonSilver · 06/10/2021 19:36

If that's not to be rude I can't imagine what rude would be like.

TheWonderCat · 06/10/2021 19:40

It’s ok, it doesn’t wow me.

Agree with the pp who said Silk Fred dresses are long, they really are. I’ve got one I’m going to send back as it’s just too long, even around the boob area. And this dress is very low cut.

pictish · 06/10/2021 19:41

Ehhh well I think we’re allowed to be honest on style and beauty..it’s not as though the OP will give a shit what I think. If someone on Mumsnet style and beauty told me my choice of dress was horrible, I wouldn’t care. I can’t imagine anyone would. It was a genuine observation of how we vary in preference and style. Everyone else has responded very favourably.

Lulu1919 · 06/10/2021 19:41

It's lovey
Check out Phase Eight or Whistles they had a sale on in my local branches at the weekend.

Just10moreminutesplease · 06/10/2021 19:43

I really like it OP. It’s perfect for a wedding Smile.

pictish · 06/10/2021 19:43

Apologies if I offended. Didn’t mean to.

DirectionToPerfection · 06/10/2021 19:43

Thanks all. I agree that it's not wow but I'm finding it hard to find stuff I like at the moment.

Not offended at all, happy to get a range of opinions!

I wouldn't wear that for a wedding personally. It looks more like a summer day dress but cut too low. The temptation would be to wear something under it, which would make it even more unweddingy.

For the same price I could find lots of dresses I would prefer.

pictish · 06/10/2021 19:46

OP I’m having a night, are getting a dress at the moment. I have looked everywhere and come up with two. One is unavailable because it was last year’s. One is way too expensive.
I’m not fond of the popular and pervasive midi length, being short of leg.
Everything is midi, maxi or mini. Or a shapeless sack. Or a midi shapeless sack.

1forAll74 · 06/10/2021 19:52

Yes this dress is really lovely,

DoYouLikeOwls · 06/10/2021 20:07

I think its lovely and you can dress it up with heels and a jacket for the actual wedding.

I sent for loads of dresses and being small with big breasts I looked swamped in the dresses with loads of material and not petite.

This looks really comfortable and pretty.

Out of interest what sort of dress would you wear for a wedding? I'm curious what other people like as I've been looking for one for ages.
TheYearOfSmallThings · 06/10/2021 20:51

Last wedding (fairly low key) I wore this dress from Phase 8 with heels and a nice bag. Nothing exciting but no need for body tape!

Is this ok for a wedding?
