Styling mom jeans if you're bigger - updating my look

I'm 2 months post baby and I have reluctantly realised I look very dated and I need help!

I'm a 14/16, fast approaching 40 and my uniform is M&S jeggings and a baggy shirt so I can BF and hide a wobbly tum. Before kids and a pandemic I wore skinny jeans, a blouse or t shirt and a fitted blazer, with ankle boots or Nikes.

Suddenly I feel like a total frumpy dinosaur, and that all my clothes signal I've lost myself and not left the house for 18 months (correct). I really want to feel more confident when seeing friends and colleagues.

I think it's the skinnies that are dating me most. But how do you style mom jeans if you're not slim and 22? Surely tucking in a T will only accentuate my tummy? How do you give yourself some shape? Any Instagrammers who are larger for inspiration?

I've seen And/Or, M&S and Mint Velvet mom jeans recommended here - what's best for a 16?

@sarah20212021 I've got M&S ones. They are various lengths. Mine are not ankle grazers.
They also do flares , which IMO look the same.

Forget them. They’re hideous on The Kids, let alone our age. ( I’m also post baby and lost my previous fashion mojo) everyone will be back in skinnies when it’s time to wear boots again. I live around a million students and there’s still skinnies around.
Flares are coming back in? 70s vibes? The 90s stuff was hideous the first time around and obviously that can’t be worn by us. Yuck.
Apart from that I honestly don’t see ANY strong autumn winter trends for anyone over 30.. I’m looking on Instagram for actual wearable trends and I’m “meh….”
Think I’ll just wear cute hats n boots and try again in Spring…
