Over 50, peri-meno, skin not too bad but could do with some tlc. Bought some Clarins face oil, blue something or other, cannot stand the smell.
Any good recommendations would be most welcome.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Oil is good but it is £41! Smells amazing though, lavender bit not the synthetic stuff.

DrWankincense · 30/09/2021 19:36

I use Elemis Superfood.

Covetthee · 30/09/2021 19:38

Another vote for khiels midnight oil. Smells like a spa. Its pricey but lasts ages as you literally need to use 2 drops.

TottiePlantagenet · 30/09/2021 19:41

Came on to recommend the Clarins oil, I love the smell! Blush One of my few repeat buys.

How about REN's rose oil? The scent is very strong though.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 30/09/2021 19:48

I don't mind spending a bit.
When you say the rose oil is strongly scented , do you mean like rosehip type of smell because I can't stand that either?

I use this I’ve tried a few over the years

I recommend Sanctuary Spa 10-in-1 Super Secret Facial Oil. It's worked wonders on my peri-m skin. It's available lots of places, I got mine from Sainsbury's, about £14, but has lasted ages so far, I'm estimating it'll be a year by the time I've used it up.

IdblowJonSnow · 30/09/2021 19:58

@imnotacelebritygetmeoutofhere

That sounds good. What does it smell like pls?

I have a neal's yard on which I really like.

goose1964 · 30/09/2021 20:02

Not an oil but it gives lovely glowy skin, I put it on before I clean my teeth and tissue it off afterwards

imnotacelebritygetmeoutofhere · 30/09/2021 20:05

@IdblowJonSnow I don't think it smells of anything, just of the oil, but no particular floral or herb or anything, quite neutral.

MissyB1 · 30/09/2021 20:08

I’m 53 I use The Ordinary Rosehip oil. It’s amazing!

HummingBeeBox · 30/09/2021 20:09

Neals yard rose facial oil or rose balm

Geamhradh · 30/09/2021 20:10

I know what you mean about the Blue Orchid. After everyone raving about it for years I bought a bottle, not expecting to be rocking the hairy biker patchouli oil thing!

For more mature skin how about Neal's Yard Frankincense? Or the rose one is nice too.

The Kiehl's Midnight Recovery is a little bit like Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate in that it's more of an oil serum than just an oil. The LE smells divine- (neroli and a hint of lavender iirc) I've repeat purchased that, I tried the Kiehl's but probably wouldn't repurchase.

Real "rose" oils don't smell like rosehip (which I agree has a minging smell) but of proper roses. Also better for mature skin contrary to rosehip which is for first signs of ageing.

NotMyCat · 30/09/2021 20:27

I like
This one smells of neroli

Appreciate the recommendations, what does neroli smell like?
I'm quite smell driven as you can probably tell.

@goose1964 I've used that No 7 mask, quite like it, but I leave it on Confused

This is brilliant - one of Nigella’s beauty secrets apparently. Not perfumed - but maybe you could add a drop of essential oil?
victoriahealth.com/100-pure-prickly-pear-seed-oil/
I like Aldi’s Rose Facial Oil, and Liz Earle’s Superskin Oil - smells lovely!

Hmm. Floral, citrus. It's from bitter orange flowers if that helps! I like nice scents (I hate jasmine though) and the decleor I bought from smell alone Blush
mrssmiling · 30/09/2021 20:37

This is lovely too. Verde products are excellent.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 30/09/2021 20:37

Ah, I am partial to a bit of citrus, that might be just the ticket.

Once a week I do a major exfoliating of my face then layer on organic coconut oil ( very slight hint of coconut smell). I leave it for day (Saturday!) and I’m a new woman - about €10 a jar which lasts ages. Also use it as a foot moisturiser- brill!

MaverickDanger · 30/09/2021 20:39

I love Elemis Superfood, but then i also love Blue Orchid!

Morgantowers · 30/09/2021 20:40

Nuxe do a lovely scented one. It’s expensive but worth it I think.

VitalsStable · 30/09/2021 20:51

The Emma Hardie one is amazing.
