Does anyone use Stitch Fix?

I've seen Rosie Ramsey advertising Stitch Fix on Instagram. Decided to take a look and i'm really interested! After having a baby last year, I've gained some weight and feel like my body has completely changed shape. I'm finding it so hard to find clothes that I like and that suit me.

Does anyone use this company? Is is as good as it seems?

I tried it and was really disappointed with both the quality and the choice. I am a grumpy bugger though.

Annoyedandirritated · 28/09/2021 13:53

Yes me! I had my first box last week! I have kept everything in it, and i love doing the daily like or don’t like on their app! I can’t wait for my next box!

Don’t know if that’s worked or not sorry Confused

BuffySummersReportingforSanity · 28/09/2021 13:56

I tried it. I was not impressed. I found the choices very "safe" indeed and the brands limited and often poor quality. They went so far as to tell me they couldn't send me any items in a style that was everywhere in shops.

I think if you're completely lost in terms of what you like and what suits you, or if you just have no interest in fashion and want someone else to do the thinking, it can be helpful.

Shayisgreat · 28/09/2021 13:58

I receive a box every 3 months. I've really liked most of the stuff I've been sent and have only sent back 4 items so far.

However, I've asked explicitly for bright clothes and they haven't been very bright - most of their items seem to be neutral colours with the odd green or red thrown in.

They only have an app for the iPhone and not android which is annoying though.

All in all, I think it's worth it!

redpandaalert · 28/09/2021 13:59

First couple were good and then the stylists seem to have worsened, didn’t seem to read any of my comments, you say no denim so they send a denim jacket. Sending me stuff at full prices from joules and boden when you can always get a large discount code from them. Also everything was polyester. Their own brand stuff looks great but didn’t last the whole summer, poor quality. Great idea but poorly executed in my opinion. Probably work better if you were the same age as the stylists 20s and I early 30s. They did not know how to dress a middle aged woman in my opinion.

WeAreTheWeirdosMister · 28/09/2021 14:02

I used it and said I'd like a witchy boho look and they sent clothes that looked like you'd use to dress a primary school teacher character on TV.

I'd say it would be good for office basics - but very expensive and most items were polyester and unknown (to me) brands.

Squashpocket · 28/09/2021 14:09

Unbelievably expensive for Primark quality clothes. I was shocked. They also wanted to dress me like a middle aged frump, which was obviously what I was trying to avoid. I'm only bloody 36 thanks. Hmmph.

dmudbur · 28/09/2021 14:13

Ah lots of negative reviews. Thought it might be too good to be true but hoped that wasn't the case!

Bumping to see if there any any other positive experiences or if I’m the only one Grin

Hungry675tf · 28/09/2021 18:11

I get a box every quarter and I've really enjoyed it. I've kept about half the stuff. I'm very explicit about what I like/dislike. They've sent me stuff from All Saints, Mint Velvet (so decent quality), which i wouldn't have picked myself but have loved. Uts helped me stretch out of my comfort zone.

Very happy with it, and look forward to getting my box. I like how you can preview the box before its sent and accept/reject items.

I'd say go for it, at worst you've spent a tenner on nothing but you might enjoy it!

SilverOtter · 28/09/2021 18:39

I really like it! I absolutely detest shopping so this is much better. So far I've sent back a few items but kept the vast majority.

moonfacebaby · 28/09/2021 18:44

Didn’t rate it. Crap quality, yet still pricey items. Kept 2 things, one of which developed a hole after the second wear.
I came to the conclusion that I styled myself much better, and really did not need a service like this

Deianira · 29/09/2021 10:33

I have been doing it since late spring - get a box roughly every 2 months (although I got my first three monthly, before I started buying the lot so they got pricier...). My first box was ok, kept 2 jumpers/tops (which I am still wearing a lot), second box was better, kept 3 things, and then my last 3 boxes I've kept all of and been really happy with. I do think they get better as they get a better idea of what your style is and the kinds of things you're likely to want. I requested a blazer for interviews in box 3 and they sent me something perfect from Whistles which fit beautifully (because by then I think they had an ok idea of what would/wouldn't fit based on what I'd sent back), and in my last box I asked for some smart tops to wear going out and again got a selection I really like, all of which fit and 2 of which I'd never have thought to pick out for myself but loved on me. I do have longer legs than the jeans/trousers they stock which is a bit of a shame, but it just means that e.g. in summer I got some really cool skirts I'd never have thought to try out, and they have spotted the length issue and focused on longer dresses for me which I really appreciated.

They have pushed me away from things I'd choose myself, and found some shapes and styles which suit me so much more than I expected before trying them on. The lack of sale prices is a shame but I love the convenience of it. I was also in such a style rut before I started this, but now I am really not - I find myself picking up extra things to go with my new clothes from them, so the styling inspiration extends beyond just the items they send me. So, for me, it's really worked!

Deianira · 29/09/2021 10:37

Oh and yes I agree with Hungry675tf that it really helps to be very explicit and give full feedback about why you don't like what you don't like, whether that's where/how things don't fit, or that you think things are frumpy/too old - my first selection based on the preview was definitely pitched to a more mature sort of style than I wanted, but I told them that, and there was a dramatic improvement for the next preview set.

HateJudgmentalPeople · 29/09/2021 10:51

I got from it once and I liked 3 things out of the 5 or 6 that I got sent, I got a beautiful dress from Ghost and it was originally £90 as obvs the tags were on but I love this dress. It’s a summer one and makes me feel classyGrin and they did listen to what I liked style wise so I think they are good.

PeonyRose80 · 29/09/2021 10:52

It is ok but poor quality, and there is no stylist it’s a computer algorithm

devildeepbluesea · 29/09/2021 10:55

Kept a few things from the first couple of boxes, but then the choices became, in short, bloody awful. Frumpy, viscose abominations at ridiculous prices.

moostermum · 29/09/2021 10:57

I have used twice so far and find it really good.
The first box I kept everything and had some nice pieces from Mint velvet and DKNY. Second box I only kept 2 items but if you keep any, you don't pay. Signed DH up too and he likes it.

Shuffleuplove · 29/09/2021 11:05

Lookiero is a similar concept but miles better.

whatswithtodaytoday · 29/09/2021 11:08

First couple of boxes were good (I didn't actually keep much but they were definitely my style). Subsequent boxes have been trash - in fact the last one has probably driven me to cancel as it's just not worth it, I can go to shops now. They sent me items in colours I specifically said I hate, and a jumpsuit when I said I never wear them!

They obviously registered my displeasure as I got an email from someone saying they'd try to find a better fit next time... and suggested I make a Pinterest board to give them a better idea! Hahahahahaha. I do their quizzes every so often as I quite enjoy them. How many working mums have time to make a Pinterest board?!

inappropriateraspberry · 29/09/2021 11:58

I tried it a couple of years ago. Had 3 boxes I think. Kept some of the stuff, but found it very expensive for the items. Also they seemed to be bringing in their own brands that you couldn't compare price wise.
I stopped as it wasn't worth it to me, and it's a lot of clothes to keep or you're paying the 'stylist fee' to send it all back!
I can do my own shopping on Amazon prime wardrobe for free! (Well the cost of prime that covers a lot more!)

SilverOtter · 01/10/2021 16:10

If anyone else wants to give it a whirl here's my up to date code (we both get £15 off I think)

yellowgingham · 01/10/2021 18:18

I've had two boxes. The first one I thought was great and kept most of it. The second was really disappointing. So I'm giving them another try and will see which way it goes next time.

I have a referral code if anyone wants it
