Does anyone use Stitch Fix?

I've seen Rosie Ramsey advertising Stitch Fix on Instagram. Decided to take a look and i'm really interested! After having a baby last year, I've gained some weight and feel like my body has completely changed shape. I'm finding it so hard to find clothes that I like and that suit me.

Does anyone use this company? Is is as good as it seems?

I get a bix every quarter, due one this month. They're a bit hit and miss. I didn't have anything from the first box, had a few items from the second box only one item from the last box, nice items but not really me. It is fun to see what gets delivered though.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 01/10/2021 18:37

Another disappointed poster here too.
Same as a previous poster who said comments were ignored.

Grandadwasthatyou · 01/10/2021 18:38

I persevered for about 6 months but gave up eventually. I really thought that the clothes were not good quality enough for the price they charged and I told them that, especially their own range ( mauvette or something like that).
I tried Lookiero but was similarly unimpressed.

ScumbagDave · 01/10/2021 18:39

I've tried it a few times. For me, the issue is that their own brands (Mauvette, Market and Spruce, Editor's Cut etc) are very hit and miss in terms of quality and style too if I'm honest. I had an Editor's Cut (or is it choice? Whatever) which I've seen advertised by a British mum type on Instagram. A leopard print, shirt dress with a tie belt? It literally fell apart and after not that much wear.

I had my most recent box last week, (only ordered because it was free), and sent it all back immediately.

I've found that every item I've kept from Stitch Fix or Lookiero over the years, has not lasted and their own brand crap is really difficult to sell on. So it's wasteful. I'm pretty minimalist with my wardrobe, so it just doesn't make sense for me. I'd far rather have a handful of great items than loads of not so great items, and I just find that I need to pick the great items for myself.

I’m a crap shopper and totally unsure of my own personal style so I’m hopeful to get some ideas from it 🤞

SilverOtter · 02/10/2021 09:18

@Annoyedandirritated I'm the same! Don't even think I have a style any more, so am hoping to develop one😅

Ghostlyfeet · 02/10/2021 09:23

I get a box monthly. I reckon I keep one or two pieces from each. I like it. Some of the stuff the quality's shit but I send that back- I've totally lost any sense of style so I'm trying to find what I like

Gah81 · 02/10/2021 09:28

I gave it a go. I have a pretty definite sense of style and gave them extremely clear parameters as to what I was looking for. They got it all wrong. I am reluctant to try them again.

ScumbagDave · 02/10/2021 10:02

I do think the process is actually quite good if you don't know what style you like. Even just ordering it helps as it asks questions I wouldn't ask myself. My style has chopped and changed a lot over the years, so I was also a bit unsure when I started and just liked everything. Now I know more what I like. I mean, they haven't actually managed to send me anything I like recently, but I then think "oh I wanted X, wish they'd sent Y". Send theirs back and then go and buy what I want (for way cheaper).

I've just done this. I asked for jeans and a backpack, they didn't send either, just a load of expensive, unflattering tops... So I've sent it back and gone and ordered jeans and a backpack!

Mankini · 02/10/2021 12:58

They aren't great - I found an ad for one of their stylists a while back - they're not actual stylists, just homeworkers on £10 an hour.

Also, it works best if you knock about 10-15 years off your age. Maybe it's beacuse it's a US company and their algorithym was built for the Midwest soccer mom, but anything aimed at 40+ year olds is unbelievably frumpy.

Goshitstricky · 02/10/2021 12:58

I've got a box monthly for 4 months now and they're all been great. I think I've kept everything apart from 2 items.

YukoandHiro · 02/10/2021 13:02

Yes - I love it. I've had it for eight months and have only sent one box back without buying anything. The best thing is that you don't have to face the shops ever. I started due to having a baby in lockdown but now think I'll just keep it on

YukoandHiro · 02/10/2021 13:04

But also I would say it's good for sourcing things not on the high st but to get those kind of unique items you need to be willing to spend a little more than high st prices and set your filters accordingly

SilverOtter · 02/10/2021 19:42

I must admit I haven't been massively impressed with their own-brand jeans. They were perfect when new, but haven't washed/worn well.

I've had a couple of lovely soft cardigans that I've worn practically non-stop.

Annoyedandirritated · 02/10/2021 20:01

@Mankini that’s fab advice thank you! I’m going to lower my age on it!

Thanks for the tip. I had some lovely jeans in my first box but a bit more expensive than I could afford at the time I've had some shirts and jumpers that I've got a lot of wear out of though
YukoandHiro · 03/10/2021 17:40

@Annoyedandirritated you don't need to lower your age, just tell your stylist you prefer a more youthful look

Durbeyfield · 03/10/2021 17:42

I’ve used it several times and it’s been great. I’ve kept an average of two items per box. There are a lot of different opinions about it but it has worked for me.

hopeishere · 03/10/2021 18:04

I've had two boxes. First two were pretty good. This one is dire. Cotton summer trousers, awful trainers and a short sleeved top were included. There's a dress and top I'll try on but pretty disappointed.

I think it's a tough gig for a stylist to always get it right but I get a box every 3 months or so. Once I got in touch with them because I felt disheartened that nothing worked for me and their customer service seemed very accommodating trying to get it right.

It has introduced me to new brands and as it happens I really like the Editor's Cut and Mauvette clothes. I have kept thius jumper today (will try to upload a photo)

DocMarteens · 04/11/2021 12:58

I've tried to screenshot it but it doesn't look as nice as when I put it on. Buyt hopefully you can see that it has a nice neckline for my scraggy neck.

I appreciate my style may not be like everyone's. I keep about 2-3 items per box but I would not have come across these clothes
