I want a warm winter dress

Do they exist, or do I need to buy trousers?

Uniqlo jumper dressers are great

daisyjgrey · 04/10/2021 12:38

@phantomgirl22

I don't like full length sleeves either. I'm short so they're always too long and end up half way up my hands. Anything I own that has full length sleeves I always roll up.

The nicest winter dress I have is from TK Maxx and it is a role neck cashmere wool dress in navy. It is so luxurious and it cost about £60. My next favourite is a black and grey dress from The White Company that I bought about 3 years ago.

I saw someone the other day in a shop wearing a winter shirt dress. It had some kind of tartan pattern on it. It fitted her perfectly and was absolutely lovely on her. Way better than I am describing.

Leodrune · 04/10/2021 13:23

Forgot to add the main point, that my TK Maxx dress was a Jaegar one.

NigellaSeed · 04/10/2021 13:24

I have two denim pinafores from Seasalt that I love!

Bettyhatesavocados,

Sorry, I can't seem to respond to the PM for some reason. It is not that one sorry.

Lovemusic33 · 07/10/2021 07:17

Jumper dresses make me look awful, I’m only 5”3 and haven’t got much of a waist or bum. I would love to find a dress that looks ok on me, I can only really wear pinafores which make me look a bit like a child 😬.

Tightwad2020 · 07/10/2021 08:42

Has anyone suggested Cos? www.cosstores.com/en_gbp/women/dresses.html

Lots of different shapes, a couple of corduroy and knitted. Some that are loose enough to take a fine knit underneath.

Etsy also worth a look.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 07/10/2021 08:46

I hate 3/5 sleeves with passion and fury, HATE hate them.

If I’m warm l want short sleeves. If I’m cold l want long sleeves. I never want something pissing about between the two. When do l wear it? I get cold wrists.

Ozanj · 07/10/2021 08:51

You need a wool dress. Jaeger (M&S), Hobbs, Joules are the only places I’ve been able to buy decent ones at a reasonable price.

sospspsp · 07/10/2021 10:05

I hate non-long sleeves on warm coating like winter dresses/jumpers/coats etc.
I mean, WTF is the point?
I can literally never be warm if it's not long-sleeved.

I run cold.

I have this, www.cosstores.com/en_gbp/women/womenswear/dresses/product.relaxed-fit-maxi-sweatshirt-dress-purple.1002877003.html it's very warm. I'm just trying to work out what footwear to wear with it. It's slight greater in real life though.

WellTidy · 07/10/2021 13:00

Please could anyone advise as to the length of the knitted jumper Uniqlo dresses please? I get frustrated when websites don’t give a nape to hem measurement on dresses. I’m only 5 foot 1 so irate really matters!

WellTidy · 07/10/2021 13:00

irate = it!

Amazon have some flannel winter shirt dresses. Am quite tempted...

Lovemusic33 · 07/10/2021 15:16

Love this www.seasaltcornwall.com/heartfelt-dress but would probably look awful on me as I’m too short.

Lovemusic33 · 07/10/2021 15:17

And this one www.hush-uk.com/cait-cord-mini-dress-velvet-red/003522-2475.html

ADreadedSunnyDay · 07/10/2021 16:03

H&M usually have sweatshirt dresses and jumper dresses with or without hoods. I love them with leggings underneath

missfliss · 07/10/2021 16:11

Bought this and LOVE it - super soft baby cord

Jasmine11 · 08/10/2021 09:18

I have a couple of corduroy dresses from Lily and Me which are perfect for autumn/winter.

Nearlyadoctor · 08/10/2021 18:39

@Lovemusic33 - how tall or short should I say 😉, are you? I bought the heartfelt dress today and I’m 5’4 - for me it’s about perfect but would have still been happy if it had been an inch or two longer.

Lovemusic33 · 08/10/2021 18:51

Im 5"3 so it might fit 😊

Nearlyadoctor · 08/10/2021 18:58

@Lovemusic33 - I’m sure it would but if you do order I would size down, I’m normally a 10 top ( 32E) and 8 is still roomy enough for a long sleeved tee under. It’s quite lightweight but still warm.

Lilmisswhite · 11/11/2021 21:19

All of these dresses are so boring. No patterns or a good cut.

It's as if they want us to look miserable through winter.
