Anyone else still buying Hush??

Nearlyadoctor · 24/09/2021 21:59

I used to be a regular on the ‘ Hush ‘ threads probably 3 plus years ago and then we moved house, ( v expensive) it became widely available in JL ( which tbh put me off for a bit) and pretty much bought nothing.
I bought a halter neck this summer, but going into the autumn decided some of my wide neck tops had seen better days, so ordered a new one. Since then I’ve ordered 3 jumpers, a skirt and a dress, so rekindled my affinity with them.
Still love my Nana jumper and Tara dress.
Names I remember from the old threads are @Ellapaella and @Laskameryls.
Anyone else still a Hushista ? Smile

Love Hush Grin Only tend to buy in sales or discounted though!

Shopgirl1 · 24/09/2021 23:33

Which skirt did you get? I’m thinking about the Cecelia Ruched Mini Skirt but I’m 6ft and wondering if it will be too short.
I’ve had mixed experiences with Hush, quality hit and miss.

windmill26 · 24/09/2021 23:41

I bought from them years ago, always on sale or from their sample sale. I like the colours and cut of the clothes but the quality is not great .

WanderingTrolley1 · 24/09/2021 23:42

No. Much of it is poor quality shite.

Mercurial123 · 25/09/2021 05:35

No I never understood the MN love for Hush the quality is rubbish.

manywildhorses · 25/09/2021 07:28

I bought a load of loungewear at the beginning of lockdown and still kick myself for not sending it back after the joggers bobbled and looked tatty after the first wash and the jumper went completely misshapen.

The T-shirt’s are ok and knitwear. I did just buy some jeans as liked the fit bit dreading washing them and hope I don’t regret it. Most of the time I avoid them now though, not impressed with the quality at all.

Nearlyadoctor · 25/09/2021 07:47

@Shopgirl1- I bought the Simone slinky skirt, which is a lovely colour and a perfect length for me 5’4.
Interesting comments re the quality, I’ve had very few items that haven’t lasted and worn really well. The first dress I ever bought from them about 7 years ago did bobble under where my seatbelt sits but apart from that everything has always been pretty good.

I still have my nana jumper and wear it every winter, I love it.

Nearlyadoctor · 25/09/2021 10:04

@ilovecherries - another name I remember from the previous threads Smile and a 👋

Used to buy loads but around A/W 2019 quality took a real nose dive. I found a jumper on eBay that was so much better than the new one I ordered in Jan it was ridiculous. Haven't ordered anything since I returned the jumper - still look though Smile

Sooverthemill · 25/09/2021 11:25

I buy occasionally still ( was also a Hushita). Not much this year, two dresses one of which I sold two months later. My keepers are the sweatshirts , the jeans and t shirts. All of which are brilliant quality and I wear on repeat. I've sold on lots of my hush stuff and I've noticed that the resell value has dropped a lot in the last year. They really went wrong in the last 18 months but hopefully have improved this season ( I have read). Instead I'm buying Wyse, pyrus, , Sézane , navy grey and Agolde direct.

Sooverthemill · 25/09/2021 11:26

I think a lot of people moved on to toast but their clothes are absurdly oversized on me (5'1 and size 8). They look gorgeous though I've sent back almost everything 2 things

Nearlyadoctor · 25/09/2021 11:30

@Sooverthemill- me too, Toast makes me look like I’m auditioning for a part in the Handmaids Tale!

👋 nearlyadoctor. I haven’t actually bought much from Hush for a couple of years now - partly as it started to feel a bit ‘samey’ but also because most things I bought lasted well and are still going strong. I know lots of people say the quality is crap but I haven’t found that to be the case, although I do baby my clothes quite a lot - not just Hush but most things. I do like Toast/Cos/Arket/other stories/Kin and at 5’7 I am just about tall enough to carry them off. I also do not have a dainty bone structure! I have Kensington dresses that have just had their 4th summer of regular use, jeans that appear indestructible and sweatshirts that just improve with age.

Nearlyadoctor · 25/09/2021 12:51

@ilovecherries - I’m much the same, wash stuff carefully etc. My wide jersey tops have been nearly indestructible, One is now slightly bobbly but I wear it a lot at home still, pleased with the new one I ordered last week as the quality seems much the same. The arabella crew neck is very like a boxier version of the Nana jumper so we’ll see how that fares.
Today I’ve got cropped jeans on from 4-5 years ago, now a bit faded but still good.
I think because it’s all worn so we’ll I haven’t bought the last few seasons, plus I’ve always preferred their winter offerings.

Used to love Hush but I haven't bought as much from there recently. I bought a few bits last week and will keep two and return two.
I wanted to love the Pippa Camo jumper as the colours are beautiful but it's soooooo thin! Feels thinner than a tee shirt so I've returned. I think I'll try and get a discounted cashmere jumper for the same price. I've also sent back the Athena tiered dress as it was a bit too short on me.
I'm keeping the Azalea shirt dress-this is lovely on. Feels great quality too. I'm also keeping the Confetti sweatshirt as I have the same in grey and bloody ruined it by ironing on top of the confetti! This feels lovely too.

Wouldn't let me post the sweatshirt pic for some reason

imstilljenny2 · 25/09/2021 12:56

@Sooverthemill I really want to order from Sezanne but the £12 delivery charge puts me off. I've also never ordered from there before so I'll probably need to return and reorder sizes which really puts me off. Some of the blouses are so beautiful though.

ilovecherries · 25/09/2021 14:30

Oh, that Arabella jumper is very nice, don’t know how I missed that! I still miss a pink Hush jumper I had in that colour, but I love the amber and black as well.

ScumbagDave · 25/09/2021 14:37

Occasionally, but I have to say that quality is a mixed bag at best. I've had one t-shirt (my absolute favourite which I wore all the time) which has completely fallen apart within a couple of years. I did wear it a lot though. Also harems which I've had to send to recycling as they developed holes pretty quickly after buying them.

On the other hand, I've got a pair of joggers from there which are wearing and washing brilliantly.

It annoys me that so many of their dresses are floaty polyester as well. I can't wear polyester as it makes me sweat too much.

Nearlyadoctor · 25/09/2021 14:38

The amber is a gorgeous colour. I’ve bought the Tilly cashmere in amber, arrived this morning.

I'm still here @Nearlyadoctor - I do still buy a bit of Hush but no so much over the last year. The threads dried up a bit as some of the regulars moved chat onto a whats app group off mumsnet (still going strong and really such a wonderful group of friends we've become).
I do remember you, happy to still talk Hush, still one of my 'go to' places for dresses and jeans.
I'll be honest I haven't even looked at the autumn collection but I am still stuck in summer and had a bit of a thing for Zara dresses this year.
Having read this I am off to check out Hush right now! I really need some new 'going out' clothes as my social life seems to have recovered after nearly 14 months of restrictions!

BrimfulofDipper · 25/09/2021 22:36

I bought a v-neck jerset longline top from Hush about a year ago. I've worn it about 3 times. After a couple of washes, it looks like an old rag. Definately overpriced for what it is. Better valuen at M&S, Tu etc.

Nearlyadoctor · 26/09/2021 07:25

@EllaPaella- lovely to hear from you, still living up North? The new autumn / winter collection is being launched on Tuesday so worth having another nosy then.

Yes bought since blue cotton joggers that are quite thick so great for winter the baby cord joggers in teal though I think overpriced look good and the jersey midi skirt that will be v useful. All seem great quality.
