Would you wear this to an autumn wedding?

I'm going to a wedding at the end of October, still got a bit of baby weight to lose so my usual go-to's are a bit snug Blush plus wedding is in the Highlands so it might be quite chilly!

What do you think of this for a wedding guest dress? I tried it on and it was very flattering, but I'm swithering about how to style it...

I like the dress. I have the same or similar model from earlier this year in brighter colours and it looks... expensive on. So well cut. I like that less slinky, more subtle shapes are in.

Haven't seen this version irl but if the colours suited you and you felt good in it, then why not? The styling suggestions sound great.

Only thing - mightn't you be very cold?

HereIfYouNeedMe · 20/09/2021 23:05

Why is it £180? Genuine question

I'm really not sure about it now! You shouldn't need to dress something up that much for that price. Is it just for the label? Or for people who have money to burn? ...or is it made out of panda?
I'll never understand it, unless it's handmade? Scrap that, made in China

BrumCahoots · 20/09/2021 23:07

Nope ... I love comfy dresses but that's way too casual and drab to wear to a wedding. £180 quid seems way overpriced too .. you could find a comfy but more weddingy dress at Hush ?

OnceMoreOnToTheBeach · 20/09/2021 23:08

I really like the Baum Und Pferdgarten one posted^^

I like the jumpsuit, but it is a very different vibe to the dress. As an aside, I don't agree that it not flattering the model necessarily means it's a no go. A petite, size 10/12 in that jumpsuit would look better than a statuesque model imo. I'm tall and I couldn't wear that, but I think op could.

ChristmasPlannier · 21/09/2021 01:41

I really like the jumpsuit! The dress is hideous.

You can definitely ceilidh dance in the jumpsuit and with some great chunky jewellery it will be dressy enough for a wedding

Nancydrawn · 21/09/2021 01:50

Love the dress. Agree re lots of thick old gold jewelry and maybe a slick of bright red lipstick. It's the sort of thing that Jemima Kirke would wear effortlessly.

LaBellina · 21/09/2021 01:53

I like it!
Dress it up for a bit with heels, jewelry, some fab lipstick and a naice bag and you’re good to go.

Myshitisreal · 21/09/2021 01:54

I'm sorry. Brutal honesty alert. It's absolutely terrible. Colours are drab, the shape is... Nothing. It's categorically unexceptional. I'm sorry. I wish you the best, I think you can do better. Sorry. 🥰

I think with these threads though, so much depends on you and your style. My friends would think I'd lost the plot if I wore a dress like that, but at the same time, I'm fairly confident my style would make you cringe and think wtf is she wearing 😁😁😘

I really like Toast in general, but that’s far from my favourite Toast dress.

If you would be able to breastfeed in it, then it must fit you substantially differently to the model - neckline must seem lower cut and with waist falling lower?

But even allowing for that, I don’t think it is very wedding-y. The colours are too drab and the pattern too informal. The style of the neckline is very casual and doesn’t lend itself to jewellery. The style generally doesn’t look like it wants to be ‘dressed up’.

LastToBePicked · 21/09/2021 01:57

Other point - October in the Highlands, you’d need a cardi of similar with that dress surely? And that’s not going to help matters.

How about this?
I love their prints. Ticks the breastfeeding box.
Not sure about the toast one, fabric looks like it could fall well. But colour isn’t great.

Really not keen on the jumpsuit. Not a good sign when something doesn’t even flatter the model.

I like this a lot though not sure if it would flatter the way you’ve described your shape?

I’m also not a fan of the jumpsuit, though may be better than the toast dress.

Justilou1 · 21/09/2021 02:00

My first thought was no, but I have been thinking of sustainability (cost, wearability, versatility, etc…) and think it’s a yes. You can really dress this up. This would be great with coral or orange accessories for a wedding.

1forAll74 · 21/09/2021 03:05

That is such an awful dress, and the price ridiculous.

How about this fab Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress?

twelvefiftynine · 21/09/2021 03:53

It's really really incredibly ugly. Those colours are just awful. Baggy dresses are so in atm that a loose dress minus the ugly should be easy to get. I would probably go maternity wear though as it will be easy to find a breast feeding dress that is loose where needed as they're made that way.

HarebrightCedarmoon · 21/09/2021 04:15

I love the jumpsuit, but knowing how my pelvic floor was post-partum I wouldn't want to be fighting to get out of a jumpsuit when I go to the toilet.

There are lots of polka dot wrap dresses around which might be easier than the jump suit.

Goneblank38 · 21/09/2021 04:38

Another vote for the Baum und pferdgarten dress! It's really lovely.

I don't mind the first dress but think it's perhaps too casual. Not a fan of the jumpsuit though. It looks really unflattering on the model.

Mindyourbusiness22 · 21/09/2021 05:26

Nope, looks like a casual dress

CeeceeBloomingdale · 21/09/2021 05:51

I love a sack dress but even I am struggling with that one due to the colours. I'm a short, curvy apple, they suit me well. You describe yourself as hour glass so I guarantee there is a more flattering dress out there for you. Have a look online in the H&M sale, there are quite a few possibilities there with front fastenings. Strangely not so much in the new arrivals section.

Cruachan · 21/09/2021 07:07

OP, if you are an hourglass there is no way on earth you should wear that dress. I am an hourglass and have always veered away from Toast because they seem to specialise in baggy saggy things, despite people on here often saying 'oh, but they really don't'. That dress just confirms it. And if you're really pale I can't see the colours working either.

OnceMoreOnToTheBeach · 21/09/2021 07:19

I'm with you and a few people have agreed with op on the not buying a wedding guest specific dress. I never do this. My own wedding dress was second hand from eBay! But you don't have to go down the drab route to get lots of wear out of a dress you also wear to a wedding! This isn't the only dress out there which ticks the "you can wear it again" box.
Ikeameatballs · 21/09/2021 07:20

I really don’t like the dress for a wedding but I hate the jumpsuit too! And they really don’t seem like items that the same person would consider for a wedding?

brokenbiscuitsx · 21/09/2021 07:57

I don’t hate it. I think it’s more for going to the opening of an art gallery or something than a wedding ifyswim 😊

cricketmum84 · 21/09/2021 08:01

The colour is a bit "meh" for a wedding I think but I do like it as an everyday dress. Maybe if you paired with bright orange accessories it would brighten it up a bit?
