I can't find a new crossbody bag I like

So I have had a fake (sorry!) mulberry Antony bag for the last decade and I have loved it for its capacity, soft strap, soft body and durability.

Now I need a new bag but I really can't find anything I like and obviously I can't afford a grand or whatever it is to get a new real Antony, plus I feel like I should get something different.

Maybe I have to accept that I will just have to carry less in it because most options seem quite small, rigid and heavy...

I don't like brands like Radley or Fossil or Coach, and I think leather would be best.

Hit me with your suggestions!!

I've seen some similar to the aspinal one for like £50 or something and now I'm wondering if I can justify it! But I'll not regret buying better quality will I?

I also really love the APC one but I wish they did a brighter colour. I have had tan so far but just fancy something a bit jazzy...

I think Aspinal will last you a long time. Really nice leather. Cheaper ones won't wear as well.

I have several de Mellier bags, including crossbody, and love them.

@stclair I have to stop looking at new handbag brands because I just want ALL OF THE BAGS! 😂

So I've been looking at the APC Demi lune and have really fallen for it and was about to buy one but then im seeing reviews saying the zip is really scratchy when you put your hand in the bag 😩 and the leather scratches easily.

Anyone got one??

The leather on the half moon bag does scratch easily. I’d just make my peace with that tbh if you love the bag as otherwise it just takes the joy out of it and you’ll always be worrying. But it is something to consider.

You could look for a different bag in saffiano leather, which is much more scratch resistant.

I like marc jacobs softshot/motoshot 21. Two compartment, soft and bigger than most

My favourite bag at the moment is my Rebecca Minkoff MAC. The chain strap was beginning to bother me so I switched it out for a colourful fabric one I bought from another store and it's perfect now.

Really soft leather, I have the mini Mac and the standard Mac, both decent sizes but I'm using the standard one for the time being. I've had it about 10 years or so now and it was second hand when I got it too

Absolutely loving finding out about all these bag designers I've never heard of! There's some great bags out there and many of them not too expensive.

I think I am just very fussy because I don't like too much metal or too much branding on a bag which is turning me off the Marc jacobs and the Rebecca minkoff ones... I know the aspinal has a big A on it and I'm not that keen on that either but at least it's not metallic 🧐

I think that's why I like the APC ones, although the Demi lune is definitely the most stand out style but I don't want to cut my paw every time I try to get something out of it!!

I'm not really into designer bags, but have you had a look at Pom Pom London? You get a choice of straps plus each bag comes with a thin leather strap too. I'm really pleased with mine and it holds tonnes - two outer pockets and an inner one too so plenty of room for all your bits.

I have the coolest Marni cross body bag in crochet (from their Market collection) and it's so light and wearable, but I need a second cross body and can't face going back to heavy leather now, since I walk/cycle everywhere.

You could have a look at Aurora London too. Although I don’t know what styles they’ve got atm. Good quality (or so I’ve been told anyway - I don’t have anything from them) without the hefty price tag. Where else...hmmm...there might be something at Reiss, Jigsaw or Mint Velvet. M&S often has leather bags vaguely reminiscent of the Anthony.

I had an Aurora bag, lovely quality. Got the style like the Gucci Soho (think it's called the Gigi?) Gave it to my daughter when I bought the Gucci but they are really good quality.

Oh yes Aurora London is a good shout. I have a Gigi bag in red, lovely bag.
