Am I too late for the white trainer trend?

Thinking of buying some for the winter...live in flip flops during the summer and want something easy to slip on my feet. Tend to live in Hush joggers for working from home so casual, pop out to the gym/shops etc in the daytime. Don't want to pay a fortune, say £50 - £70 - which ones are on trend? (I'm 51 by the way, if that's relevant! I'd ask my daughter but hers are all branded platform type stuff!)

You can't go wrong with Stan Smith. They have been around for decades, they're not going anywhere anytime soon, and they are super easy to maintain white.
Otherwise, Reebok Classic. Same vibe.

Not that your age is massively relevant, but since you're above 21yo, I'd keep clear of Nike Air force age.

Depending on your style, you can go for Air Max but they're generally expensive. And they're demanding in terms of style, because they're quite chunky.
So yeah, again, you can't go wrong with Stan Smith / Reebok Classic.

Thanks....yes I definitely don't want chunky. That's the style my 18yo wears!

I am 49 plus a bit, and I wear white trainers with jeans, and summer dresses.

Mine are Superga leather EFGLUs. I got them in a Stitchfix Box and absolutely love them. It's great that they do half sizes too.

I’d say Air Force 1 - if you’re a smaller size you can buy the kids ones for £55.

Charlottemh · 15/09/2021 15:36

I find Supergas really comfy. I also do love my Vejas, although they are everywhere now and above your price range.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 15/09/2021 15:44

I'm not sure, I get a lot of wear out of mine (Adidas Superstars) but not through Winter. I find them cold and not suitable for very wet days as they'd get dirty. I get more wear out of them in Spring and Autumn. I'm 47 and I certainly don't feel too old for them.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 15/09/2021 15:47

Have actually found some junior Stan Smiths at an absolute bargain sale price of £30 - thanks all for the replies though. Thinking they will be a converse replacement for dry days, I have chelsea boots for if it's wet and much colder.

I’m 58 and wearing all-white Stan Smiths right now. They go up to a size 5 in juniors which makes them under your budget if you’ve got small-ish feet.

AuntieMarys · 15/09/2021 15:53

I will be wearing mine till I die

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 15/09/2021 15:58

I got these ones - so chuffed with the bargain! (Only available in size 5)

I've been eyeing these ones up. And also a bargain! If you have smallish feet

Stan Smith Trainers

HasaDigaEebowai · 15/09/2021 23:06

I’ve lived in supergas for the past three years. But then I’ve just been told on another thread that I’m old (and thick) so what do I know..

MyrealnameisBernard · 15/09/2021 23:36

With Stans would you say size up or are they pretty true? With my Pumas I go up a size and with my running shoes up a size and a half

Snoopsnoggysnog · 16/09/2021 02:12

I’m early 40s and I live in my supergas and my Air Force 1s!
Would love to know which ones are actually on trend though Grin

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 16/09/2021 07:09

@BippityBoppity87 ooh I love those! Would get them if I hadn't already ordered some.

I've been through all the trendy brands and you can't beer Stan smith for comfort and durability. Superga didn't wear well for me and I found Veja stiff and uncomfortable.

sandgrown · 16/09/2021 07:29

Do any of the trainers mentioned fit wide feet please

Namaste6 · 16/09/2021 07:34

Never too late for white trainers!!

Gufo · 16/09/2021 07:35

I have wide feet and rate superga

icelollycraving · 16/09/2021 07:43

I have wide feet and find supergas comfortable.

I have wide feet and own a pair of superga. They seem to fit well and are fairly comfortable

These are the ones I have

MardyintheBoudoir · 16/09/2021 09:11

Following for ideas… I’m a size 7.5, prefer a less chunky trainer so I don’t look like I have massive feet!

I have these but find them incredibly uncomfortable and have not got past the blister on my heel with every wear stage no matter how often I put myself through it.

blibblibs · 16/09/2021 09:23

Superga are good for wide feet and you can get them much cheaper than £70. I never pay more than about £30, which is why I have 5 pairs atm

Divebar2021 · 16/09/2021 11:00

I don’t think I’d be buying white trainers at this point in the season. Id buy A N Other colour that go with your autumn / winter clothes. I’d rather wait for the New Year and see whether white trainers come back strong. ( I think they will)
