Am I too late for the white trainer trend?

Thinking of buying some for the winter...live in flip flops during the summer and want something easy to slip on my feet. Tend to live in Hush joggers for working from home so casual, pop out to the gym/shops etc in the daytime. Don't want to pay a fortune, say £50 - £70 - which ones are on trend? (I'm 51 by the way, if that's relevant! I'd ask my daughter but hers are all branded platform type stuff!)

I'm 52 and live in my white Air Force Ones. Comfiest shoes I've ever owned.

As for trendiness, I did a non scientific survey when I was in London for a week's holiday a couple of weeks ago (sunny throughout) and noticed that about 75% of all people, whatever their age, were wearing trainers; the majority of which were white or mostly white. The most common type of trainer was AF1!

I only bought mine because I saw cheap nearly new ones on eBay. Id not heard of them before that.

However as it's getting into winter I wouldn't buy white ones at the moment.

Enjoy your Stans. I just got a pair to celebrate getting a new job and they are SOOOOO comfy! Thrilled with them 🎉

I have wide feet and my supergas are like walking on a cloud. I have three pairs now!

idontlikealdi · 16/09/2021 17:00

I'm not giving up my air Max's anytime soon

TonyThreePies · 16/09/2021 17:24

I have these but find them incredibly uncomfortable and have not got past the blister on my heel with every wear stage no matter how often I put myself through it.

I'm like these with my Converse. I lived in them as a teen and never found it a problem then.

DavesBigGusset · 17/09/2021 18:56

Glad you've bought some bright whites... I think we will have some sunny autumn days you can make use of them.
I have wide feet and live in AF1s. I'm 40 and loads of people my age are wearing them.

organicapricot · 17/09/2021 21:06

Love my Superga trainers. If it's dry I'll be wearing them.

Rollerbird · 17/09/2021 21:15

Are rocket dogs good for wide feet?

RogueV · 17/09/2021 21:16

Nike AF1 😎

White trainers are a wardrobe staple through spring/summer and into autumn but definitely not for winter! I have some lush Veja ones which I've lived in this summer and are much comfier than my old Adidas ones. I'd secretly like a pair of Nike Air Force 1s but my 16 year old DD would cringe - they're definitely her look not mine!

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 17/09/2021 22:04

But I wore converse in the winter, what's the difference?!

I've only just got a pair too Blush so I hope they're still acceptable. Late to the party as usual! But in my defence I only wear 'barefoot' style shoes now and they're expensive new so I have to take what I can find.

Sarcobaleno · 17/09/2021 22:10

46 and can't see past my Adidas superstars. Just a little bit more chunky than Stan smiths and much comfier

SingingGoldfinch · 17/09/2021 23:38

Maybe I was hasty to say white trainers aren't for winter. I suppose I might still wear them as the weather turns but i prefer my DMs once it gets cold and damp. White trainers and wet, muddy weather don't mix well and I don't like my ankles getting cold!

louisethedisease · 18/09/2021 17:43

I'm looking to get new trainers as my feet have randomly grown a size so now I'm an 8. Age 35. What colours would you recommend for winter that's not white? I love Air Force but don't own a pair. Was wondering if they were too young for me.

LightOfAThousandStars · 18/09/2021 20:18

You can get Stan Smith and Air Force 1s in the black colour instead of white as well

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 19/09/2021 17:26

First outing in them. Love them already
