I have [[https://www.marksandspencer.com/high-waist-wide-leg-trousers/p/clp60274484?color=BLACK#intid=prodColourId-60274484 these M&S ones]] in standard and short so I can wear with heels or wit flats. I am 5ft5.

The quality of the material for the price is amazing. The weight of them makes them hang beautifully and people usually ask if I have lost weight when I wear them, which makes them a huge winner in my book.

If you are between sizes I would size up.

MindBodyChocolate · 15/09/2021 18:59

I’d also recommend m&s - the Mia trousers. They’re a slimmer cut and really easy to wear but look good too. Loads of colours.

Oblomov21 · 15/09/2021 19:08

I can't get the link to work on the M&S trousers. Which ones are they please?

CheddarandChutney · 15/09/2021 19:19

Boden Richmonds, they're stretchy cotton and flattering. The only downside is they do fade a bit.

MrsColon · 15/09/2021 19:22

It really depends on your shape - do you have wide or narrow hips? A tummy bulge? Wide or narrow thighs?

I have a flattish tummy and small waist but giant thighs, so I prefer wide leg trousers that are high-waisted.

cuppycakey · 15/09/2021 21:07

I like the Mia trousers but they are a bit thin and shiny...

Geamhradh · 15/09/2021 21:09

I have 4 pair of the M&S wide legged trousers and they are the fucking bollocks! And I'm 5ft 10!

Another HG is Boden Hampshires. I've got some Richmonds but I find them more summery and they bag round the knee if you sit for too long. Hampshires are ponte fabric so stretch more.

I only wear trousers for work and those are my big 3.

cuppycakey · 15/09/2021 21:13

Yeah seriously it's like paying £40 for a £100 pair of trousers.

When I had £££ I used to wear Max Mara to work and these are better quality than that.

GezFox · 16/09/2021 06:38

Thanks so much ! I am 5ft 4 and usually a 10 or 12 depending on brand. so normally would stay away from wide leg and usually go for something tapered / slightly cropped so I can wear flats as I need to commute by train / tube and swap due at heel in the office .

I recently got the Boden Bridport trousers in their sale and they are lovely. Really flattering and the regular length works with flats for me which is key as I don't really do heels for work any more. Not sure if they would have many sizes left now but worth looking out for!

catfunk · 16/09/2021 07:27

Uniqlo ezy care ankle trousers are exactly what you're describing (they may have changed the name slightly)

Gufo · 16/09/2021 07:29

Boden Bridport and M&S Mia

GezFox · 16/09/2021 18:34

Thanks ladies !

I wear M&S Mia or Boden Richmond, they are my daily go to trousers.

Bertiebiscuit · 30/09/2021 18:17

Like most of what women want to wear for everyday your requirements are modest - I think manufacturers and shops mostly serve women poorly - we need to toughen up and refuse to buy badly made uncomfortable clothes in horrible cheap man made fibres, and let shops know how bad their stuff is, not only not buy it but complain - I find 90 %of what is on the high street is nasty, cheap looking it not actually cheap, bad fabric, badly made, poorly designed, unimaginative design and colours, I often just go home and appreciate what I already have, mostly bought in charity shops.
The only exception seems to me to be Uniqlo knitwear which is high quality, classic styles and nice variety of colours in merino and linen, and the sizing and fit are usually good -, next, h and M seem to me to be the worst

myadhdusername · 30/09/2021 19:42

I wear an M&S pair with an elastic waist and a line down front. Not sure what the name of them is but they’re great.

Next usually do a good pair of flared (boot cut trousers).

I love these too, so flattering and comfortable!
brusselsprout5 · 01/10/2021 06:54

I'm a size 10-12, 5'2 shortie with a bit of mum tum. I discovered the M&S Mia in the sale & now have 3 pairs. They have a bit of stretch & I bought the 7/8 ones too. Best trousers I've bought in ages & I usually do Boden or Next for petite work stuff.

bellocchild · 01/10/2021 10:39

@Bertiebiscuit
That's ok if you can wear wool, and like linen! I am allergic to one and don't like the other...good manmade fibres or cotton mixes can be just as acceptable, as long as the seams are not itchy.

GezFox · 03/10/2021 16:42

Update : the Mia ones are great! Thanks for the advice everyone x
