How many is too many lipsticks??

I am trying to do a ‘no buy’ on cosmetics until I’ve used up a lot of my stash. I did a bit of a stock take of lipsticks and counted 27. I threw away 2 as they smelled a bit iffy, so I have 25. I am sure there is another Mac pink one somewhere so maybe 26.
They range in price from Lancôme to primark, but I’ve realised I’m buying almost identical colours again and again! So time to be ruthless, test them one by one and throw them away.
So How many lipsticks is a usual amount to own?

I think I have about 40. Blush Tooooo many for sure but I enjoy having them even though MANY go unused for literally months.

I am not a posting k person, but I have 24. I know this as I did an audit a year or so ago and counted them. I am not including tubes of lipgloss or lip crayons and definitely not lip liners in that! The thing is, I only use about five.

Lipstick is my thing. I wear it everyday.
I always wear a different one each day. You can't have enough lipstick 💄

I think I have a bit of a problem buying the same colours over and over… I have 9 virtually identical ‘wine’ type colours!

How many is too many lipsticks??

I've got 10 or 12 and I thought that was enough lol.
But I'm also doing a no buy I have to whittle things down .

I dare not count how many I have, and they're all a similar shade of red with some pinks in there for good measure.

The worst of it is I've hardly been wearing lipstick since the first lockdown. I've been getting into tinted lip balms instead and I have too many of them too.

I once remember my line manager at work clearing out her handbag in front of me and she retrieved 27 lipsticks & glosses from her bag!!! She must have had hundreds at home. So I don't think you have too many!

Too many is when you aren't using them up before they go bad.

They smelled bad kind of unpleasant…a bit like a wax crayon kind of smell.

I like your thinking!! I’ve just been trying my ‘wine’ ones out, which is my biggest ‘category’, and there are subtle (very subtle) differences, so maybe it’s not that bad! My colour counts are: brown / nudes - 4 Pinks - 5 Bright pink - 3 Bright red - 4 Wines - 9

Actually about 8 out of the 10 havent been worn since 2019 - how long to lipsticks last again??? Confused

Autumn is almost upon us, also known as wine lipstick season. (I'd join in if I could pull it off)

I did get a very very brown liquid lipstick from Fenty that I could try, haven't worn it yet as it scares me Grin

I have 1 nude lipstick.
My eyes are a better feature than my mouth so I focus on them.

Of course you can have too many… it’s pretty gross to keep buying them if you already have similar shades at home. My mum has probably over 100. I tend to wear only red shades and neutral / pink shades and I could probably cope with 5 shades happily.( probably Bobbi Brown by choice) Problem is I keep leaving them in pockets and bags and they’re an easy “ pick me up” type purchase. I did have a clear out a year ago or so and melted some odds and ends of lipsticks into a palette which enabled me to bin a load - that was satisfying.

What’s your colouring @NigellaSeed ? Although regardless of whether of it’s your colour palate or not I think you should definitely try it! obviously I am a fan of dark lipstick Grin , and as you say Autumn is most definitely ‘wine lipstick’ season !
