Hello wise S&B people... would be really grateful for some help!

I've got a lunch to go to next week and the dress code is "business attire/lounge suit".

Any ideas for WTH I can wear?! Im 5'5", size 10-12 and I don't know where to start!

I'd wear female smart office wear, so a suit or tailored dress.

eurochick · 10/09/2021 15:23

An office-suitable dress like a shift dress.

YouDoYouBoo · 10/09/2021 17:07

Yes, I'd also go with a tailored dress.

FromEnglandWithLove · 10/09/2021 22:42

I have just been to an event with the dress code lounge suit. The men wore suits and tie, and most of the women wore dresses. Not many women were in office wear as this was a garden party event, rather most had smart, upmarket dresses. Knee length or below, covered shoulders, no clevage on show

bodgersmash · 10/09/2021 22:43

Thank you, will get on the hunt!

@FromEnglandWithLove I'm worried about being cold! What were the women wearing on their arms please?

Smart dress or elegant skirt and blouse combo.

BigPyjamas · 10/09/2021 22:45

Is it a business lunch?

I'd wear a dress with sleeves, or a dress with jacket (this is a bit harder to get right, not too businessy, not too mother of the bride. I'd maybe wear a jacket in a more casual fabric such as the whistles knitted jackets they used to do)

Dress with some sleeves would solve the problem

FromEnglandWithLove · 10/09/2021 22:47

This was one of the freakishly warm days so nobody was cold, my dress had long sleeves, others had jackets or blazers. If you look at places like Hobbs or Phase Eight you'll see some options

bodgersmash · 10/09/2021 23:03

Would any of these be ok?

No, it's a charity lunch.

Yes, that kind of thing.

I think option 1 looks good. Add some not too summery accessories and you'd be good to go.

Option 2 is a bit weird, kind of old-fashioned corporate but with slightly trashy looking zip. Don't quite understand what it's trying to do.

Option 3 is beautiful, you'd stand out in that (in a good way, it isn't a blend into the background dress) At a sat down lunch wearing a beautiful top half is very sensible Smile

Boood · 11/09/2021 11:40

1 and 3 are nice and would work. 2 is awful, sorry. Really cheap and nasty looking.

waltzingparrot · 11/09/2021 16:01

No 1 is a good choice

Gingembre · 11/09/2021 16:42

1 and 3 but only 3 if you don't have a lot of cleavage, because otherwise it'll give quite a show. Ok in some settings but possibly not for a charity lunch.

bodgersmash · 17/09/2021 07:45

Well it's the day and I've still not got an outfit!

Could I canvas opinions on 1,2 or 3 please?!

I like 2 (smart and comfortable - what shoes?) I also like the dog.

MarisPiper92 · 17/09/2021 07:48

I'd go 1. 2 is ok too, but I think 3 is too casual. And I love your dog.

Annoyedandirritated · 17/09/2021 07:50

1!! All look fab though

RavenT · 17/09/2021 07:51

I love your dog too. Grin

KittenKong · 17/09/2021 07:52

I’m not sure about the colour (although I love green) and if it’s a sit down lunch then a nice ‘top half’ will look a bit more fancy.

Trumpton · 17/09/2021 07:52

Go with the dress. It’s lovely .

Mn753 · 17/09/2021 07:53

1

gogohm · 17/09/2021 07:54

2 is best, with a jacket or smart cardi for warmth if needed

Foofbrush · 17/09/2021 07:57

Had the dog got bored of the fashion show by pic 3 GrinGrin?

(I like option 2)

pourmeanotherglass · 17/09/2021 07:58

1 or 2
