Any beauty experts that can comment on Aldi Lacura range?

I have lots of the Lacura beauty products from Aldi and many of them appear to be copy cat versions of branded items.

Are there any beauty gurus on here that may have compared ingredient lists or perhaps been fortunate enough to have tried and tested both branded versions against the Aldi version?

Would love to hear what you think?

Thanks for all the links and online info, off to treat myself to a few things mentioned on here that I don't already have.

Do any of the moisturisers have Spf in them by any chance?

Window1 · 08/09/2021 17:10

I can vouch for the hair mask also in the light pink tub at around £5.

The things on my list are the moisture boost, caviar cream and the cleansing balm.

@Seaoftroubles

Do any of the moisturisers have Spf in them by any chance?
Yes I think the caviar one does.

I use a revitalise one in a red tub which I think is a copy of L'Oréal and it has SPF 15 I believe. It's quite a thick one.

Any views on Lacura Rose Quartz Face Roller?

I bought the dupes of the Glow Recipe a few months ago. The overnight eye cream irritated my eyes, but lots of products do TBF. I love the pineapple serum and the watermelon gel moisturiser. I just wish, in the name of all that is holy they’d have them as regulars. I do t see what the point is in a limited edition skincare range as people tend to stick to what they know/like.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 08/09/2021 17:22

The rose thing in the purple tub is probably supposed to be a ‘dupe’ of Sisley’s Black Rose moisturiser (£150 for 50ml).

Just FYI, ingredient lists are fine but just because X product has the same (or near as damnit) ingredient list as Y product, does not mean that they will look, feel or perform the same. The formulation matters too and price isn’t always an indicator of performance or quality. The Beauty Brains podcast by two cosmetic chemists is really useful for this stuff, debunking all the pseudoscience bollocks around skincare, haircare & beauty.

Completely agree @ChrissyPlummer.
I’d like to see a bigger range of items always available online instead of having to search in store and delve through battered packages for intact ones…more hygienic too.

ChrissyPlummer · 08/09/2021 19:04

Exactly @mrssmiling! I hate when they have a “when it’s gone, it’s gone” attitude. I can kind of understand with food as lots of brands do limited edition stuff to try them out on the public.

It’s so irritating though when it’s something I’d buy regularly and don’t want to keep switching brands/products. Revolution are buggers for this lately too; I use their cleansing oil and pineapple toner, neither have been available online for weeks, I’ve checked the Superdrug’s near me and they don’t stock those particular products either.

Mind you, I have form for this; anything I like gets discontinued Grin

Kdubs1981 · 08/09/2021 20:50

Love the ebony rose moisturiser! Need some more!

Seaoftroubles · 08/09/2021 20:52

@Window1 thanks so much, that's great.

PolarSmile · 08/09/2021 21:35

I tried it and didn't like it. I do like the Superdrug dupes though, like the hot cloth cleanser.

Laiste · 09/09/2021 09:06

I've been reading this thinking 'so, how does everyone know which is a dupe for what?', but when i clicked your last link OP i can see it's easy!

Gosh that is so obviously a copy of the L'Oreal one - the one that i use!

... I'm off to Aldi today to have a poke about thanks to this thread Grin

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 09/09/2021 09:22

I don't think I have ever been disappointed by an Aldi dupe. I particularly like the hot cloth cleansers, the rose oil and the pixie glow dupe.

FreshFaceTime · 09/09/2021 12:51

I used the L'Oréal dupe for years and years but they either changed something or I got a dodgy batch or something because I couldn't stand the smell of the last one I bought. It's the only time I've ever thrown a moisturiser straight in the bin. I probably should have used it on my feet or something but I didn't think of that at the time. I've loved most of the Lacura skincare I've tried. If they bring out a dupe of Clarins double serum I'll be sooooo happy! I like to buy cheap Aldi skincare wherever possible so I can justify splurging on expensive makeup, although I do like their Urban Decay eye palette dupes too!

Window1 · 16/09/2021 09:41

Just checking in to say that I'm glad I bought two of the moisture surge items, if feels lovely and hydrating to apply and leaves my face feeling soft and smooth. You can also apply a thick layer and leave on for 5 or so minutes as a mask. May do that this weekend. Anyway, highly recommended.

Also have the cleansing balm but haven't used that yet.

I also love all of my mine
I bought and have used the Vit C hot cloth cleanser , the rose oil and the Caviar day and night cream
Bought the illuminating primer too but not tried that , will do when I put some make up on if I ever get to go out anywhere

eew1988 · 16/09/2021 16:02

Aldi have beauty products being added online on Sunday and instore the Sunday after :)

EL8888 · 16/09/2021 16:38

@ihavespoken great tip! Thanks for that

Deathraystare · 18/09/2021 07:49

@idontlikealdi Which product were you allergic to? It would be very strange if you were allergic to the whole range!

Not really. I for instance, am allergic to all the Weleda stuff. Very allergic.

UthredofBattenberg · 18/09/2021 08:36

I can vouch for their pink clay mask (sand and sky dupe) and their miracle cream (E. Arden dupe) brilliant stuff.

Oh and they recently did a dupe of the Nuface for 24.99, which I've been using and really like. Cant comment on how it compares to and actual nuface, but cant complain for £100 cheaper!

I'm going to check the links out.

Oh

UthredofBattenberg · 18/09/2021 08:40

Also I think Aldi really ought to do a beauty advent calendar.

I'd love to try all their dupes, and you'd probably get 24 full size products for about £60 Grin

mrssmiling · 18/09/2021 11:52

There does seem to be a bigger range available online at the moment - some things are ‘Check in Store’ but Rose Oil, Miracle Oil and Cream, the hair mask, Benefit dupes, Moisture Boost, and primers are all available online. Hope this is a sign that the online offering is expanding, and maybe some things will be more regularly available! I 🤞

Another fan of the liz Earle cleanse and polish Aldi hot cloth cleanser dupe.

Ive had both. I do slightly prefer the liz Earle fragrance and texture slightly over also but not enough to splash the cash on it!

I use it as intended - and also as hand cream, face pack and face pack for my dry scalp and hair. It doesn’t discolour my highlights. It’s a great product.
