For autumn/winter what would they be?

I'm 44, size 12/14, pretty clueless, and on a budget! My last pair of darkish skinnies are looking tired. This is for every day/pub drinks type wear.

Another vote for M&S Sienna

I live in Hush Agnes Boyfriend jeans now. You can't wear with boots as I roll up but they are flattering and look good with trainers etc

I love Levi's 501 cropped. I bought a darker blue pair in John Lewis and they look lovely. I have noticed the denim quality seems variable with different colour though, I bought a black pair and the fabric feels much thinner

I’ve noticed this with jeans too- the denim quality is getting thin. As if manufacturers are trying to cut costs. Anyone found a thicker denim for not huge amount money?

Yes - H&M! I have 2 pairs of Vintage Slim which are brilliant, and quite thick. I'd get those in a third colour.

I got a great pair of jeans in Matalan last week. Falmer makes them for Matalan, and the style I got is called Jolie, which are just a little more generously cut than skinny. They have just the right amount of stretch and only cost £18. They’re SO comfortable and true to size.

I'm a size 12. I found a pair of Urban Outfitters BDG jeans (unsure what style) in Cancer Research for £3 I am so happy charity shops are able to open their changing rooms again.

Are these a thicker denim?

I like Dorothy Perkins Eden style skinny jeans. They're about £13-£20ish at the moment as they're on sale. They do crop/short/petit/regular in both jean and jegging, hence price variation. I've just ordered more myself.

Definitely not skinnies - look old fashioned - I've bought a pair of quite pale loose straight legs, the kind they call "boyfriend" jeans which I love, flattering and comfortable, and unlike skinnies, don't make me look like max Wall (look him up)

M&S boyfriend for me but also like my Sainsbury's slim leg from a couple of years ago.
Was so glad to ditch uncomfortable skinnies (I have a wobbly belly but slim legs) for something less constricting.

New look Hallie. I have all colours and styles in a couple of sizes and would happily wear them forever.

A little roomy if anything. In that style anyway.

I second the H and M slim vintage straight leg. High waist but not ultra high. For me a more flattering fit than mom jeans as I'm slimmer in the leg than waist. Denim also fairly thick with slight stretch. Had mine 12 months and they're like new 👍🏼

I'm currently wearing Next mid rise Slim jeans.
