Classy but understated bag brands?

Just this- don't want to have a flashy bag like a Mulberry for which I'll be judged, but would instead love a high quality bag brand without the show-offy 'look at how much money I've spent' logo. It's just not me. Any suggestions?

Elvis and Kresse bags I love. They are made out of recycled fire hoses and a percentage of their profits goes to a firefighter's charity. I have had one for ages now and it still looks like new. If you aren't afraid of it looking a bit different then go for it. I have had people ask me where I got mine from and they have looked to buy.

Pre Covid you could book visits to their workshop to see them being made.

Same with mine
The logo is very subtle, no giant C

The Bridge. Lovely classic bags which are very high quality

I have the black bag in your photo. Love it. Great everyday handbag. Coach have some garish colourways and designs on their website but their understated stuff is lovely, imo. Really good quality (and great prices in the sale).

Lancel.

Campomaggi - Italian , beautifully made, the bag equivalent of an edgy biker jacket.

mamaca · 04/09/2021 22:22

Furla - understated, and not as common as some other brands

Theonlyoneiknow · 04/09/2021 22:25

Another vote for MimiBerry

If you're looking for something in a similar price range to Mulberry then Smythson is worth a look.
They are not great quality.
WhatsTheEffingPoint · 04/09/2021 22:46

Radley.
There's a few shops in the outlet places that make them even better priced.

PegasusReturns · 04/09/2021 22:53

Mulberry is very much more understand than coach Confused

Chiming in on the Mimi Berry front - her bags are beautiful, and beautifully made.

Coach.

Ferragamo. Very elegant. Not the best for everyday use though.
Tory Burch. Cheaper, fun looking. I have one as a chuck it on in the summer to zazz up an outfit, and don't get precious over it as a day to day bag because it's not over costly.
For quality and endurance, I'd go Chanel. Either with the CC (you know the logo I mean, I can't type it) embossed or done with stitching, so it's not so obviously a Chanel.
Fendi hasn't got much to offer this year, nor Dior, Gucci, Prada. Valentino has a couple of nicer looking bags than usual.

Chloe, I think can look quite nice. More of a young audience. I ended up selling one I had, something like a Tess in the large, because the strap was so wide it fell off my shoulder continually. It was a good, durable quality for day to day though.

All depends on your budget. Louis Vuitton has some lovely pieces that aren't all monograms and whacking great LV clasps. Celine and Bottega Venetta are the treasured possessions of every hairdresser in Essex. The bags are so distinctive it's like "faux class" because whilst it hasn't got Celine in inch high letters, it may as well have they've become so common now as "look what I can afford" generic bags.

Furla has always been a favourite and when I’m bored with one they fetch excellent prices on eBay. Also Aspinal.

I'm not personally a fan of coach either! Prefer the designs in general of mulberry but the logo/brand is so well known that there is no way I would call it understated anymore sadly. If somebody wants to pay for the logo (and I agree mulberry does have a small logo, it just that it's SO famous for being v expensive) then that's fine- that's just not why I want to wear a bag though. I would like a bag because it is high quality and beautiful, that makes me happy- not one that just shouts to other people about how much money I have (or at least have spent on a bag!)

Anyone know if any of the aforementioned brands should be avoided for human welfare reasons at all?

I'm sure you're capable of googling which brands are most ethical.

DaphneDeloresMoorhead · 05/09/2021 03:36

I've had lots of positive comments on my Kate Spade bag which I love

SquarePeggyLeggy · 05/09/2021 03:44

YSL. Some have big logos, but some just have the logo, tint, on your body side. They’re gorgeous quality and I use mine every single day, so the cost per use works out to be pretty great!

Well excuse me for asking for advice. With a cluster feeding baby I thought asking a knowledgeable forum would be easier than researching all the suggested brands myself (with one arm!). I wasn't asking anyone else to do it for me- just asked on the offchance that anyone happened to know about any of the brands.

Ah I'm glad not all of the Coach bags have the giant C!
OP check out Padfield - made in the UK, really beautiful and very understated.
