Tights - is it too early for black opaques?

I’m off to London this weekend to meet up with some friends I haven’t seen in a very long time. Wondering what to wear - I quite fancy wearing a dress but is it too early in the season for black opaques? Think I’ll freeze if I go bare legged 🥶 and I’m not massively keen on nude tights.

It’s too early for me as I don’t feel I need that much warmth yet. It sounds as if you’ve thought it through, do what keeps you comfortable!

ElaineMarieBenes · 01/09/2021 22:17

It’s freezing in London today - saw a few youngsters with summer dresses and black opaques around and about (well Camden/Regents Canal) very sensible was my opinion!

ElaineMarieBenes · 01/09/2021 22:18

One person did look like they’d forgotten their cardi though!

Shopgirl1 · 01/09/2021 22:18

Too early for me.

ScribblingPixie · 01/09/2021 22:19

I fished some out to walk my dog around the London streets tonight. Definitely needed them.

Goldenfan · 01/09/2021 22:20

Wore mine today. It was too cold here up north to go without.

Lucia574 · 01/09/2021 22:21

Too early for me! I’m in trousers.

EatSprayGlove · 01/09/2021 22:22

I'm debating this for tomorrow. I think it's too early but someone I worked with today had a pair on and I didn't think it was at all strange so I feel if you want to wear them them completely appropriate.

AuntieDolly · 01/09/2021 22:22

I had boots on today :(

bluechameleon · 01/09/2021 22:24

I wore them today for work and didn't even consider it might be deemed too early - it was certainly cold enough!

Blossomandbee · 01/09/2021 22:25

I've been wearing mine since last week. Who decides it's too early? It's freezing!

CupCalamity · 01/09/2021 22:26

I had them on yesterday with a fairly thick knee length skirt. Warmed up in the afternoon and I was a bit too toasty!

Askinvillarblues · 02/09/2021 07:17

Ah that’s good to hear that others are wearing them already - thank you for the reassurance that I won’t look totally odd. It does feel odd thinking about fishing them out of the drawer though - it’s only just September and my kids aren’t even back at school yet. What happened to summer?

I had them on yesterday at work with a dress. No sunshine at all here yesterday and definitely cardigan/jacket weather so not too early in my mind!

Bluntness100 · 02/09/2021 07:20

Depends . Sat is supposed to be 21 and a bit over cast but Sunday is 25 ans sunny, I’d not wear them then,

borntobequiet · 02/09/2021 07:20

It’s forecast 21 degrees and partially sunny in London on Saturday, next week in the mid 20s. I won’t be wearing autumn clothes (including opaque tights) until autumn temperatures kick in (generally late September/early October, unless there’s an Indian summer).

Fcuk38 · 02/09/2021 07:23

I’ve got them on today as I’m going in the office and it’s forecast 18 degrees! 18!! That’s freezing to me! And I can put my boots on with them and not have to tip
Toe across the car park in heels.

LubaLuca · 02/09/2021 07:28

I had them on yesterday for work. It was only 12° when I left the house.

Pokhora · 02/09/2021 07:43

I have been wearing them for weeks! I teamed them with my furry boots yesterday. It has been really chilly here.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 02/09/2021 07:47

It's cooler in the mornings, and there was very very fine rain in the air as I walked to the station this morning. But it isn't that cold that I'd want to wear tights - it will definitely warm up during the day. I don't really feel the cold though.

Londontown12 · 02/09/2021 07:57

I wore them first time Tuesday I was frozen 🥶!! X

GoodnightGrandma · 02/09/2021 07:59

Wear them, you can always take them off in a loo if you’re too hot.

This is an excellent point! Right, I’ll wear them but make sure legs are shaved just in case 😂

School run this morning in London was. Old, I'm not giving my flip flops up yet though!

Gwenhwyfar · 03/09/2021 20:04

I would wear them any day of the year if I was cold.
Otherwise, if it's too cold for a dress with bare legs and not cold enough for tights, wear trousers.
