Tights - is it too early for black opaques?

I’m off to London this weekend to meet up with some friends I haven’t seen in a very long time. Wondering what to wear - I quite fancy wearing a dress but is it too early in the season for black opaques? Think I’ll freeze if I go bare legged 🥶 and I’m not massively keen on nude tights.

I wore them today but it was too hot for them by the afternoon but was freezing this morning you can't win at this time of year!!

Laiste · 03/09/2021 20:27

I'm on day 3 of opaques again.

However - the sun came out at half 2 here and it got bloody hot so i took them off for the school run.

I don't think i've ever gone back into tights this early before though. 3 days out of August!! Hmm :(

I just bought myself a lovely pair of new ankle boots. And a coat Blush

Now is a great time to buy your winter bits. They've got all the colours in all the sizes! Grin

I actually find it a bit strange that pp would find it too hot for opaque tights but okay to wear trousers.Confused

Welshponyslave · 03/09/2021 21:02

I wore them for work today. I normally do the first few weeks of term in trousers and ballet pumps/brogues but had dress, tights, brogues and a cardie on today- I was still cold!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 03/09/2021 23:47

i never stop wearing them Grin tbf though, they are special support tights becaus ei have lymphodema in my lower legs so i dont really have much choice but im always freezing unless its over 30 degrees and even then im only just warm so its no worry to me to be in opaques year round Grin if youre cold, i say wear them, fashion rules are meant to be broken!!!

Same here. I was back at school last week for INSET and was cold in my usual trousers-blouse-ballet flats combo.

If London weather doesn’t perk up by Monday it’s black opaques & dresses for me next week.

I try to save ankle boots for after October half term, but I’m prepared to relax that if this crappy weather persists.

Too early and looks very winterish. It's only September.

fedup078 · 04/09/2021 08:47

I'm going 'out out' today for the first time since before Covid rocked up
It's meant to be 13 and overcast all day
Don't fancy dragging a coat out with me so I'm actually considering jumper dress and tights . Think it's raining now too

Jumpingintosummer · 04/09/2021 09:07

I’m clinging on to summer here in Scotland with my mum uniform of midi shirt dresses and trainers. Had lunch in Glasgow yesterday and saw a good few pairs of opaque tight wearers. We have a local September holiday, aiming to air mine from the 21st onwards!

If it's called, it's wintery isn't it. Dress for the temperature not some arbitrary rule.
bizboz · 04/09/2021 12:51

I've been wearing mine all summer as the weather has been so cold!

Askinvillarblues · 04/09/2021 14:51

I wore the dress - no tights but I took a jacket! I did see a mix of bare legs and tights though so wouldn’t have been out of place. Could do with tights today though- definitely a chill in the air.
