Bonus points if you can find one with hidden pockets.

Lined, or material thick enough not to be see through when the sun shines through it.

Doesn't have to be blue; I also like green, but will consider most colours for the perfect (for me) cotton dress.

Midi length. Size 12-14.

I know it's the wrong time of year to be buying summer dresses, but thought something might come up in the sales.

Thank you @waltzingparrot. That's a good find. I know I said I'd consider other colours, but unfortunately yellow isn't a good look on me.

@godwingolly - thank you. Unfortunately that shade of pink would do nothing for me either, but thanks for finding it. Thanks also for the Cos dresses. I'm not sure if any are quite right, but I'll take a closer look.

@Ikeameatballs - I like that dress. I particularly like it in the other colour (blue), but sadly they are sold out in my size.

I’ve now ordered it in blue!

SkepticalCat · 06/09/2021 09:43

@Ikeameatballs - I kept an eye on the Trudy dress and it briefly came back in stock. Have ordered it in size 14 from Hush and size 12 from John Lewis.

Do you like it? Is the dress lined?

OP posts:
Ikeameatballs · 06/09/2021 19:58

@SkepticalCat it was awful! It may have looked better ironed but DP said it looked like it was made of paper! And the cut of the shoulders and puff sleeves were not flattering on me.

SkepticalCat · 06/09/2021 20:20

@Ikeameatballs oh no! I've got such high hopes for this dress, but I'm lowering my expectations now 😆. I'll come back to let you know what I think when it arrives.

Thanks @goose1964, but it's not quite what I'm looking for.

I am same size as you OP and have [https://www.cosstores.com/en_gbp/women/womenswear/dresses/product.belted-shirt-dress-black.0973803002.html this]] from Cos, any good? It has pockets but no tiers.

OxanaVorontsova · 06/09/2021 20:27

Ugh link fail Sad

StCharlotte · 06/09/2021 20:44

I'm a bit confused - what's wrong with the one in your OP?

StCharlotte · 06/09/2021 20:45

Sorry just saw the title again! Ignore me.

Gatekeeper · 06/09/2021 20:48

it's made from polyester

SkepticalCat · 06/09/2021 21:14

@OxanaVorontsova I like that. I think I'll see how I get on with the Hush Trudy dress, but keep this one in mind.

Thanks @QuestionableMouse (I love the way your user name goes with mine Grin), I really like that. It's a shame they only have it in size 10 as it most likely won't fit me. I might try searching generally online for it though.

OP posts:
QuestionableMouse · 06/09/2021 22:17

It's a great pairing 😁

Sorry, I didn't think to check the sizes!

Byheckythump · 06/09/2021 22:26

How about this? Cotton and on sale!

@Byheckythump oh that's nice - I like that one. Wonder if it has pockets?

OP posts:
Ikeameatballs · 15/09/2021 07:26

@SkepticalCat how did you find the hush one?

SkepticalCat · 15/09/2021 07:42

@ikeameatballs I'm going to try it on again today before making a final decision, but I think it's going back.

My immediate thought when putting it on was "military nurse" - and that's with the blue and not khaki Grin.

I love the look and feel of the skirt, and I love that it has pockets, but I feel there is just too much going on in the top half - belt AND buttons AND front pockets AND puffy sleeves AND shoulder epaulettes. Just too fussy.

It's a real shame as it feels really comfy on. I love the colour and it's ideal for warm/hot days but want to be more covered up.

I got it for a really good price (£28, reduced from £99), so that's why I'm still deliberating. I definitely wouldn't keep it if I'd paid much more, but I'm wondering whether "it's ok" is a good enough reason to keep it, and to save my money for something that hits the spot.

I'm currently looking at this:

www.finerylondon.com/amelia-denim-blue-dress-d02f079-dbl

As we're coming into autumn, this one looks as though it could easily be worn with tights and boots for colder weather. I'm holding my nerve to see if it gets reduced in price.

I agree with your comments on the top half, too much going on!

I sort of know what you mean re the price now, it makes it seem like a bargain but is it if you don’t love it and so won’t wear it? I’ve bought so many false bargains before and then ended up either spending more to get what I really want or not wearing the item.
