Shopping in the trendy shops with my dd yesterday was like stepping back to 1997!

Low rise bootlegs, belt chains, kickers jumpers, combat trousers, mesh tops, triangle tops(can't think of the name)

Wow, felt like I was a teenager again and in a time warp. Looks like 90s fashion is well and truly back!!

@ItsSunnyOutside

The 90s/early noughties trend has been seeping in for a few years now but it is in full force now! It's very nostaglic isn't it! I remember being in high school and all the popular lads had the curtain hairstyle, which I am seeing on young lads again now.

The only thing I haven't seen much of, is pedal pushers. Did anyone else used to wear these? I used to wear mine with a little cropped boob tube!

Yes same here I remember that look!

It will be handy if peddle pushers come back as I can convert some of my many skinnny jeans into them..

I love the 90's look. I was a teen all the way through the 90's so it was definitely the best decade for me
My oldest ds is 19 and has been wearing the 90's style baggy jeans, t-shirts etc for a while now.
He has been wearing all his Dads stone island, Burberry sbd berghaus stuff from the 90's. He also has long hair in curtains

@Bbq1

Funnily enough I noticed a girl last week wearing a t shirt under a slip dress and she had her hair in messy bins at the back of her head and I thought "How 90's". I didn't realise that it was actually a thing though.
I loved t-shirts under slip dresses in the 90s. I'm fair skinned and it was a great way to wear summer dresses without burning and without needing to cover myself in factor 50!!

Try urban outfitters, it sounds like something they will stock.

DagenhamRoundhouse · 25/08/2021 18:17

All this sounds more like the 70s to me!

TheRebelle · 25/08/2021 19:04

The young women at my gym are all wearing cycling shorts and crop tops, it was giving me flashbacks to PE 1996!

Hobbes8 · 25/08/2021 19:11

I saw some of the jewelled butterfly clips you put in your hair the other day. That was a weird trend.

linerforlife · 25/08/2021 19:11

I wonder if PVC will make a come back... I had a PVC mini skirt in the 90s that I thought I was the nuts in!

Hobbes8 · 25/08/2021 19:22

Remember those tiny clear rucksacks?

idontlikealdi · 25/08/2021 19:29

I had exactly this with dds yesterday. I was picking everything up saying 'oh my God I had this' over and over...

It's the first time stuff i had has come back into mainstream fashion again.

FionnulaTheCooler · 25/08/2021 19:29

I may or may not have bought DD a pair of those tracksuit bottoms with the poppers down the side because I always coveted my friend's pair as a teen but never had them. She also has a pair of purple combat bottoms identical to the ones I had age 15.

thelegohooverer · 25/08/2021 20:00

I had to google curtains to figure out what you meant- never heard it called that. Oh my! the nostalgia hit!

Chickoletta · 25/08/2021 20:39

When I was at school we had a wonderful hippyish English teacher who had been to see the Beatles live in concert etc. We used to try to sidetrack her in lessons by asking her to ‘tell us about the 60s’.

Now I’m an English teacher and I’ve recently had teenagers wistfully asking ‘Miss, tell us about the 90s.’ They’re all listening to Alanis Morrisette and early Oasis and I’ve gained whole new levels of street cred by knowing my stuff…

covetingthepreciousthings · 25/08/2021 20:48

Does anyone else remember when leggings with skirts over the top (attached) were a trend?? I haven't seen them come back in yet though, think that must have been 90s, oh and hair mascara!

MarleneDietrichsSmile · 25/08/2021 22:16

It won’t be full 90s though, it never is a full cycle

DS has nicked DH’s old 1990s Levi’s … and his 90s cargo pants… and he has curtains! Grin … so it IS happening but the mullet thing for girls I see is much more 80s Confused

ItsSunnyOutside · 26/08/2021 09:14

@Bbub keep hold of your skinnies! They will make a comeback in 15/20 years time!

Housemum · 26/08/2021 14:02

Hoping that Kickers come back, regret getting rid of mine (the chunky soled loafer style). I my head I am still in the 90s, listen to Absolute 90s in the car most of the time.

crumbsnamechange · 26/08/2021 14:40

Oh God is low-rise back in? Just as soon as I embraced the mum jeans I hear about this now!

Deathraystare · 26/08/2021 14:56

@DagenhamRoundhouse

Yep sounds like 70's to me as well. Loved the 70's with the puff sleeves and flounces but now I would look like a 'bonny' (fat) baby!!
