I ordered my first item from there the other day. Only because it was heavily reduced or I wouldn't have. Does anyone buy from there? Is it good / long lasting?

I did but their prices recently have got so silly, £100 for a viscose top, no way!

MsDastardley · 23/08/2021 19:31

I really like it and have quite a lot. I’ve found quality to be good, better than Hush which I also like. I like their ethics, pay living wage, sustainable etc, so don’t mind paying more.

ActonSquirrel · 23/08/2021 19:34

I ordered this

www.baukjen.com/products/aphrodite-dress-with-lenzing-ecovero-navy-woodblock-print

It was £69 over the weekend and went back up today. I like the pattern and a decent summer dress will last years as they aren't worn as much as winter clothes I reasoned.

I have 2 pairs of their palazzo trousers and am considering buying a third. They are great quality and wash well. I have worn them t least once a week for almost every type of occasion for 12 months- night out/day out/work/casual and they are still in good condition.

Their prices are stiff, on a par with Hush/Boden/Mint Velvet, but they are transparent about their ethics and that's part of what you pay for.

I’ve got that, it looks lovely on. I hope you like yours too

@MsDastardley that's good to know. I get nervous ordering things without trying them on. It is a faff to send back. Smile

I find them good quality but arms and legs are always about an inch too long for me and I'm not that petite (5 ft 5). Also gone very spendy

Returns are easy enough, there is usually a Yodel label in the parcel and you can also print out a Hermes label. However, it’s takes absolutely ages for refunds to be processed, around a month, which is just ridiculous. That is my one criticism of Baukjen. Tbh though I’ve only ever sent a couple of things back. Fingers crossed you like the dress. Hopefully you will get it tomorrow, delivery usually very quick

Beachlovingirl · 23/08/2021 20:19

I have a few of their tops that are great for work with jeans - I work in tech so it’s pretty casual but I like wearing a smarter top. They wash well and are a heavy fabric so they look expensive compared to buying a top from h and m say. Long sleeved too so good for colder weather.

I also have the leather leggings bought in the sale and these I have worn a lot.

I ordered a few leather jackets and found these just not to be a good style - too safe and generic so I sent these back.

ToykotoLosAngeles · 23/08/2021 20:37

I have a nice breton from there which was originally £69. It's £35 nice though, not nearly double that.

Midlifemission · 23/08/2021 21:20

I used to buy loads from there and haven't for ages - partly due to WFH and partly because the quality is so good that stuff doesn't seem to wear out ( or really date in style !) I admired that dress too OP I hope you love it - the prices aren't dissimilar to Boden or Hush.

Surewhynot · 23/08/2021 21:24

I’ve not been particularly impressed with their clothes in the last few months. It’s all very samey and I wish they’d do some looser-fitting smart stuff.

Wagsandclaws · 23/08/2021 21:28

I bought a dress for the first time from them, it was £160 and viscose.

As nice as it was I sent it back. There is no way I can pay that sort of money for that sort of quality which was, at best just ok.

ActonSquirrel · 23/08/2021 21:32

OK but that dress was £69 over the weekend. I would pay no more. Tbh fatface viscose dresses are £55-£60 full price and shrink a bit after one wash.

Ill see how it is.

It is great quality, love all my Baukjen stuff. Much better quality than Fatface, a bit more grown up in style too imo Grin. It fits me, even at 6ft, I would say it’s for tall-ish people

But too expensive for me now…

AnnieSnap · 23/08/2021 22:17

It is great quality and the staff are lovely and helpful. I have several things from there, including my lovely (byproduct) leather jacket. I do find their stuff very tame though. I’m 62, but most of it is not edgy enough for me. Also, it is shockingly expensive. Despite what other posters have said, in my experience, Boden and Hush don’t charge £160 for a viscose dress 😮 I do love their ethics though.

ActonSquirrel · 23/08/2021 22:33

Hush charges £110 for a viscose dress so not far off

25% more!

ActonSquirrel · 23/08/2021 23:11

I suppose so but I'd never pay full price for either.

Gillybobs · 23/08/2021 23:35

I've been buying baukjen for years and the stuff is indestructible so cost per wear makes it fantastic value. I've bought more than ever this past year as they do the casual work from home look so well. I've never ever paid full price, there is always a 15% off code around as a minimum, and I always buy in their sales too.
Their ethics are unmatched as far as I can tell, certainly in that style/ price bracket.
Re the returns comment above, if you email them your royal mail tracking number they refund you instantly, even if they don't have the parcel yet.
I can't fault them

WhiteSandyBeach · 23/08/2021 23:42

I love their stuff, but found that returns are painfully slow. I bought a lot of JOhn Lewis and Baukjen at the same time (to try on several sizes). JL refunded in days - it was a month for Baukjen! I had to keep chasing by email. It actually has put me off ordering from them again.

ToykotoLosAngeles · 23/08/2021 23:46

I know what you mean - I'd never go above about £75 for a casual dress so £110 is the same level of "too expensive, nope" as £160 or even £400!

I've also had them refund me the wrong amount at least 3 times (too low, of course). I've very rarely had that happen with any other retailer. Baukjen have always refunded the rest when I complained, but it has put me off.

I do agree that there stuff lasts well, though.

ActonSquirrel · 24/08/2021 07:35

Shit I hope it fits now then. Sounds as if sending back will be a nightmare
