Does anyone not wear jeans ?

Following on from the skinny jeans being over thread I was thinking about this. I have gone from wearing jeans literally every day from about 2002-2019 to hardly wearing them at all. Every time I put them on I just find them so restrictive. They fit me fine, not to small, they just feel uncomfortable. I hate high waists so I think that's part of the problem.

I'm considering selling them all on Ebay and just sticking to joggers when I want to he casual but will I regret it, does anyone else not wear them ?

I don't very often. They never feel good and I'm not convinced they look good. Today I am wearing a long black skirt.

jclm · 21/08/2021 10:38

I very rarely wear them. I can't stand the feeling... I am pear shape with a very large derriere (!) and I also can't ever find jeans that fit around the waist. They make my thighs look huge too. I get on much better with joggers and wide leg palazzos.

Supersimkin2 · 21/08/2021 10:41

I don’t. Jeans are dull and don’t look good unless you’re slightly too thin imho.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 21/08/2021 10:42

Nope, I live in jeans these days, and I don't care what I look like ... Maybe I don't belong in a forum titled "Style and Beauty" Grin Grin Grin

Just seen a women in leggings and oversized sweatshirt. I thought it looked really nice. She was probably late 20s, early 30s.

Whenitsjustyourclockreading505 · 21/08/2021 10:48

Following as I don’t know what to wear instead.
I live in jeans but didn’t want to put them on today as I’m feeling all uncomfortable and restricted in them today.

I don’t want to wear joggers, as that’s what I lounge about in after my shower in the evening so they feel like pj’s to me, I’m always cold so skirts aren’t an option. I can seem to find everyday trousers with longer length legs that don’t cost £££.

grapewine · 21/08/2021 10:50

I haven't worn jeans in probably ten years. I look shit in them, so I don't buy them. Dresses and tights most days or leggings and an oversized shirt when I'm on my own at home (especially during lockdown!)

Havehope21 · 21/08/2021 10:50

Nope - I don't wear them and never really have done. I mainly wear Boden leggings instead... they are good quality, flattering and thick material. Perfect with oversized shirts, tunics, jumpers etc. Or I wear skirts and dressing.
I have never liked the ways jeans are so restrictive - I also find them quite heavy to wear.

PearlyBird · 21/08/2021 10:53

Well the cut of jeans has changed really quickly in the last 2 yrs compared to the last ten years, even if you wear jeans again, your one ones might look dated

Bluntness100 · 21/08/2021 11:00

Maybe you jist need new jeans, I also hate high waisted and find them both restrictive and unflattering.

But I’m not sure the alternative is joggers all the time to be honest.

Salanda · 21/08/2021 11:10

If you do want to wear jeans - I would definitely recommend J Brand jeans. So soft and comfortable and hold their shape. Just a bit of stretch that makes them super comfy. I’ve got mine from the Outnet at a much reduced price.

Salanda · 21/08/2021 11:10

(I’ve had lots of cardboard hard uncomfortable jeans from other brands).

I think I've owned one pair of jeans in the last 20-30 years, and I didn't wear them much. I find them uncomfortable & rarely flattering (on me! not on other people). As a very casual dresser with a non-office job I wear combats in leisure time and workwear trousers to work.

For smarter wear at the moment I love jumpsuits, and I hope they stay in fashion. I've also had leggings drift in and out of my wardrobe at various times, right now I like these heavy weight skirted leggings (which look much less weird when not worn with very strange boots) mostly because they're decent enough for the pub but extremely comfortable and convenient for cycling (favourite pub is a few miles away from home)

Sadik · 21/08/2021 11:26

Oh, and I'd suggest checking out combats/cargo trousers as a casual alternative to jeans, they're reasonably on-trend and very comfortable. Plenty of low-rise ones around (search for Y2K and/or low rise & you'll find loads of options), there's some nice cord ones at Urban outfitters coming into autumn.

Holidaytan · 21/08/2021 11:26

Never wear them now.
I wear joggers, leggings, harem trousers and long shorts.
I have recently purchased a pair of Jean dungarees that I’m hoping will be comfy, as they’re quite soft and not restricted around the waist/crotch, as jeans usually are.

Boogiewoody · 21/08/2021 12:10

This is the problem, I keep buying jeans hoping they'll be comfy or nice and they're not so wasted money.

Thanks for the info about the combats I'll have a look for them

I loved combats back in the day, but all the ones I have seen have elasticated or narrow ankles hems. My legs are too short, I need to be able turn them up. Loved combats and a vest top!

RandomDent · 21/08/2021 12:17

I wear tapered trousers, not sure of their official name but they are near the leggings/jeggings in Next. I like that they are smartish at the ankle and drape over the leg instead of being tight.

Combats and vests were the best! So comfy and lots of pockets.
Boogiewoody · 21/08/2021 12:27

Thank you to whoever suggested Urban Outfitters ! Those combats look gorgeous I'm going to get a pair right now.

@Icenii the ones at Urban Outfitters aren't like that, just straight to the ground

I have two pairs of jeans that fit and rarely ever wear them. I spend a lot of time in gym gear though.

Ughmaybenot · 21/08/2021 12:33

If you’re not wearing them, get them gone, no sense in keeping them, taking up space.
I rarely wear jeans anymore, I feel fine in them and I look fine too, it’s just not really the look I choose to go for anymore. Shorts, a skirt or a dress, 99% of the time.

giggly · 21/08/2021 12:38

I haven’t worn jeans in any style for about 30 years, I’m 54.
I hate the restrictive feel of them.
Always wore combats and variations of wide leg trousers/ slouchy type breeks.
