Does anyone really throw out of date makeup out?

It started when I noticed some of my foundations were around 5 years old , now I've noticed that I have eyeshadows that are possibly 8 years old 🙈

I change mascara every 4 months though if that redeems me?

Should I be chucking all the 'old' stuff out?

Mascara and eyeliner yes, because otherwise I get horrible skin reactions, the rest I'm not so militant about.

I always chuck mascara after 3 months but my eye health is very important to me. It does get quite wasteful and I'm not buying anymore until I'm back in the office again.

It's good to remember that bacteria can't penetrate the surface of a lot of makeup, oily things like lipstick if you wipe the top layer off with a clean tissue then your good to go. Same with pencils a sharpen will remove that top layer. Liquids however are different but I think the likes of lipgloss, liquid eyeliner, mascara etc go manky quicker anyway.

Perfume lasts for decades if correctly stored. I buy and wear vintage perfumes and have only ever had two that were a bit off. And even then it was only the top notes so I still wear them, but just put them on a good 30 minutes before I need to smell nice.

Nope, and my mascara only gets chucked if it's dry as balls.

Reminds me though, I found a bottle of fake tan the other day that I've had for over 6 years 😳😂 pumped some onto kitchen paper and it was GREEN. So yeah I chucked that 😂

I do. However, in the last few years I've only bought products that I use and love. I created my own "kit", it that makes sense.

Kit:
1 x foundation
1 x bb cream
2x blusher - peachy & pink(ish)
1x silicone primer (porefessional) only used at special events
lip products (nude, red, coral, lip gloss, burgundy & dark nude) - fav lipstick CT: pillow talk
1x bronzer
1x mascara
1x eyebrow pencil + 1x eyebrow podwder
1x powder
1x brown pencil, 1x black pencil
2x eyeshadow palettes

& that's it

Nooooo! Mascaras don’t get ‘good’ until you’ve had them a few months-they are way too thick and clumpy to begin with Grin.

I have never had an eye infection so don’t feel too bad.

Once they start looking or smelling off.

Does anyone know if facial oil cleansers go off? I have a Shiseido one from about 7/8 years ago. Smells ok but when googling to find an answers as to how long facial oils/ cleansers last have not found an answer.

Find out the main oil in the cleanser and look up the shelf life of that oil here
