Before I part with my money, I'd love some second opinions! I like the simple structured shape and the gold detailing. It also looks like the perfect size for my every day stuff, and has a handy strap too. Let me know what you think... Or if you have any suggestions for anything similar then let me know. I'm torn between this style and a crossbody! Budget up to £300.

Thank you!

@Maireas

It's £99 from Selfridges.
Love that one ! Thank you ...

I like it. I love that shape of bag. They are tardises. You can fit a waterbottle, a novel, big purse, glasses case, make up bag etc inside them while they are still quite compact and don't bulge on the outside. The tan leather goes with everything if you want it as an everyday bag.

What other people call boring, I'd describe as classic. But you could look at Radley and Osprey for similar at lower price.

Auxiliary016 · 14/08/2021 06:09

Thanks for all the responses - as predicted a mixed bag (see what I did there?), but great to hear some opinions.

I've actually been lusting after that Mulberry cross body for ages @jackstini but I can't bring myself to spend £500 at the moment!

I've realised that I definitely prefer "stiff" leather to the slouchier styles. If I keep thinking about that RL bag in a few days time, I'll probably buy it!

If its type it’s pretty nice.
I don’t tend to like boxy hard bags.
Interesting no photo of the tan inside - assume it has same lining ?
Four things I’m not fond of -
Gold metal
The branding (I’d always wear or hold it without that showing
The base would become scuffed/worn pretty quickly - I’d just want to see the quality of the leather there and would not be putting it down often on rough surfaces.
The price - but ignore this - I just am not a bag person and would happily buy something for £30 which looked kind of similar.

Cazzovuoi · 14/08/2021 06:31

I think it’s gorgeous, classic and elegant.

However that type of leather scratches so easily, your heart will broken with it. Look for a saffiano type leather, anything with texture, that will hide scuffs and scratches.

Tiddlywinks10 · 14/08/2021 06:39

I think it’s a classic- go with everything type bag.

Only thing I’d point out is that it looks similar to a Kate Spade bag I had (similar price point) that with the same flat leather finish, scratched terribly on a door.

I have a RL saffiano finish bag and find it’s much more forgiving for banging around. I used it for work for 3 years with no issue!

On the last handbag thread, somebody mentioned this brand / bag, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since!

I do like the Lauren bag - it's classic and elegant - but also agree with others that I think you could do better for the price.

ReeseWitherfork · 14/08/2021 07:02

I really like it OP. Love the simplicity. Couldn't obviously see anything else online that looked equally simple. You could go a lot cheaper for something similar:

That Polene bag is gorgeous Luckingfovely

OP much prefer the RL than the coach one.

Auxiliary016 · 14/08/2021 07:07

@reesewitherfork Thank you. I still love the RL too. It's so classic and timeless.

How about this one. Similar style, with a bit of accents d better price

chatw0o0 · 14/08/2021 07:19

I liked the Coach Kip that you linked to @Auxiliary016 - very cute!

ImInStealthMode · 14/08/2021 07:24

@MrsFin

Do people really pay £200+ for bags?? And if so, why?
Yep. For me it's because I can, I want to, and after a lifetime of cheap bags that look scuffed, cracked or marked after a couple of months I appreciate that a well made leather bag improves with age rather than disintegrating.

Some of the bags that have been linked here are lovely Blush

LitPearl · 14/08/2021 07:28

I like it!

Auxiliary016 · 14/08/2021 07:29

OK OK...totally unrelated BUT it helps anyone, can I just flag up this absolute bargain in black that I just bought in the John Lewis sale? It's so lovely and practical... And look at that discount!

www.johnlewis.com/coach-lora-30-leather-carryall-tote-bag/black/p5289565

(The RL/tan bag search is still very much ongoing, but the black one also stole my heart this morning Grin I promise I don't usually go on a bag rampage as much as this!)

@MrsFin sit down for this, I spent 1,900 euro on a Loewe hammock bag just before my 50th and I do not regret it.
I personally am a little shocked at times by the amounts of money people spend on cars / petrol/ insurance/ servicing when they live on bus routes but each to their own

It's tiny! It's only 25 x 20cm. That's a lot of money for something that will only fit a purse and a phone. You'll probably get some tissues and a lippy in as well I suppose.
I need a bigger bag than that for everyday stuff : phone, purse, anti bac gel, mask, tissues, pens, small hairbrush, etc.
It's a nice shape, and I like the colour, but I can't see it being a practical, daily use bag.

LitPearl · 14/08/2021 07:40

This from the Plene site ooooo! never heard of them but number huit, numero dix - both look like MORE expensive bags in my opinion.

ImInStealthMode · 14/08/2021 07:46

@Auxiliary016 Oh My now that is lovely and an amazing bargain. I am so, so tempted... Smile

DoodleBelle · 14/08/2021 07:47

I love it! It’s very classy. I have something similar that has lasted years and I still love. My only concern would be that it could be on the heavy side as mine certainly is.

Auxiliary016 · 14/08/2021 07:48

@iminstealthmode Do it! There are two other colours too if you're not as keen on black....

(I'm a bad influence)
