Could I wear this dress to a wedding?

I have a wedding to attend at the end of the month and I'm trying not to buy anything new. I've never worn this dress and I find it quite flattering, but I'm worried about the colour, is it a bit too black for a wedding?

Looks perfect!

maddy68 · 09/08/2021 14:06

That's lovely and it's perfect

MyFavouriteIsland · 09/08/2021 14:07

Yes, it's lovely

Palavah · 09/08/2021 14:07

What colour is the top? Green or black?

Yes it looks like a perfectly appropriate wedding guest dress. Don't wear black accessories.

MiseryFire · 09/08/2021 14:07

I have this other one which is definitely more wedding colour appropriate, but it's not as flattering. It's an old work friend and the last time I saw these people I was decidedly slimmer 🙁

Oh brilliant, thanks for the quick feedback. It's black on top.

I prefer the first one 😊

Purplecatshopaholic · 09/08/2021 14:09

The first is lovely fir a wedding and v flattering. Second one is fine but more casual I think. I would go with the first one, with colour somewhere in the accessories

AdaColeman · 09/08/2021 14:09

That looks super! Think about wearing bright green accessories with it for a bit of a summer vibe!

ajandjjmum · 09/08/2021 14:10

The black one looks more wedding-y to me - lovely!

Vbree · 09/08/2021 14:10

Both lovely! I prefer the black/white one though.

robotcollision · 09/08/2021 14:12

The first one is lovely.

Yrevocsid · 09/08/2021 14:12

First one definitely with green shoes and a yellow clutch.

RuthTopp · 09/08/2021 14:12

First one is lovely. Do you have a pair of bright heels / and or handbag ?

AdaColeman · 09/08/2021 14:12

The second one is pretty, but not as stylish as the first dress. You would make more of a statement in the first dress.

BadlydoneHelen · 09/08/2021 14:13

First one as long as you're not wearing black heels/bag

Elouera · 09/08/2021 14:13

I'd wear a bright pashmina or bolero over the black top, maybe the same green as in the skirting. I personally never wear black to a wedding, even though others clearly will same its fine.

Rina66 · 09/08/2021 14:18

First one, love the neckline and I think you can definitely wear with black shoes and bag, it photographs well too.

Amdone123 · 09/08/2021 14:24

The first is lovely.
The second is nice too but not dressy enough imo.

SuperSketchy · 09/08/2021 14:44

I love both! Either totally fine for a wedding imo.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/08/2021 14:59

First one - it's lovely.

CarpeVitam · 09/08/2021 15:02

LOVE the first one OP!

Givemebackmylilo · 09/08/2021 15:04

First one suits you fantastically!

MiseryFire · 09/08/2021 15:05

Yay! I'm so glad it's OK, I definitely feel more confident in it. I'll have a look at some potential accessories to go with it, I like the thought of green if I can find any.

Agree that first one is smarter.

I also think you look fab though! I’m dieting to get to your size. Remember too that if you have gained any lockdown weight ( you don’t look like it but you know you) then it’s a fair bet that the people you’re meeting with have too!

Enjoy the day.
