Hello!so, I've seen recently a lot of people on Instagram talking about curated ear piercing styles...

Known as the 'curated ear', it's ear piercing x1000. It's an art form that consists of multiple piercings all over the ear in different formations unique to each person. ... You never 'curate' your right ear to be identical to your left.

Anyway, it's something I think looks super pretty, and it's definitely got me thinking about future piercings!

I'd love to see yours and if you have any piercings that you love and would recommend? I had a forward helix but sadly wasn't pierced properly and so it had to come out.. I loved how it looked though, so really tempted to have that done again!

I'd also love to know where everybody buys their helix jewellery from, as I'm really struggling to find any that I like 🙈

Errrm... this sounds basically the same as when I was a teenager and it was fashionable to have multiple holes in your lobes. Always uneven. Can't say mine were 'curated' - I used to pop into the ear piercing booth in lewisham shopping centre and get them to quickly wang another one in while my mum was in Marks and Spencer.

This is the second thread I’ve seen in a couple of days about “the curated ear”.

Surely the photo example is ear piercing x2 rather than x1000?

Great way to sell earrings I guess.

I don’t get how this is a ‘new’ trend? Haven’t people always done this? Certainly when I was a teen the more holes you had the ‘cooler’ you were! Calling it a work of art is a bit bloody much!!

But seriously, curated has to be the most over used word of 2021!! Anyone using it should be hung drawn and quartered for being a twat.

It's not curated, it's selected, organized, and looked after.

I was just scrolling through Instagram and that's what it's been called by piercing studios etc. Please don't shoot the messenger!

Ha I’m definitely showing my age as this was pretty standard for a grungy teen in the 1990s. My various piercings were definitely not curated in any sense of the word! I still wear most of them though except all the ones that got infected and I had to remove.

As well as Maria Tash, Astrid and Miyu have some nice earrings for a variety of different piercings so good for ideas.

Have a look at tada and toy as well - quite a bit cheaper than Maria tash

Curated is a very wanky way to describe a lot of ear piercings.
But, I do have three lobe piercings in each ear (two studs and a hoop), a stud in my tragus on my right ear and one stud in my forward helix in my left. Thinking about possibly adding another smaller forward helix piercing in my left and a flat in my right.
I think with a lot of pretty delicate jewellery it looks lovely.

Sorry everyone I honestly didn't realise that there was another thread the same. I also didn't realise how controversial the term curated could be. I didn't make it a 'thing' it's something that is widely used to describe the style - only noticed it more as I've been researching ☹️

No needs to apologise OP. For me I’m just a bit baffled at two threads saying it’s a new idea because, as pp said, we did this in the 90s and then my DD who is 20 has had this for about 4 or 5 years. So I didn’t realise it was seen as a new thing.

I’m not sure how true this is but I think it was a marketing campaign by Maria Tash targeting 30+ women a couple years ago. The first time I heard about ‘curated ears’ was the first time I discovered Maria Tash.

"Curated ear piercings", I have literally heard it all now! The implication is no-one ever thought about where their piercings were going before, they just banged 'em in at random.
Not laughing at you, OP, just the wanky Instagram term for something that's been done for centuries.

There's only two piercings though, not very unique
