The best red lipstick. Proper red, red.

It's a gift. I need the ultimate red lipstick. A proper red colour, not a gloss, or one that you sharpen, a lipstick.

Has anyone come across the perfect red lipstick. Ideally I'd like to spend £30 ISH.

I like Laura Mercier Velour Extreme in Dominate, though Fire is a bet reddier. And Rouge Essentiel in Mon Rouge - very creamy texture, depends if you like that.

Get yourself to a Chanel counter and the will find one for you.

That or Dior 999.

I like both Ruby Woo and Russian Red (darker) by MAC, and the liner pencil Cherry is perfect to go with.

The quality has gone from Mac lipsticks but they do make lovely shades still

I have Revlon's Red Rules The World which really suits Asian and darker complexions. Matte.

Dior 999 red! With matching liner (that I also put underneath the lipstick).

Lisa Eldridge Velvet Ribbon. It’s a gorgeous, classic red in a matte texture, but it’s not drying and it stays on really well.

Absolutely Chanel at that price point and if it's a gift. The colours are gorgeous and feel great on. And the packaging is on point too, as you'd expect

I was just coming on to say this! I like Velvet Morning, too, which is an orange-red, but Velvet Ribbon is a classic Hollywood blue-red.

Maybelline Super Stay 24 hour in 510 Red Passion. It's bright red, you paint it on, moisturise with the other end and it's there until morning. I'm always getting compliments and it doesn't budge.

Dior 999 with lip liner to match (999) that is the most classical red and I do have a lot of reds!

I’ve purchased MAC Ruby Woo as a gift before twice and it was loved both times.

(I wear MAC Russian Red — a beautiful blue-toned red)

The original Fenty Stunna is a liquid lipstick.

Its one red formulated to suit every single skin tone. And by god its red!

Not sure if that meets your requirements re. format. But it certainly meets the colour requirement of proper red red.

It depends on your skin tone and the undertone of the red lipstick.
I have a warm undertone and cannot wear blue based reds only orange ones, so be careful.

Smashbox Bing is also lovely. I always get compliments when I wear it.
