TK Maxx 'bargains'

Does anyone have a really good experience of buying stuff from TK Maxx? What am I doing wrong as I seem to always end up with substandard stuff? Most recently, I just bought a silver chain (£49.99) online to give to someone as a present. It arrived this morning. Just unpacked it, unclasped it to take the labels off. Went to do it up again and the whole clasp structure came apart on the table! WTF!

The cookware section is worth a look - i have bought quite a lot of cut price LeCreuset items and good quality knives and saucepans.

Also kids toys - I've bought reduced playmobil, usborne books, a bigjigs train set and table for £20 (online elsewhere it was over £100) and those grobag baby sleeping bags for half price or so.

Not so good for clothes IMO. I have bought a few pieces which were pretty good, from brands like crew clothing and fat face where I would usually shop anyway. But a lot of the "brands" are made by or for tkmaxx so not bargains.

@MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously

I think they are best for house things - if you want a frying pan or a set of knives it can be great. Also Christmas decorations etc. Clothes are hit and miss although I do but decent quality UGG type boots every year for about £60 which I use as slippers for the entire year.
I agree.

I always buy my odd pans there, had a great small frying pan that was oven proof. So useful.

I also buy all my crystal glasses there as they are much cheaper.

I think the clothes are generally pretty shoddy although I got DD a Spyder ski jacket once.

Prompted by WaitinginVain’s assurance that the online TKM experience is far less random and unreliable than I’d assumed, I had a browse last night and got all excited when I saw a cut-price version of a kitchen item I’ve been eying elsewhere. Same brand just older colours. Couldn’t quite persuade myself to buy - but that may be because I checked the Amazon reviews ...

Love the big bottles of “professional “ shampoo & conditioner and the Calvin Klein socks .

I love TK maxx but hate the online version! I've had some absolute bargains from there. Aka Zara baby clothes for like £1.99 each etc. My mum and sister always manage to find designer stuff cheap like Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Armani etc! It is random but if you can get good pieces every so often it's good x

I love a good rummage!

Coats can be good, I have a Danish brand waterproof (£30, same in Anthropologie was £150) a cashmere overcoat and a winter parka. all fantastic quality.

Set of stainless steel saucepans
Mugs from Bridgewater and Scion

Endless branded socks and underwear for everyone (get multipacks to go in Xmas stockings).

A favourite Benetton shirt.
Seven For All Mankind jeans
Skechers, New Balance trainers.
Osprey, Paul Costello and Kipling bags

And my star buy - a butter soft leather John Galliano hobo bag! It was in the clearance of the designer section in the Covent Garden store - £40. I couldn't believe my luck.

I've never bought from them online, just in store , and have found great bargains and lovely things generally. Good quality cashmere jumpers for £50, Emma Bridgewater and Orla Kiely pieces greatly reduced, beautiful notebooks, wrapping paper, plant pots, cashmere.socks, plenty of organic/ cruelty free / vegan skincare etc. Plus the freebies when you collect the loyalty 'keys' are really good. I love TKMaxx.

Well my first online TKM purchase arrived yesterday. Kitchenware from a well known brand, available for roughly double the price (in other colours) at lots of kitchen shops, and Amazon.

The packaging was somewhat skimpy, meaning the item’s own box arrived a bit battered, but the thing itself is perfect.

I’m pleased and relieved; I love a bargain and have missed browsing in person in a store.
