SOTD Chanel 19 for a checkup and S&P at the dentist.

Sotd Armani Si Intense(new 2021) version. Very blackcurranty

I got 20 minutes in a department store today! Sampled Chanel sycomore, la Pausa and Bois des iles. Sycomore was my favourite, very smooth polished vetiver. La pausa reminded me of Prada infusion d'iris.

Also tried terre d'hermes which I loved, ntot what I expected. Fresh and vibrant.

And tried some Estée Lauder classics; white linen, youth dew, cinnabar and azuree.

What did you think of the ELs?

Very subtle and goes on all vanilla but then dries down to a whipped cream scent

Ooh, yes! I saw your post yesterday @madamceladon, so SOTE last night was Estée Lauder Youth Dew. One of my favourite fragrances, along with Cinnabar, which I keep for Christmas. 🎄 The new reformulated versions don't smell quite as rich and spicy as the originals once did, but at least they are still recognisably themselves. I love a good sniff session in a dept store - would love to hear your thoughts on the Lauder classics.

I don't think I did them justice as they were on strips not skin, also they will be the modern formulations... none of them lit my fire but I will revisit cinnabar and youth dew.

I did like how white linen does smell exactly like fresh washing! Clever.
Sadly I did like the very expensive Chanels much more. Expensive taste 🤦‍♀️

I loved terre d'hermes. Fresh vibrant and minerally. And also Hermes equipage. I've got £80 in John Lewis vouchers burning a hole in my pocket and can't decide...

I may have to treat myself to a bottle of cinnabar one of these days...

I had the same moment of surprise smelling White Linen, @madamceladon. It smelled just so crisp and fresh, but sadly was a bit too starched for me. Gosh, I fancy a trip to a dept store now. Am going into London in a couple of weeks, so maybe then.

My much loved aunt wore EL white linen (I'd say it was her signature scent)
I loved it on her but its too stark for me. It really is a beautiful scent though.

@Opal8, I know exactly what you mean! Last black Friday, I blind bought both SL Ambre Sultan and SL Arabie in one day, and I hardly ever make impulse purchases because I tend to get terrible buyers remorse. I nearly chopped my credit card in half afterwards, but forgave myself as soon as they arrived; they smelled absolutely divine! The bell jar Arabie is housed in soon soothed any remaining qualms.

Of course, since then, each time I reach for my credit card I just keep telling myself that you can never have enough perfume. And I believe its true, too! 🙃

No SOTD yesterday or today yet, as it feels like I've got a cold (not covid) coming - I spent yesterday and all last night shivering under about six blankets. Of course, what should start playing as soon as I turned on the radio this morning? That song from Grease: "I've got chills; they're multiplying..." Grrr! 🥶😂

Hope everyone had a great Halloween, it was very quiet here. Am slightly disappointed though, as I was going to wear something dark and smoky yesterday, but was too tired and feverish. 🎃👻 🤒🤧
