SOTD L’Air de Rien, yesterday was Black Opium. Ouch, opal, hope you’re okay.

Opal8 · 21/10/2021 19:09

Yeah.
Just a bit sore.
Sotd avon timeless. Such a great perfume. I don't know why I don't wear this more...

FragrantlyScent · 21/10/2021 22:50

You have my sympathy, @Opal8, stitches are awfully uncomfortable. I was very itchy when I had mine. When do they come out? Hope everything went OK at the hospital today.

SOTD Clinique, Aromatics Elixir. My absolute favourite perfume, because it was the first grown-up scent I bought myself. I'm testing the pp version as clinique have completely ruined the original, it smells like stale curry now. Pp is actually quite close, it's just missing a bit of the incense and spice of the original; a bit of richness, opulence and heft. I'm not sure why, but I've found that if I leave pp perfumes for about a month, the notes seem to smooth out and increase in depth, so I'm going to do that and see if it improves. Maybe because they're oil based they need time to blend together?

Opal8 · 21/10/2021 23:03

Thanks x
Yes, they are very itchy! I can take the dressing off tomorrow.
My rheumatology appointment was cancelled sadly - Dr is Isolating so can't be helped - but disappointing. Going next week instead.
Went shopping today and for lunch with my mum, dc and dn.
It was pretty busy. And we were by far in the minority by wearing masks. Made me pretty depressed tbh. I won't be going into town again any time soon. There were people coughing and spluttering everywhere (which I don't normally mind but yknow global pandemic...)
Then mum had a funny turn and I had to borrow a wheelchair to get her back to the car...
All in all I'm tired and sore (and itchy!)

I don’t get Christmas presents from many people - my mum always gives me a John Lewis voucher, MIL asks, DP is amazing at thoughtful surprises but doesn’t ask, and BIL/SIL tend to go for quantity over quality so lots of silly wee things.

I would love a full bottle of Chanel Le Lion (no chance)
If MIL asks I would like a new bottle of Mitsouko or Clinique Wrappings
I will buy a new bottle of Diptyque Eau Duelle if I get a JL voucher from my mum. Last year I replenished my NRFH

Opal8 · 22/10/2021 00:19

Hmmm...
Not sure tbh!
There are one or two more 4160s I'd like to try but they are the pricier ones
I'd love a day at 4160tuesdays but not sure its feasible logistically
I'm getting a JJB this year so there might be a new love in there :)

I have philosophy fresh cream on the way. Blind buy, I have a willing link in America now who travels weekly and can pick stuff up for me
I panicked and it was the only one I could think of that I can't get here GrinGrin

PearsMorgan · 22/10/2021 07:03

Hello and thanks for recommendations a couple of pages back. Will report back. SOTD has been molecule + patchouli which I love and the patchouli is a useful safety feature so you don’t overdo the iso e super when it does that going invisible for a bit thing. Today though it is feeling wintery and I’m going to get the goutal encens flamboyant out for some burning pine needles.

riotlady · 22/10/2021 08:05

Not sure about Christmas presents but my birthday is in November and I’ve asked DH for Swedoft Endless Happiness. It’s my favourite cosy winter scent, like chai lattes and cinnamon buns.

SOTD is Papillon Dryad, nearly at the end of the sample :(

MissBattleaxe · 22/10/2021 09:16

@riotlady I've never heard of Swedoft Endless Happiness but I love your description of it. I adore Dryad and have a full bottle.

Today I'm writing about Gallivant Naples. Gorgeous. Just doing the visuals.

Deathraystare · 22/10/2021 09:50

@Opal8

What a rotten shame your surgery was cancelled :( My colleague's knee and hip surgery was cancelled AGAIN. So annoying for her.

Opal8 · 22/10/2021 10:29

@Deathraystare sorry, didn't mean to confuse...my surgery went ahead but another long awaited for appointment was cancelled.
I feel for your colleague. I had my gallbladder surgery cancelled 3 times...I was on the trolley being wheeled to theatre when they cancelled at one point 😡🥺
I can take my dressing off today and shower..hurrah!

Opal8 · 22/10/2021 14:06

Sotd pp mmm btf

Opal8 · 22/10/2021 22:02

Well...
I've asked dh for a 4160 customisation for Xmas - SSOTPE plus frankincense - 'sexy church"! 😍
I might also ask for a pp mmm btf candle too

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/10/2021 00:10

SOTD NRFH. That sounds like an excellent present opal.

I've enjoyed reading all of your Christmas lists; it made me think about what would be on mine. 🎁
Obsession - my bottle is very nearly finished, and I can't bear to be without it.
Mitsouko - I've only ever had a very small amount of this, but it's so comforting and easy to wear.
Fille en Aiguilles - this is like smelling a Christmas tree in a church, all resinous pine and incense. 🎄⛪ I love scents that remind me of Christmas! Most of my wintry fragrances are warm and spicy, and this is a change - cool in a contemplative way, but not cold. Definitely at the top of my list!

Opal8 · 23/10/2021 13:47

I'd never be without obsession either @FragrantlyScent 💜
Sotd 4160 shazam!
I've bought a few more Xmas gifts 🎁
I like to be done by end of November!
I've made a batxh of chocolate orange brownies and cooked down the apples from pils ttrees my house smells very christmassy 🌲

FragrantlyScent · 23/10/2021 17:39

I love the smell of apples cooking, @Opal8. So cosy and festive. ❤️ Chocolate orange brownies sound delish, too. 😋
We have some stollen cake (store bought, though) that I might have later. I can never resist Christmassy treats.😊🎄

FragrantlyScent · 23/10/2021 19:10

SOTD Miss Dior Originale. Fancied something green and bracing.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/10/2021 21:02

SOTD MMM Whispers in the Library.

FragrantlyScent · 23/10/2021 21:45

I might put Miss Dior Originale away til the spring. The green comes across quite fresh, and the florals feel like the tender new buds of late March and early April. Too breezy and cool for late autumn.

Opal8 · 24/10/2021 15:34

I'm currently layered in campfire marshmallow body cream and 4160 captured By Candlelight
I smell INCREDIBLE 😃💜
