SOTD Aramis Devin. It only recently occurred to me that, a sort time after the opening, this smells remarkably like a christmas tree! It's very green and clarifying, like forest air, but warm from the florals and light spices, too. This chypre is just so perfect.

Sotd is Jo Malone Vanilla & Anise.
I'm on a repeat of wearing old comforting favourites - Nutmeg & ginger ( the pp of this is good) & ffern summer.
I'm not in the mood to wear anything new. Though I did order a sample of the newish Papillon - Spell25. I concur with @MissBattleaxe's view that it smells like old Welsh castle walls.

So sorry your Mum is ill @Opal.
My youngest has been off school since the beginning of the term with illness & it's been very difficult here too.

Ds2 had covid but seems all better now. Ds1 has freshers flu and is feeling pretty rough.
I'm having a mole removed at hospital tomorrow and then a rheumatology appointment on Thursday evening.so if you have any spare good vibes I'd appreciate them x

I'm usually a lurker, but wearing Caron Montaigne today and it's just so lovely.
I was lucky enough to score 3 bottles for £10 each a few years ago - I think they changed the bottle shape and were offloading the old shape bottles, or something.
I usually wear Shalimar or Ambre Sultan, so enjoying the change.
Funnily enough, my cat loves it. I think it's the jasmine he likes - he spends all summer under our jasmine outside so might recognise it.

Welcome, @Annonnimoouse42 👋! You've named two of my favourite fragrances (Shalimar and Ambre Sultan), I adore anything amber or oriental! Have never tried anything from Caron; but would love to test Nuit de Noel, Parfum Sacre, and Tabac Blond the next time I'm in London.

funnily enough, I didn't like Parfum Sacre or Tabac Blond. You might like Guerlain Tonka Imperiale. It's woodier than Ambre Sultan and a bit mannish initially (that sharp aftershave note), but dries really ambery warm, with Tonka and a peppery note, ( apparently is rosemary)
I really like SL Louve too. Love almondy perfume

I've realised it really quite rosemary (I seem to have missed that previously). We used to boil up rosemary needles when we were kids and make 'scent'. I can smell it now I've identified it

That is an incredibly kind offer, 🙏 @Annonnimoouse42, but it turns out I already have a sample and must have overlooked it! (that happens quite a lot ). I was looking in my box of samples to see what I could offer you in return for your generosity, and there it was - buried in the middle - along with a few other gems I'd forgotten about: EL Spellbound, MDCI Chypre Palatin, and YSL Caftan. I definitely need to organise my sample collection, and, importantly, not buy more (unlikely to happen) until I use some up.

I've had a quick spritz on my arm, and you're right about the rosemary, there's definitely a certain herbal-greenness balanced with the warmth, right after the sharpness of the opening. Will let you know what I think of the dry down.

Thank you. She seems perkier. Oooh...what have Avon got in the pipeline!? I was wearing 4160 AKBTF earlier! 😀💜 FS chypre sublime is very like POAL - very grown up classy scents. Too grown up for me 🤣 I need to consider what to wear tomorrow for my proceedure...hmmm...maybe 4160 SSOTPE...its a skin scent and it wafts beautifully 😍

Also perking up at the sound of Avon... I do love a bargain. 😉

I had high hopes for FS Chypre Sublime, but it turned out very rose dominated on me, almost a sharp green rose soliflore, and not very chypre at all. My search for the perfect rose 🌹continues; I think I need more spice or patchouli or something. Although, I must say that I am loving Estée Lauder Knowing, but for different reasons, for satisfying my enduring love of chypres.

In perfume test news - I loved the mentholated opening of Tonka Imperiale, but shortly thereafter I detected a whiff of tobacco leaf. For some reason I don't get on with tobacco as a perfume note, my skin seems to exaggerate it, and then amplify it even further, until it almost comes to smell like coconut 🥥🥥🥥, another note I don't do well with. I will pass this sample on to my mum, who, fortunately, does like tobacco (in perfume, that is) and coconut.

I recently bought 3 perfumes . One old favourite Mitsouko. (My absolute fave). L'heure Bleu which I have lusted after forever! It seems lighter than Mitsouko but because of the name I stubbornly only wear it at night! Plus Floral Street Ylang Ylang Espresso. Well happy now!
