Hello @Lalalablahblahblah . I'm new-ish, and have only been on these threads for a couple of months or so. Me too! I can't wait to bring out my autumn/winter scents (in fact, I may have already started Blush); rich, ambery, spicy fragrances are my absolute favourites. Smile

Artdecolover · 05/09/2021 10:27

@Lalalablahblahblah

Can I join you lovely lot please? I was around a couple of years and a few name changes ago. Been following (stalking) this thread off and on since then! I've been wanting to switch up my perfumes to get out the more autumnal stuff. Just ordered a part bottle of the original Dior Addict ready for winter Grin
Welcome and great choice! 👍

@IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble

Knowledgeable perfumistas can I please ask you for your advice?

I have recently purchased a bottle of Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir. It's my first Jo Malone, I normally wear strong scents e.g Alien/Angel.

When I put the PN on within 5 minutes it fades and I can't smell anything. I asked for advice at the Jo Malone counter in JL a week or two after purchase and they said I need to layer it and sold me a body cream. I now put the cream on, get dressed and then put the PN on. The issue is the same though, in 5 mins I can hardly smell it.

What do I need to do to make it last, or is Jo Malone just a big con in a lovely box with a ribbon on?!

Sadly I dubbed Jo Malone "No Malone" for exactly this reason :( They just don't last as they are colognes. You may be better off getting an oil based dupe from perfume Parlour if you really like the scent. I hear the aldi dupe of PM is good too.

Stupid question but have you asked someone else if they can smell it? Some perfumes fade really quickly to my nose but then people comment on them
IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 05/09/2021 12:15

@Artdecolover really?! Well maybe I should have asked here before I purchased. There's an Aldi down the road I could have looked in! So much for treating myself to something special!!

@notmycat I have yes and they can't smell it.

I'm bloody tempted to email them and complain, I feel so disappointed!

FragrantlyScent · 05/09/2021 13:39

@IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble, I don't really know very much about Jo Malone, but also think their fragrances have no longevity. I was told they were meant to be erm... subtle and for people who don't like strong smells, which rather put me off tbh. I love strong scents, and second the idea of looking for a dupe. Also, sometimes light colognes can be quite refreshing in hot weather, so it might be good for that; although I appreciate JM PN is very expensive, and that's not why you bought it. Sad

FragrantlyScent · 05/09/2021 13:43

Above should read: that's not what you bought it for.

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 05/09/2021 13:56

Thanks @FragrantlyScent I have actually emailed them to express my disappointment. Will see what they say.

Artdecolover · 05/09/2021 14:12

I think if you are very unhappy ask for a refund.
JM always seem to sell well on e Bay of you can be bothered...I've sold perfumes I've tired of on ebay for pretty much rrp.

Artdecolover · 05/09/2021 17:25

Feeling very tired and migrainey today.
So sotd is iso e super
Very light and fresh

Fferny1 · 05/09/2021 17:33

@ididn'tfloat I samples several yesterday and they lasted precisely 5 minutes. I bought a barely used bottle of Vanilla & Anise and it's nothing like it used to be. Hence I feel absolutely no guilt about buying Jenny Glow dupes.

Sotd is Lys Med. By Malle. I'm on holiday in Mallorca, so heady lilies it is.
Prior to that I've been wearing Cristalle on repeat. As my head has not been in perfume mode for a while, I wanted to wear something easy and something I didn't have to think too much about.

FragrantlyScent · 05/09/2021 18:28

@Fferny1 Enjoy your holiday! 🏖️☀️⛱️

@Artdecolover I felt exactly the same way yesterday, and couldn't face any perfume. I took painkillers and had a long nap, and thankfully am mostly ok today after feeling quite rubbish for most of the week. Hope you feel better soon. Flowers

SOTD Aramis Aramis. After all this talk of Autumn, the weather is fairly warm and stuffy here today. So this is a light and quite airy citrus, herb and spicy leather that just felt right.

Artdecolover · 05/09/2021 18:31

@Fferny1 happy holidays!

@FragrantlyScent thank you. I seem to feel rubbish more days than I feel well atm :(

SOTD Jo Malone Sea Salt and Wood Sage.

@IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble I got JM Pomegranate Noir as a gift and while it is not my cup of tea (I actually passed it on to a friend) I think it is one of the strongest JMs. It might have changed since then but it definitely did not need to be layered with body products.

@Lalalablahblahblah if there are no takers for Le Lion I would love it - I am really enjoying the sample.

Thanks all, Jo Malone have responded saying I can return to them so will be doing that ASAP.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/09/2021 13:58

SOTD YSL Libre. Great news, @IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble. Thanks so much, @Lalalablahblahblah, I will PM you now.

Artdecolover · 06/09/2021 16:08

Sotd avon lbd weekend

Artdecolover · 07/09/2021 18:19

Sotd 4160 fluffy lemon top

This lasts a long time on my skin for some reason...I am still getting wafts of it now...

NotMyCat · 07/09/2021 23:31

I have two cheeky requests but if you don't ask.. Grin
Does anyone know where you can buy cb I hate perfume in the U.K.?
And second to that I'm looking for a sample of a lab on fire freckled and beautiful and can't find a U.K. one

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/09/2021 00:03

SOTD NRFH.

@NotMyCat Cult Beauty used to stock CB, I think Beauty Mart too, but not sure now.

FragrantlyScent · 08/09/2021 10:48

@NotMyCat I remember that www.perfumista.co.uk stock samples of CB I Hate Perfume, but they don't do full bottles, I don't think. Not sure if that helps.

Fferny1 · 08/09/2021 11:52

Thank you for my holiday wishes 🌞.
We're staying in my sister's holiday home here and it's so relaxing & beautiful.
For anyone looking for samples or decants the perfume Facebook sites are the best ones for posting requests. I buy all mine this way now, as it's normally a lot cheaper. There's a brilliant perfume lady called Gail on many of them, that seems to have a bottle available for decants, of virtually everything.
Mizensir Gingembre - fantastic in hot weather. The Malle lilies were way too heady the other night.
