@Lalalablahblahblah

Has anyone else signed up for the 4160 Tuesdays January Joy box? I'm very excited to do it this time. I've wanted to before but it always seemed a bit too extravagant when it was with 9ml bottles. I've gone for the sample size this time and I'm very much looking forward to it. It sounds like fun. SOTD is Tuberose Absolue Perris Monte carlo for a little sample. It's lovely. I'm considering getting a FB but feels like it's the wrong time of year for it going forward. Also someone was selling a part used bottle of diptyque's Olene on Ebay the other day and I was super tempted. Not quite sure why I'm listing after the spring / summer white floral at the moment.
Me! 😀 Taster set here too I'd love the 15mls but £300 is too steep for me sadly Sotd 4160 fluffy lemon top for a horribly hot and sticky day
MrsBerthaRochester · 08/09/2021 16:54

Sotd-flowerbomb. Heard this had strong spillage but it's very soft on me

FragrantlyScent · 09/09/2021 01:10

SOTD: Samsara, Guerlain. Today was perfect for spraying this lightly; it bloomed wonderfully in the heat, and has maintained a much needed opulent powderiness all day. Quite a feat. Lots of people prefer to use Samsara in winter, but I always seem to associate the creamy smell of sandalwood with hot weather, and heady jasmin is a quintessentially summery smell to me.

SOTD on Monday was Dior Fahrenheit for a trip to the hospital. I went in dry and fresh and left in a soggy puddle. It was hot, airless and oppressive in that special way that I think must be unique to hospitals. I honestly think they had the heating on. Shock

SOTD yesterday was Aramis Devin, usually green, bitter and bracing, but which the weather made smell like lilies. Could have been worse, I suppose.

It is raining here now, and the soft smell of petrichor is rising up through my window. Hopefully tomorrow is cooler; I really don't do well in the heat and can't wait for it to turn chilly again (winter is my favourite season). I want autumn back! Blush

madamceladon · 09/09/2021 05:44

I need to try samsara @FragrantlyScent .
Also really want to try guerlain Nahema, it seems a bit more obscure snd hard to track down though.

I'm awake with insomnia but wanted to say I finally got the job I wanted! It was four rounds of interviews, the final one in person and I had a good squirt of cuir de russie for confidence Grin

Ugh I hear you I hate the heat. Haven't slept well for 3 nights now :( I'm being referred for more tests at the hospital. Not looking forward to that It's supposed to rain today - I love the smell of petrichor too :)
Artdecolover · 09/09/2021 08:07

I think sotd will be 4160 lemon sherbert

Fferny1 · 09/09/2021 09:20

Congratulations @madameceladon, such brilliant news.
@FragrantlyScent I agree, hospitals are dreadful in heatwaves. No fresh air at all.
Nahema is available once again. It's been re-bottled and isn't in the old bee one anymore.
It was on special offer a while ago in AllBeauty when I bought a bottle earlier in the summer.

madamceladon · 09/09/2021 11:01

SOTD pure white linen. Old eBay bottle. It's nice and surprisingly musky. I've not tried white linen so need to compare to original.

What do you think of nahema @Fferny1 ? Would you recommend?
I liked portrait of a lady and la fille de Berlin so wonder if it's a similar Smokey dramatic rose

Fferny1 · 09/09/2021 12:35

Yes, I think you would enjoy Nahema @MadameCeladon. I love Hyacinth & Rose notes, so I'm pretty much guaranteed to love most perfumes with these in.
I've never actually tried Poal for some reason, but Une Rose and La fille de Berlin are both favourites of mine and I adore Vintage Paris.
Nahema is a little lighter than it used to be but still recognisably itself. I'm not keen on Dark heavy patchouli roses but there is a richness in this, with a light touch of Patchouli & sandalwood.

LarryVeest · 09/09/2021 13:04

Hi! I'm just popping into this thread to see if you fragrance experts can help me. I have this reed diffuser:

www.bambamrocks.com/product-page/bambam-necklace

and I really wish I could wear it as a perfume. (Maybe I can? It does say it's non-toxic!). I dont' suppose anyone is familiar with this fragrance, and knows of any actual perfumes like it?

FragrantlyScent · 10/09/2021 11:17

Congratulations, @madamceladon. Four interviews! Shock Even though I don't generally like 'squeeky clean' scents, I love EL White Linen. I reckon you might enjoy Samsara - it's a real classic. Nahema sounds intriguing; I think this is the rose fragrance that famously doesn't contain any actual rose?

@Artdecolover, hope your appointments come through soon. I've got to go back to hospital on Monday. 😑 Am also waiting for another referral to come through; it's been four months and I still haven't received anything. Confused

@Fferny1, your holiday sounds amazing. Smile I definitely need to try Nahema now; rose might not be my favourite note - unless it's quite soft and powdery, it tends to go a bit sour on me - but I absolutely love hyacinth; one of my favourite flowers.

Artdecolover · 10/09/2021 12:37

My feelunique samples have arrived...
I got mmm autumn vibes and lazy Sunday morning
Autumn vibes is nice but 10 minutes after spraying I can hardly smell it :(
Lazy Sunday morning opening notes are a bit screechy but hopefully the dry down will be good
I have 15mls of 4160 sleep knot for sale if anyone's interested (£15 plus postage)

FragrantlyScent · 10/09/2021 20:41

SOTD: pp Spiriteuse Double Vanille, Guerlain. After initially not liking it at all, my feelings about this dupe have changed somewhat towards - if not love - at least a lukewarm like. This is a fairly rich, dark chocolate vanilla - the gourmand kind - nothing amber-y here at all. It is deepened with some kind of wood; cedar, maybe. Initially, there is also a distinct booziness, like sniffing those expensive brown bottles of vanilla extract. There are also some very weird floral notes floating in and out; they really stick out and remind me a bit of cheap potpourri or air freshener. Am currently trying to ignore them. Without these sharp florals, I may have liked the scent more...

I'm not really sure what I think of SDV; it's a bit hard to pin down. If I was smelling it 'blind', I'd say this was a celeb scent, it's got that vibe about it, though that may reflect my own preconceptions. I've not smelled the real thing, but if it's similar to this dupe, SDV is absolutely definitely not worth its whopping £280 (Shock) Guerlain price tag, although the bottle is very pretty.

Will finish my small pp oil bottle, but won't repurchase. Smile

FragrantlyScent · 10/09/2021 20:45

@Artdecolover, good luck with your hospital appointments. I also have a slew of hospital visits coming up, which I'm not looking forward to.

Renovations always make me stressed; hope that goes well (and quickly Smile) for you.

MM Autumn Vibes sounds disappointing.😞

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/09/2021 22:25

SOTD FM POAL.

@Lalalablahblahblah your parcel arrived today, thank you so much. I am still decontaminating a vial to decant Mitsouko into for you!

Great news @madamceladon, so pleased for you.

madamceladon · 11/09/2021 11:13

Thanks everyone. I'm really happy, I worked so hard to get a new job and had lots of near miss interviews before this one.

Good vibes for all hospital appointments, may the queues be short and the waiting rooms temperate.

SOTD lovely vintage shalimar.

Artdecolover · 11/09/2021 13:27

Well, I ended up in a and e with ds2 last night due to a broken finger. He's OK and was very brave.
I'm trying not to think too much about everything that's happening in the next 2 weeks tbh...the work starts on the house on Monday day and I have 3 hospital appointments up to 22nd 🥺
Sotd 4160 fluffy lemon top

I love the lazy Sunday morning dry down, I get the screechy bit too but it settles fairly quickly
Artdecolover · 12/09/2021 09:17

I might try it again today (as its Sunday morning!)
