I've just bought a load of sample from PP. Lots of Tom Ford and lots of summer scents - that may have been a mistake coming up to autumn but I love them!

Any recommendations for autumn scents - nothing too heavy and I really don't like oriental scents.

FragrantlyScent · 27/08/2021 19:39

@ThankYouVeryMuchGerry Hard to say without knowing what you like, but Maison Margiela By the Fireplace would make a great autumn scent. It's a smooth smoky wood, with a touch of sweetness and vanilla. So cosy! I, personally, don't find it heavy and most people seem to like it. An easy way to sample this is through the feelunique pick and mix selection which gets you 5 samples for £3.95 postage (I think).

Guerlain Mitsouko is also quite autumnal, it's a fruity chypre, with a bergamot/floral top, peach (LOTS of peach) and incense in the middle, and a mossy warm base. If you like summery scents, then the peach in this makes me think you may like it. Also, Guerlain Samsara is jasmine and sandalwood, but spray lightly if you don't want something overpowering.

How are you with incense? If you like incense-y scents, something like Comme des Garcons Incense Avignon or Heeley Cardinal.

For Tom Ford, maybe Tobacco Vanille? Might be warming for autumn without being heavy or cloying.

Green scents can be quite autumnal too, maybe Estée Lauder Private Collection or Chanel No19. Clinique Aromatics Elixir is definitely a wintry chypre to me, but can be quite strong.

I actually love orientals and Ambers for A/W (or any time really!), so don't have many suggestions, but I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along with more suitable ideas. Smile

Sending good luck to those waiting to hear from job interviews. Hope you hear back soon, must be agony waiting. 🤞

SOTD Monotheme Rose Oud, for something different. Jammy, red apple-y rose, almost alcoholic actually, tinged with a hint of a dark, almost bitter oud.

Need something cosier now though.

madamceladon · 27/08/2021 21:43

That rose oud sounds good @FragrantlyScent , I've got the orange blossom monotheme which is nice.

FragrantlyScent · 27/08/2021 22:07

Thank you @madamceladon. It is! Smile I think the monotheme range is generally very good and even better for being so affordable. Their perfumer is Lorenzo Villoresi, who also has a line of much more £££ perfumes. The Rose Oud is more complex than you'd expect for the price, and easily lasts all day. Smile

FragrantlyScent · 28/08/2021 18:29

SOTD pp EL Knowing.

SOTE Aramis Devin.

Everything smells strange today, sour and wrong. I'm not quite sure why this is. Am feeling strangely unmoved and dissatisfied with my scent collection. Hopefully I am just having an 'off' day. Confused

Hope everyone else's day went better.

Nice choices@OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack
Sorry you aren't feeling great @fragrantlyscent :(
Today has been a write off really...migraine yesterday...then ds2 had one of his anxiety attacks (always at bedtime) so I was awake on and off most of the night.
Dh is/has been out all day so I've pottered, done lots of laundry, binge watched last kingdom...
Sotd 4160 SSOTPE

FragrantlyScent · 28/08/2021 22:04

The amberama looks fabulous @OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack. You can never have too much amber or vanilla.

Yes, today has been a bit of a write off for me too, @Artdecolover. Have been feeling indecisive and lethargic and cannot wait for bed. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Hope your DS (and you!) have a better night tonight.

SOTN pp MM BTF, the perfume equivalent of a warm blanket.

Artdecolover · 28/08/2021 22:13

Amberama is gorgeous 😍

Here's hoping for a better day tomorrow for us both @FragrantlyScent

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 29/08/2021 00:38

SOTD FM POAL. SO yesterday really, forever behind!

FragrantlyScent · 29/08/2021 20:43

No SOTD today (!). Wish I could say its been an insanely busy day, but really have spent most of the afternoon in front of the telly, binge watching Bake Off: The Professionals on the food channel. Couldn't help but think that Benoit Blin has the most over the top French accent, a bit like Albert Finney or Peter Ustinov playing Hercule Poirot. Was also wondering the whole afternoon what perfume Cherish would wear?

Will choose a SOTN later.

Eesha · 29/08/2021 22:37

Hi all, I just tried TF Bitter Peach and liked it but can't manage 300 pounds for it. Are these dupes any good? Anyone purchased a decent duplicate?

FragrantlyScent · 29/08/2021 23:15

Hi @eesha, £300! The only dupe brand I've tried is perfume parlour. I've not smelled TF Bitter Peach, but pp have lots of TF dupes instock, and the ones I've tried from them have generally been quite good (one or two haven't been very close, though), and I would recommend them. The smallest roll ons are very cheap (£3 or £4) and last ages, so not much outlay if its not for you. They also have small sprays for a little extra. Just type the name into their website.

HTH Smile

FragrantlyScent · 29/08/2021 23:17

SOTN Shalimar, my cosy scent.

FragrantlyScent · 29/08/2021 23:23

Ooh, forgot to add @Eesha, have you looked at TF Bitter Peach on fragrantica. If you scroll down, they have a 'this perfume reminds me of' section with scents that users think smell similar. Might be worth a look (apologies if your already knew this/looked there). Smile

Eesha · 30/08/2021 07:01

@FragrantlyScent thank you, I do wonder how good these dupes are. I have to admit I was seduced by the brand etc and love the idea of having it! 300 is a no go

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 30/08/2021 10:44

SOTD MMM Whispers in the Library. Debating putting the heating on, it's so chilly. No bank holiday here in Scotland either.

Artdecolover · 30/08/2021 11:39

Doesn't feel much like a bank holiday here tbh
Weather so so
Sotd 4160 Shazam!

NotMyCat · 30/08/2021 12:47

SOTD harajuku lovers wicked style baby

FragrantlyScent · 30/08/2021 13:13

@Eesha, you're welcome! Smile Agree that TF has a certain cachet, and the scents are excellent, but £300 would be out of my price range too.

It was distinctly autumnal here yesterday. Nearly time to get out A/W scents (😍🙈)! I put on a cardigan and was huddled under a blanket in front of the tv with tea, chocolate biscuits and cheese toast. It was that kind of day. Must be freezing in Scotland.

@NotMyCat, what a fabulous name for a perfume!

Eesha · 30/08/2021 14:05

@FragrantlyScent I went to have another sniff and they are all lovely. Need to look at dupes though as out of my range

Artdecolover · 30/08/2021 19:14

I've got a 4160 Tuesdays trio for sale if anyone is interested?..
15 mls x 3
Eau my soul
Black velvet cafe
Over the chocolate shop
Can box all 3 as a trio

FragrantlyScent · 30/08/2021 23:29

SOTD Guerlain, Samsara.

@Eesha. It's great that department stores have bottles out to test again. I've missed that. It makes it so much easier to try new things.
